FVHD? Is that short for FreeView HD or some other standard I've never heard of?

Just a general comment about the Hitachi TV. I have an HD on of these from a year or 2 ago. Bought it after returning a digihome (think that's the name). The hitachi out of the box looked identical, so i was dreading it. The previous make would not connect to the internet services at all via wifi and it was slow. Due to the hitachi looking identical i was expecting the same. The hitachi isn't the fastest, but for the price has been a brilliant tv.

Hitachi, polaroid and many others are actually Vestel tvs badged to individual sellers, like supermarkets argos currys etc.. They will most likely be nearly identical, maybe small variations like no. of hdmi's. The apps on these are a bit limited (no amazon prime at least). There have been many postings recently for variations of this tv around this price, so I think this the "normal" price now. Budget price = budget tv so don't expect high performance but if it suits your requirements, then good luck

Completely wrong, Vestel make their own panels, the only company to do so in Europe. They fully support the Pal 50hz frame rate with a backlight strobing that supports 50, 60 and PC rates up to about 75hz. Turkey is a PAL country like UK. Motion interpolation is normally about 1000-1200 on their quad core logic boards. So creates up to 20 extra part frames per inputed frame. They use their own pixellence software which is excellent for motion handling.
Panels are actually pretty good, normal pixel response time is 8ms. Input lag is something like 31ms in game mode. Not class leading but competitive.
They are cheap sets but in performance terms they do punch a bit above their weight and have some good features but the opera os models apps aren't as good as their android set apps as you can imagine which we don't seem to get in the UK and maybe considerably more expensive if we did.
They can comfortably outperform entry level sets from some of the bigger brands in both performance and features.
Check out the media link and download the oem tv catalogue for information on model features.
I've seen entry level non vestel Panasonic's with worse motion handling and Hisense models with easily inferior panels.

Most of the electronics will be including the main chipset. An awful lot of famous brand names have been bought by Turkish/Asian companies and used to rebadge their own, often cheapo, products - Glen Dimplex, Morphy Richards, Roberts Radio and many more. Often items with different brand names are identical or nearly identical. Blaupunkt, Hitachi, Bush, Polaroid are all made by Turkish company Vestel I believe.
If you aren't fussy about quality and reliability, then these might be for you, but the "deals" are often not that cheap - you're getting what you pay for.

14 Feb 17#116
Has anyone bought one, set it up and care to comment please ?
bonzobanana
14 Feb 17#117
Blaupunkt aren't made by Vestel they are all UMC and Bush televisions are made by at least 2 different companies Vestel and UMC possibly more. However same is true of the big brands like Panasonic, Sony etc who use basic imported chinese components for their entry level models and are simply screwed together in Europe in basic factories. I much prefer the features and performance of my Finlux Vestel tv over competing models at the time I bought it its been a fantastic set. Statistically televisions have never been more reliable across all brands.

Yes, picked it up yesterday as a TV for the kids room. Quite impressed overall. PS4 and Xbox One work very well with it. Freeview SD&HD are OK but could do with upscaling which some more expensive models have. Only thing I have not got working is ARC to the sound bar, but I can cope with optical especially given the low price. As someone else I think mentioned, the default setting is maximum power saving which impairs picture quality. Turning this off makes a really significant difference.

this TV really is excellent and makes me question the whole industry. My background is one of long standing in technology and I felt compelled to comment on this TV. Firstly a massive issue I have noticed with 4k TVs is motion judder which is a stutter when the camera pans. I have seen the issue with Sony hisense and these are the latest models. This TV is the best I have seen when it comes to motion simply stunning. The TV is a joy to use very smooth and well polished interface free view play button YouTube button TV guide has the free view play ability to go back. TV handles standard def as well as anything else. has a built in browser and the whole system is snappy. I won't bother with picture settings as this always comes down to personal preference and were the TV is used, though out the box the TV required no change to the default settings. I simply can not state how great this TV is even at 499 it's still a bargain. Now let's move on to Argos. These were selling like hot cakes so I reserved one at the price of 399.99 Argos online doesn't let you use promotional codes when reserving. in store the price had gone back up to 499.99 but was still 399.99 a lot of stores don't allow this and I also mentioned the tvs10 code and a manager 30 seconds later deducted the promotion. So all in all an excellent TV for 359.99 thanks. PS I am one of those bloke whose Mrs gets nervous when a new TV comes due too sending so many back for having issues which toh can not see. if like me you demand the best no matter if its a bargain then this TV really is fantastic even when full price let alone 359 BARGAIN QUALITY WELL CHUFFED kodi on my PC works perfect too
