I'm tempted to swap my two 980ti's for one.... That said though, I imagine as soon as the 1080ti comes out, the 1080's will drop to this price pretty quick

It wont drop the 1080 price when the ti comes, nvidia will just price the ti at £900/£1000 +
The only way the high end nvidia card price will come down is if they get any competition and the competition prices are lower.

Fulfilled by Amazon, not some hacked firm. I've put one on order. Worst can happen is cancellation.
Ordered for a fun punt.
If it doesn't get dispatched they don't take the money so it's a good idea just in case it does!
These are around 600 plus on eBay.

I went for the X4 version a couple of days ago. Think it's still available at a little over £10 more seems a no brainer for the extra cooling.
Originally had both on preorder but got nervous that there is a very small chance they may get both in at the same time and send them both out, which would be far more than I can afford so I canned the X3 and stuck with the X4.
Really hope Amazon honour this but I have my doubts, they seem to cancel a lot of computing misprices probably due to tight margins where as they have left a number of consumer electronics misprices go (have been a number of really cheap headphones deals in recent months)...

Can't see the 1080ti being prices that high. 980ti was £600 on release and so to was 1080. The 1080 will take a price drop and I see the 1080ti coming in around £600-700

10 Feb 17#20
Have you not heard of nvidia tax? j/k :stuck_out_tongue:
did he 980 price drop when the 980ti came out? and did the 980ti come in at the price of the 980 or was it £100/200 more? I think you will find it was the later :disappointed:
BetaRomeo
10 Feb 171#21
The 980 Ti was US$650 on release ($100 more than the 980), and was £550 in pre-Brexit-referendum pounds when it released in the UK.
The 1080 was US$600 from third parties (US$700 for the silly Founder's Edition). The two different prices muddied the waters slightly, but it released at about £550 in post-Brexit-referendum pounds - which made it a lot cheaper than the 980 Ti, from a currency point of view. In fact, that made it cheaper in the UK than at the US at launch, probably due to the coincidence of the GBP slump immediately before launch causing some hasty re-prices.
Expect £700 as the lowest entry point from the 1080 Ti. (If it's $100 more than the 1080, then it's $700, + VAT, to get £675 already - and graphics cards aren't typically cheaper in the UK than in the US. The 1070 and 1080 have been outliers in that respect.)
And remember: £700 doesn't buy you US$1,000 any more. Time to get used to it.

For a moment there I thought you were having a debate with me, then you posted the same predicted price as me, strange. Of course you failed to note that AMD will be releasing their high end card shortly after so expect pricing to be competitive.
CriticalObserver
10 Feb 171#23
Haven't been following the what's whats of the GPU market for a while but I'd be willing to bet good money on 1080Ti not being released until after the pricing & performance of the anticipated high-end Vega card is revealed; Nvidia is positioned very well to sit back and do only what's necessary.
BetaRomeo
10 Feb 17#24
I think you've misread my post, then. Your suggestion of £600 is simply not probable given the facts. I'd personally wager it being a little higher than £700, but that's a feeling without much else to back it up, while £700 as the barest minimum is fairly easy to demonstrate, as shown - unless the £ suddenly jumps up again before the 1080 Ti's release, of course.
Funny how my not mentioning Vega means I "failed to note" it, as you hadn't mentioned it either. Or hadn't you realised you failed on that point? :man:

10 Feb 171#32
its amazing how many people aren't smart enough to see that this is just amazon auto matching the scam sellers prices, that means that amazon wont send any units out because they will simply remove the scam seller and cancel the orders, the exact same seller now has hundreds of ads on amazon so it will be a very short amount of time before it is removed, if you try using google to look for the seller it will explain that people have mailed them and all get asked to pay outside of amazon for the items (SCAM).

Yesterday, I reported the Pharma site scammer (can't ship to all addresses, email us) and Amazon actually removed all the tech listings and the can't ship to all addresses blurb. Reported DJ Warehouse as well - clearly not legit with those prices - Amazon emailed back to say that they couldn't find a seller account that matched *my* email address. Pharma site also now back to how it was before I reported it.

It is not legit. It is 100% a scammed account. To have 77 reviews ever then pop up with that many items in your store with not a single review for anything other than bin stickers is unbelievable. Trust me, that's not real and it will be cancelled as soon as the real trader gets their account back

So i spoke to Amazon live chat about my order for this and the x4. I was informed the order would be fulfilled once stock was back, which they cannot give a date on but I was told they would expedite it as there were a lot lof customer waiting on this order. Now i have never ordered something with a misprice before, so don't know if this is just usual spiel by Amazon, still hoping that maybe, just maybe, this will be fulfilled.

Dunno, I still haven't seen anything quite as good as Amazon's price on the X4, which was also cancelled, at least on not a similarly high end card, but not too bothered either, as I managed to bag a brand new GTX1060 3GB on eBay for £135, I know it isn't in the same league performance wise but still great VFM at that price. Also complained to Amazon about being kept waiting over 3 weeks just for a cancellation notice and got £20 credit from them so worked out very well overall, just guess I'm not meant to have a GTX1080....
