If you don't need the IR a Foscam C1 Lite would be a better buy at only a few quid more in my opinion. With them you get onboard storage via SD Card, 720p Resolution, 115 degree wide angle view, sound as well as motion activated recording and its fully configurable and accessible using a browser. I have a couple of C1's with IR and they've both been rock solid.

Reasonable camera and software for PC & mobile. Only issue I have had is that the motion-triggered email notifications can occasionally be erratic when using IR. Not often that the price for this branded camera falls below £30.

I use this as a baby monitor - it was unstable for quite some time but seems to work a treat when combined with the tinycam pro android software.

Great piece of SW called iSpy I use with all my camera's now - unfortunately have to pay for the email side and cloud storage but great piece of SW that will do all the motion capture bits etc.

not sure if it is better to wait... these have been dropping price
Here's a few useful ideas: auto-email of images before (repeat: before) and after motion detection; monitor image remotely via PC browser or mobile app; auto upload to FTP; instant notification of user-selectable motion detection; and more.

Can this be installed out doors?

Theoretically yes, but practice will have limitations. Natively this camera has no weather protection so unwise to use externally without significantly sheltering it from elements. I put one of these into an old 500W floodlight casing and it worked fine. Note the usual caveat of IR reflection issues if using IR behind glass at night. Dedicated external wifi IP cameras with integral SDcard feature start at around £25 or same with pan/tilt/zoom feture are about £50 ex-UK.

Would this work better at night when combined with a PIR floodlight? The reviews suggest the night IR isn't great.

I have no issues with the IR with this model. Any cam may benefit from targetted additional IR. If considering spending £10+ on an IR flood, other cameras may provide additional beneficial options for a similar total outlay (assuming the replacement has acceptable IR performance).

is this just the older version of the 935 Hd Cam? as in are all the features the same?? (I have a 935)

935L has greater spec: higher resolution, more wifi protocols, etc. The admin / config options / remote access are essentialy similar.

No idea why anyone would want one.
