Tesco Manchester - billingtons golden granulated sugar 1kg reduced to 45p! I always buy this sugar which is usually £1.90 a bag.

100% import tax on cane sugar imports from former Commonwealth nations due to CAP rules to protect the French beet growers is why Billingtons has gone from 90p a kilo to £1.90 a kilo in the last decade. Silver Spoon bleached beet sugar is still just 55p a kilo.
