'In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.'
'The free expansion, FTL: Advanced Edition, is available now! Content additions include: new alien race, events, weapons, playable ships, drones, and more! Also adds additional musical tracks by Ben Prunty, and events by Tom Jubert and guest writer Chris Avellone.'
I think this is a good price, as the game was £2.09 in the Steam Winter Sale, however it has been as low as £1.19 8 months ago (pre-Brexit vote). It's £1.49 on the HumbleStore until Sun 12th 18:00. Then it's £1.74 on Steam until Mon 13th 18:00. If you want the FTL with Soundtrack edition, it is £2.49 from Steam. You can also buy the soundtrack edition on Steam if you have the basic edition.

From the FAQ, theoretically neither Steam nor iOS are being updated since the Advanced Edition (presumably iOS is the Advanced Edition): http://subsetgames.com/faq.html
"Will there be any updates or sequels?
The Advanced Edition came out on April 3rd, 2014. It was a large, free expansion that is now built into every version of FTL. There are no plans for a sequel or any additional updates."
What's this rubbish you are talking? I've put 300+ hours into the iOS version which I have on the iPad Pro. Absolutely flawless. No sound or issues of any other kind.

Okay - thanks for that. I was tempted but will probably go for this one instead.

Great value and fun game, but too reliant on luck for my liking.

It's also reduced for iOS at the moment too (£2.99 for iPad).

Yes but badly broken. No sound or music works. Not been updated for a long time. Don't waste your money.
Buy on PC instead.

A really addictive 'just one more try' game. If roguelike games are your thing, this should be at the top of your list. Pause is definitely your friend ! You will die without it but expect to still die a lot with it too !

Pausing is all you'd really need to do but TBH they would be better picking up something like a Logitech K400 or similar HTPC keyboard/mouse option. A wireless mouse with some buttons that can be customised to press space would also work much better than a controller. FTL really works best with accurate control of a mouse.

Only put 40 mins into this game but was great, really need to get cracking with it! Anyone used steam controller with it?

It'd be pretty tough, particularly when things advance further, and the difficulty ramps up. I'm not sure you can action things quickly enough without a mouse.

It's a wonderful game, very basic but that doesn't matter in the slightest

not sure why my statement got truncated there. mine was free because I got credits on my wallet (come with monthly bundle).
anyway, if you think the developer deserve more money, you can always donate to them

Nope that's not better. The devs deserve some money from all players for their effort. And the more money they make the more likely they are to make another great game. And that's better for you.

Its reduced for this weekend only to celebrate the announcement of the new game the devs are working on "Into the Breach", get it on your wishlists!

One of the best games ever. Clocked in about 400 hours on this. Absolute bargain at almost any price imo.

At this price for the hours I've put it you're talking a heck of a lot less than 1p per hour of game time. Well worth it for a very well made game.

TotalBiscuit's review was complimentary: WTF Is... - FTL - Faster Than Light ?, he liked it so much he put it as his 3rd best game of 2012.
