Doesn't this mean it's solid oak;
With a reassuringly solid design crafted from rustic oak, The Harbury Collection is made to stand the test of time. Lightly whitewashed large sideboard with panel detailed top, three doors, three soft close drawers and solid wooden handles.

You're spot on with that. Also, another quick way of checking this would be by looking at the images of the product. If you zoom in on the top you can clearly see there is no end grain at the sides of the top. The oak effect edging is wrapped around the top. Typically you'd see the end grain.
Don't get me wrong, the sideboard looks nice but its just a laminated piece. Its all down to personally preference and how much you're happy to spend.
I didn't vote either way op. Thanks for sharing non-the-less

Don't give false info.
There is no MDF in this or the wardrobe
The wardrobe frame is solid oak and panels are composite wood with oak veneer.
I would say looking at the photos that this is similar in that the top, frame and fronts will be solid oak and the panels will be composite wood with oak veneer.
You would not get a full solid oak for this price and the weight would be to heavy for some modern floors once all the furniture was in.

Ok carpenter here !!!! Looking at the pictures, outer material looks like a cheaper solid oak .
Inner selves and panels look like chipboard/MDF with a laminate/veneer. But this is a bargain price . Hot
louiselouise
7 Feb 17#27
It's NOT veneered - I have the Homebase version (the first one) that was called Constable. And I (smug face) got it for £80 (nearly fainted when it arrived as the deliveries were all getting cancelled on the HUKD thread, and Homebase didn't seem to know what was happening either).
Mostly real oak, apart from the board that goes across the back of the sideboard and bases of the drawers. I watched it being assembled and I'm sitting right next to it.
This version, Harbury, has more a subtle whitewash effect that mine doesn't have, but (I assume) they are essentially they same? And it looks lovely, no matter which price you pay. This is still a bargain.
We have the narrow tall unit, double bookcase and the tv unit and it's all solid oak. It's very heavy and is already assembled! Great find I may order this!

The drawer fronts are definitely not solid wood. They all have the same grain pattern (middle one is 180 Degrees to outer ones) Vernier at best.
Flashbry
8 Feb 171#41
If you look closely you will see that the drawer fronts do not have the same pattern. It is similar but not the same. I would say that they were just cut from the same piece of wood as the grain gets progressively larger where the knots are (as it should). Judging from the photos I would guess the fronts are about an inch thick which would make the grain correct for solid wood.
Also the top does not look like veneer. It looks again like solid oak. The lack of end grain is easily explained, look closely at the photos and you will see that there is a piece of wood at each end running at 90 degrees to the front and back which is jointed at 45 degress - hence no end grain.
Quite simple really.
If my house was bigger than a mouse box I would buy it.
Have some heat OP!
Flashbry
8 Feb 172#42
Just to add to the above...
If I received the one in the photo I would have to take the front off the middle drawer and turn it over so it would match the other two.
Also the left hand door (right hand side of the photo) has been put on upside down.
Looks like a factory second to me...
Functionally ok, but aesthetically not so pleasing (if like me you have ocd about these sort of things!).
But for the price this is just nit picking.

Like louiselouise I bought one from Homebase for £80. It appears to be a mix of real wood and veneers. From the catalogue it says "SOLID WOODED FRAME WITH OAK VENEER PANELS." It has loads of space and for the money its a steal. As with all Schreiber furniture its extremely well made. Lots of space too. I just bought a Schreiber double wardrobe in the Argos sale using FURN25. At 111kg you know its going to be solid (many double wardrobes are around the 40-50kg mark) Its truely awsome and great value for money.
Having said all that Schreiber were acquired by Argos in 2014 and its looks like they have dumped the brand. I think this is going to be the last of the Schreiber stock and you will be lucky t find any of the units still available except on ebay at extortionate prices.

It does seem a bit light for "solid" wood.
Also there's no rounded edges anywhere, no carved ends or hand-made quality to it.
I'd say the top has veneers & it it looks quite plain, even at this price.
God knows how they'd flog any at full price!
We got a lovely one in Costco 4years ago, real solid wood. Weighed much more than this and is definitely solid oak.

Why all the conversation about wood or not wood. Its an excellent piece of Schreiber furniture that will hold lots of household items. In terms of weight bearing capacity you could easily get 200 to 300kg inside the unit and on top without a problem. I have stored that much most probably more. Have a look around and see if you can match it for price size and quality.
