Another alternative is going to the bar on 32nd floor. There is no booking required and no fee. Drinks are a little more expensive than they would be otherwise but views are very similar.

At least if the kids ticket is free you won't feel so bad having paid from £25.95 for your own ticket when the child stares out of the window and says "is this it?"
