I have to agree with you.
Recently got 8650CDW for around £100 after £100 cashback, £16 quidco and £15 off code.
duplex print, colour, laser.
duplex scan too, scan both sides at the same time, paper only go in once. (can automatically skip empty page which make bulk scanning mixed single side and duplex side much easier). With ADF as well.
All my documents are now digital now. Recycled a whole cabin of documents this week.
Could not be happier. It is better than my 3150CDW, and this 3140CW. Bear in mind, 8650 is twice the height compare to 3140 or 3150.
Comes with full set catridge rather than half capacity entry ones.
The cashback deal is still alive.
For around £100, 8650CDW is a much better deal.

This has now doubled in price to £179. I think it could mean this deal has expired.

I thought that you said 8650 cashback is no longer available in your previous post.
Anyway, if the cashback is still available, the method of your payment makes no difference. It is who you buy from is important. It has to be qualified supplier.
I suggest that you read the terms and conditions.

do you know if I can still get the cash back if I use a credit card? or PayPal? the brother terms say they pay cash back via bacs payment to bank account only, and don't explain whether you can get it if a credit card or not.

3150cdw does not have scan.
If you do not scan, then 3150CDW will just do you fine.
If you do use scan, definitely go for 8650.
3150 and 8650 use the same size of desk space.
The difference is in height and weight. 8650 is more than twice the height and weight of 3150.

it seems 8650 is no longer available for a reasonable price anywhere..
I was looking for 3150CDW and came across this one..
do you think it's still be better choice for home user compared to 3150?
it looks huge..

Brother are sneaky and they really are a full high yield toner in the box, and you should get around 4000 pages out of them by resetting them. Check the urefilltoner link above, or the 8650 one I posted in the original Viking thread.

Just googled, found this. Seems to be reasonable price. I have not yet need to change them. And I do not expect to change them for a long time.
Please bear in mind that, they are higher capacity than 3140 or 3150, 4000/3500/3500/3500.

Seems my deal has pointed me (if) i buy a laser printer to a better model.. bought an ink jet but it's ink hungry !
huangxq2 to garethsmith72
19 Feb 171#39
ink jet is more costly in printing, also caused by ink dry up, and because of so may block nozzle if not used frequently.
I had three ink jets had the same problem in a line.
Never ever ink jet for me again. Laser only.

As I mentioned above, 8650CDW with duplex print, duplex scanning and ADF.
Currently has £100 cashback, you can get it for £130 after cashback. Also quidco/TCB available.
I got it for £100 after cashback earlier. Price has now increased slightly.

Spend £145 to qualify for "free" delivery to Northern Ireland? That is a total disgrace. It has to be the worst case of extortion of NI customers from any major retailer in the UK. There really should be a law against this fleecing NI residents to subsidise "free" delivery for "mainland" UK customers. Sorry but I have to vote cold on this purely because of this.
Just checked and even with the discount applied they're still looking £102. I don't think so.

Completely Agree with you, for around £100 L8650 is a real bargain!! I bought one too  quite pleased with airprint, duplex scan, duplex print and the print quality and speed..not gonna use the fax feature anyway, for about £100 thats a way better deal!!

I purchased from Viking. It is now increased the price.
You would be better buy from another supplier, such as, Printerland for £230.

I heard that from someone before. I just checked Brother website, I was wrong.
Inbox Toners - 2,500 pages* BK 1,500 pages* C, M, Y, Standard Toner Black (TN-321BK) - 2,500 pages*, Standard Toners Colour (TN-321C / M / Y) - 1,500 pages*
High Yield Toner Black (TN-326BK) - 4,000 pages*, High Yield Toners Colour (TN-326C / M / Y) - 3,500 pages*
Not the high yield toners in the box. But a lot better than the starter toner comes with 3140CW.

(194-15 off code)*1.2 = 217.80 - £100 Brother cashback - £16.3 Quidco cashback = 101.50 end price for 8650CDW.
Quidco tracked straight away.
Brother is really quick with cashback. They approved the application the same day after submission and you do not even need an invoice, just an online order print-out is fine. They confirmed that I will receive in my bank next wed.
I bought too later, the price was about £20 cheaper to start with compare to how much cost me.
I have this printer and I can recommend it. The only issue I have had is that it seems to lose its wireless connection from time to time. However, I cannot establish whether this is a general network problem or a printer problem. I suspect I have an IP address clash but I cannot get the network to renew these.

Can you set your router to give a reserved (fixed) IP address to the MAC address of the printer so the printer always gets assigned the same IP ? Might solve the problem.

I've been using this printer since Sep 2015, mostly wifi and I can confirm I never had any problem. My phones and laptop drop wifi connections but this never dropped wifi connection. Print quality is excellent and still on original cartridge.

But the price is not special. The printer is normally at this price, it has been around £80 for the past months.

Btw I think no 'd' in the model number means that this doesn't not do duplex printing but I could be wrong. I know 'c' is for colour and 'w' for wireless.
£130 for 3150CDW is the normal price on amazon every day.
If can wait, it sometime reduce price. I bought one in January for £108 less £10 offer from amazon = £98.

18 Feb 17#10
The issue with this printer is that the footprint is just the same as the larger 8 series, and the only size dimension smaller is the height. To do this it sacrifices the size of the toner cartridges which are far smaller than the 8 machines.
For not much more money they are a much better buy.

Had this printer about a year and a half and pretty pleased with it.
When it says toner is depleted it might not be - I read somewhere supply level is based on page count rather than what's printed. You can reset the toner and it will keep printing. I've now done this with each cartridge.
