Plus a tenner for postage, so for 5 pounds more I would go with House of Fraser for piece of mind

That's not the same model. Read up on 4200 vs 4000b. The 4200 has been out for years and that could be old stock. The 4000b is more recent and has some internal improvements, not just the colour change. One thing is the metal grill in the beans compartment.
The one you posted is narrower but deeper. Dimensions are as follows:
ESAM 4000.b: 36 x 28.5 x 37.5 cm
ETAM 29.510.b: 47.3 x 19.5 x 32.5 cm

Nope, they can't
The magnifica does not have a 'top up' function without changing the steam setting
The authentica does it to your specified amount at the touch of a button
I've had both machines, I'm not relying on google!!

Just press and hold the button straight after it finishes dispensing coffee and it tops up your coffee. As usual, I'm not relying on Google.

Back up to 250 now as flash sale is over. Student 10% off works however, bringing it back down to 225 (student code doesn't stack with flash sales).

The esam 4200 is now obsolete but still available, imo is superior to the 4000.b
Better steam wand as well.

This deal is over as the flash sale ended but for information, the steam wands are identical on esam 4200 and 4000.b. I have owned both.

Everyone saying the 4200 and 4000 are different in anything other then the colour, where the hell are you getting this information from?
They are the same machine in slightly different finishes.
All the documentation is shared and I've not seen anything actually showing any difference between the two.
I still own the Esam 4200.s, 5 years in May and can still be got on Amazon for £239 del atm.

It may be more slimline but you need to have access to the side, back and top of the machine to refill beans, water and remove used coffee grinds. It's slimline but in reality needs more space than the "fat" models.

Now £250?

Yes, already commented that and marked it as expired. Can still be bought for £225 however, with a student discount code.

Swapped for this one:

Far far superior. Ability to make long drinks and more slimline. Spend the extra £55!!
