Have recently started a home business and went it to my local currys to look for a sturdy reliable printer which isn't going to cost me a fortune to print. can anyone confirm if I bought 2 printers I would be eligible for the instant ink offer twice?

So depending of your monthly printing will last from less than a year for up to 3 years (supposedly, doesn't state if credit expires)
you will not achieve 300ppm on an inkjet I can vouch for that, plus it takes ages for the ink to Arrive after the printer messages it becomes low and finally if it's for business use a laser.
Better quality faster and will be cheaper in the long run and more reliable.
But this is not such a bad deal if you want to print photos- I got the 4524 and with paper am getting 15p / A4 print which would cost upwards of £2

Incorrect I am achieving my 300ppm on my HP printer , you need to change the settings to every 12 hours update not every 10 days that's why you have that problem :wink: you need to contact HP support and they will let you know how to do it :smiley:

Business? Use a laser. Worried about cost? Use a Brother. Rock solid reliability and can be cheap to refill as they don't chip their toner cartridges. A pen/other poking implement and a bottle of toner is enough to refill one.

This is the sort of deal this site is for not the rubbish ones where someone find a single 10 petabyte disc at a shop in the middle of nowhere with no other shop anywhere in the known universe having any stock.

when you sign up for the instant ink trial, code FREEINK should give an extra free month and if you find/ask a referral code you would get another extra month free.
The FREEINK code can also be added afterwards (i.e. if you haven't done so during the printer set up) by the HP customer services via online chat

Thanks for pointing out that you get an extra month with referral code, can confirm it worked for me. Just used the setup software it asks you to download after going to 123.hp.com. Followed the process and after you enter CC the next page has a box for promo codes. I entered the referral code, after that had applied I entered the "FREEINK" code. Ended up with 3 months free (part of printer offer), 1 month free from referral code and 1 month free from FREEING code. Total off 5 months free @ 300 pages/month.
Also in answer to my previous questions:
1) It automatically selected the top plan for the free period. Will make a note to drop it down at the end of the trial.
2) You need to insert cartridges to kick the process off. So you do lose the cartridges that came with the printer. But they appear to be started cartridges anyway, so not a big deal.
And finally, there's supposed to be a card inside with the free £74 credit. I couldn't find it anywhere so called HP to confirm there should be a card and the credit isn't applied automatically (which they did). There was a hole in the box where the handle is, I had presumed this was just caused when someone lifted from the handle. I now suspect someone may have deliberately made the hole and taken the card :/
Now have to chase up Currys to get this resolved :disappointed:

If the link opens a page for you that doesn't talk about Officejet and Officejet Pro printers try right-clicking the link and using the open in New Private/Incognito Window instead. HP sometimes misdirects you to the wrong page, if you have been looking at other offers previously.
It does say 3 year warranty offer on the Inkjet printers as well. The link takes you to Africa page, but there's an option to select your country, and selecting U.K returns you to the same page so hopefully will work.

The 3 months free appears to be for the base plan. If you select a higher plan would it just charge you the difference?
Also reading the blurb, it says you can switch up at any time, but going down a plan happens from the next month.
So if youre heading over your limit, can u just switch up then immediately switch down so you don't forget?

As far as I know, for the free trial you should be able to select any plan and get it for free during the trial, so it makes sense to select the highest priced one. However, you should remember to downgrade at the end of the trial if so you wish.

HP sends out new cartridges which have more ink than the initial ones.
In my case, although the new set of cartridges that I received is still pretty full (i.e. about 70% remaining for the colour, and 80% for the black), a new colour cartridge has been dispatched and is on its way.

Thanks, printer hasn't arrived yet so I just googled for the free trial and read the terms. Perhaps its different if its in conjunction with a new printer, as I did read other people mention (as you say) to pick the highest plan.
Sorry maybe I didn't explain properly. I was wondering if you should/can use the included carts separate from the plan (i.e. use them before starting the instant ink sub, or keep them for later)?

I am not sure as I used the cartridges included with the printer straightaway and started the free trial at the same time. I am guessing that you might need to have the cartridges in the printer to start the trial and they might only work only if the trial is ongoing (maybe someone else can confirm this). Also, the printer "orders" new cartridges when it detects that the current ones have low ink, so I think that no new ink would be sent unless the cartridges are in the printer.

