You have a keeper there, wish I could get my wife to game, she'd complain about it less then!

We've played all sorts of video games together. We're currently working though Borderlsnds: The Pre Sequel which is fantastic. Recently we've completely exhausted 7 Days to Die which is another great splitscreen game

About this game... I hate it. First off, it's quite buggy performance wise and the servers lag, those things I expect to be ironed out so no reason there not to buy. - Performance on the normal PS4 was pretty bad in my case though. Much better on the Pro but not perfect.
The game itself, PvPvE - it's a joke. It takes forever to do anything, you gotta craft tools to farm stone and berries, then you have to make stone blocks to make a house but you can't make many as you can't carry enough materials. then you'll be starving and thirsty or too hot or too cold, but just as you think you're getting on harvesting materials some douchebag will come along and kill you - you lose EVERYTHING you have on you.
Lets say you finally get a house built, the "easy" one will be thatch, that can't stand up to anything, somoene breaks in and steals all the stuff you've stashed. Food, spoils even if you put it in the "fridge" well, you have to make a fridge first which isn't easy. No map to speak of, there is a map, but no reference to where you are on the map, if you get killed by another player or the many many many animals (you WILL die a lot) you may end up placed in a random area of the MASSIVE map, good luck finding your house again. I spent best part of 2 weeks solid with a group of people trying to get the basics up and running only to be attacked by people in metal armor which I couldn't damage, players on flying animals dropping T-rexs into your base and preventing you from doing anything, it's just crap. Don't buy this game it'll drive you mad

I wouldn't say his wife not liking gaming means they have nothing in common, for all we know it may be the only thing they don't have common.

Good deal, but not a finished game so I'll personally hold off until the 'final' release to see if it improves any

I wouldn't advise getting the game either. It lags more or less constantly.

me and the missus game as well, destiny mainly, we were playing borderlands (would be good as a 4 player from the start) we've not played that for a year, she likes the Tomb Raiders and is currently replaying it on Survivor difficulty. Perhaps we can play borderlands or something? PM me if your interested. We've got 2x ps4s and two tellies in the living room (I get the big one  ) people think we're nuts but I reckon more people will be doing it in the future.

@richje100 not really a fair comment since that's been that plan since day 1, the plan was to start privative and head towards the future and they've said all along they're not fixing all the bugs till all the content has been added to the game.

STOP THE PRESS
you can get this game even cheaper using cdkeys website, when I got the game it was £39.99 but got it for £35.34 using a cdkeys voucher. Using this method will save a further £2-5!

Fantastic game shame they bring updates to enhance the game such as tek gear and growing beards but not tackle the stupid amount of lag

Highly recommend this game, I would go for the full package with scorched earth because you can transfer dinos and gear from there but more importantly it plant species X, it's a plant turret that everyone as on their base which fires poison at enemies. Not to mention the huge fire breathing dragons you can fetch back! Plus when you're bored of Ark you can go on SE which is very different, and hard. Be warned the game is extremely addictive and if you can't play at least a few hours every other day then there's no point getting it.

How does this run on PS4? Last I checked, it was constantly dropping below 30fps. Any better now?

It's all PvP or PvE, just depends how you want to play it. Been playing since December, just be prepared to get swallowed up and spat out if playing on PvP servers. It's one of the most brutal games I have played......But also one of the most addictive. Heat.

not all PvP or PvE at all, there is single player, just you on the island with the dinos, it's how I play and think it's the best way if you have no intention of joining a "clan", there's no server issues, no waiting an hour to get on a server etc! straight into ur game, no worrying about being broken into when ur not there and having all ur hard work in gathering sparse resources stolen. is great!!
brilliant game. PvP is awful, I'd avoid.

Is it still a bit of a mess or have they patched it? Love the concept and was really pleased to hear it was coming to PS4 but read it was broken beyond measure and practically unplayable so thought I'd wait till May when it allegedly is finished. Split-screen with the missus would definitely be a bonus too.

Unfortunately still laggy and the rendering is really slow. But if the right server is found then it's still playable. But that's the joys of playing on an unfinished game.

I'm going to go for the founders pack. I've little to no interest in the PvP elements of the game. I'll primarily play Ark in splitscreen with the wife

I haven't bought it yet, but unsure whether to buy the founders pack or survivors ...... I'll probably go for survivors.