Mine received today, 3 yr warranty clearly stated and I have completed online registration for it, also cashback claim in for £25 but nowhere do I see the '£74 code that can be redeemed on any plan' anyone else confirm if this has been received? Printer itself quite impressive and works well with PC and tablets, quality excellent.

There's a orange sticker on the outside of the box of mine that says £74 voucher code in box, do you have that?
My box had damage and I've presumed someone has stuck their hand in and pinched it. Does you're have any damage?

They may have sent you the wrong one, or you may have ordered the wrong one. There are two on the Currys site:
One for £149.99, with the 2 year instant ink offer
One for £139.99, with 3 month instant ink offer
Check which one you ordered. On mine theres an orange sticker on the outside of the box which says "2 years instant ink included" and then "3 months free + £74 voucher code in box"

After a bit of back and forth, Currys only solution was to pick it up and deliver a new one. Roughly a 7 day process as they first need to verify the returned device is all there.
Fortunately HP saved me the trouble and given the circumstances generated a code for me and I was able to add the £74 credit using that. They seemed to suggest it was tied to the printer, so hopefully if someone did take the voucher its now useless. As it wasted quite a bit of my time.

Ive just bought the Brother 8650cdw laser printer for £228 with £100 cash back. Got it from printerland so about £6 cash back with Quidco
So just over £120.
Lasers aren't everyone's cup of tea but I got sick of my HP clogging up and wasting ink unblocking it if it wasn't used at least weekly. Plus original XL cartridges were about £35 a time and didn't last long when little girl had projects to do.
Snide toner works out at £40 for all 4 and works out so much cheaper.
Picked this up, seems like a pretty decent printer and good deal overall. Went with the highest plan (300 pages, £8pm) so with the £74 credit that works out about 9 months of printing, plus the 3 months free.
Most months I won't use anywhere near 300 pages, but at the end of the year I'll have a better idea of what I'm using and can adjust the plan accordingly.

Should of picked the 100 as you can carry over the previous month.. so you effectively have 100 a month + previous months remaining, and it used the previous months first.

You should have used the code "FREEINK" to get an extra month. Also you can get a referral code from an existing subscriber to get another month free. I ended up with 5 months free.
May be worth finding a referral code and then calling them and saying you couldnt find where to put the codes in. From a previous post on here, they appear to be ok with doing that.

Are you sure it uses the previous months allocation first? From the wording it appeared it uses the current months allocation then the previous months carry over.
In any case for the free period you may aswell pick 300 pages. Thats what I did and plan to switch down just before the free months end and its starts to use the £74 credit (made a note in my calendar). You can switch up within the month, so if it looks like you're going over you can go up a plan instantly. Then immediately drop it back down as going down a plan takes effect from the next month. I verified all this with them whilst sorting out the issue I had with the missing credit voucher.
You just need to keep an eye on the usage to make sure you don't go over and get stung with the expensive overage charges. Would be good if they sent some sort of alert (although perhaps the printer warns you if you're going over your plan?).

Hi, was hoping for some advice. Been looking at this compared to the hp envy printers. We need a printer for home use (kids home work and occasional printing) and would probably go for the £1.99 per month, 50 page instant ink. As far as I can tell this is a better printer and over time (2-3 years) works out cheaper than the envy printers. I notice that this uses separate cartridges for colour printing whereas the envy printers use just one colour cartridge. Does this mean that it will produce better photo printing results? Also, I'm a little concerned that we may have problems with ink drying up if printing less than 50 pages per month? Any help really would be appreciated, thanks

Finally installed mine. Mine came with both a 3 month free ink offer and a £74 credit for use after the 3 months expires. The 3 month free ink allows you to select whatever offer you want and then tells you that you won't be charged if you print 300 pages even if you have chosen the 50 ppm offer. Registering for a 3 year warranty was simple, registering for the £25 was equally simple. In both cases you need to send an invoice via attaching it to the claim. It prints well and is good quality. A bargain really.
