20 Quid for an Android TV box running Android 6.0 (most of the cheapo boxes run Android 5) with a decent chipset (Amlogic S905X) and quick delivery from the UK. Has 1Gb of RAM (but according to reviews it runs smooth) and a remote (which is often missing on the cheap deals).

I've just been sent one of these a few days ago, I'll get a review up tomorrow on my channel if your interested. I normally do a benchmark against all the other boxes I've been sent to see how it performs.

Sorry, I searched before posting to make sure it wasn't posted already and could not find it.
Which surprised me because it looks like one of the best value deals around at the moment.
Did another search just now and can't find the previous post still :-o
the one yesterday had an inferior chooser. so heat from me

Will I be able to run Amazon Video + Now TV + Netflix on this? Roku 2 substitute?

I'm thinking of turning an underused Linx 10 tablet into a Kodi streamer. Would I be better off with this box? Bearing in mind that the Linx has 2gb RAM.

One of my friends is using a Linx 7 on Windows 10 as a Kodi stream machine. He's happy, runs well and probably more stable than some of the Android boxes + major advantage = a tablet will be getting Windows 10 OS updates (the Android boxes don't, some might receive a few updates but not continuous like Windows)
The only thing he had to buy was the HDMI lead, micro-to-regular USB cable and an external keyboard. So if you have no other use for that tablet, save some money and put it to use again

Yes you should be able to install all Android apps.
Personally I would set up a new Google account during the setup of these TV Boxes, they won't be the most secure/safe devices and some have been known to include malware :-o

Thanks. I've ordered a mini hdmi to hdmi adapter to connect it to the tv. I already have a wireless keyboard. If I ordered an OTG USB/network hub, is the Linx power adapter be sufficient to provide power for the hub as well?

If using this for Kodi and you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you may want to try installing LibreELEC (a small, customised version of Linux just for Kodi) which should work for any S905/S905X boxes: https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread-2156.html
I put it on my S905X box and it's so much more smooth and responsive than with Android... though of course you won't have the advantage of installing any Android apps.

can't see any video reviews, if Wi-Fi is rubbish then it could be an issue. there is a review of the Z11 box but it's 26 quid in Amazon

Oh. Can't you install Android as stock?
Gordon.Bell
15 Feb 171#15
They are usually android with a TV remote friendly skin, Kodi and some other apps installed (depending on brand). You can install Nova Launcher or other launcher to get it back to a tablet look.
I was referring to any potential issues with malware, being able to wipe it clean back to stock Android then re-skin it.

Oh, not sure. The boxes do have a factory reset (which will just put the default apps back on) or firmware upgrade/custom firmware option - finding the relevant firmware may be challenge:
Can you try and play an x265 hevc video please? . My Android box needs replacing as it really stutters with x265.

Good find. Can anyone suggest a spare remote for fire tv? Don't wanna spend £20 for the actual one.

Netflix yes, Amazon Maybe but it would be awkward to navigate unless you manage to install an Android TV version (the Play Store one would probably be touch interface which you'd have to use mouse like controls), NOW TV not worth it, the quality of streams is HORRIBLE on Android. Now TV Box + Fire Stick would be a suitable replacement but more expensive and not all in one.

Amazing news - the full Netflix service will be unlocked for everyone
We'll finally be able to watch shows available only to America Netflix
Just be thankful we voted to leave the EU then so this law won't apply to us.

At least 7 out of the 12 five star reviews were 'honest and unbiased' as the reviewer received a free product.

There is only 1 of the amazon reviews that is actually for this item.
The ridiculous way amazon has more than one item on a page confuses many people when reading reviews. The actual product they are reviewing is stated just under the name of the reviewer - in this case H1 . The other reviews are for different boxes ( mainly the A95 box that isn't even selling on the page ! ! )

If you want a 2GB ram box you are going to have to pay at least 50% more . The cheapest on amazon ( with the same decent S905X chipset) is £29.99 . You do also get 16GB storage , bluetooth and 5g WIFI which isn't on the cheaper model though. link here

Bought one for my FIL. He only wants it for Kodi, so it looks like I'll be installing LibreELEC. If I balls it up, it's not a lot on money lost

I have this box. Right now in google play store it tells me the latest Kodi V17 is not compatible with this device..
it's ok. It runs pretty well, mine came with billions of dodgy plugins but it was badly setup kept popping up messages about how i should support tvaddons so I wiped kodi and installed the one from play store but now that v17 is out I cannot upgrade for some reason.
Pleased to say 4K works ok although I have only tested big buck bunny and some youtube vids using youtube app (kodi youtube addon is now a steaming pile of poo requiring too many hacks, and 4k doesn't work on it but in the native app it does)
For what you pay for the box, it's really impressive actually. But don't expect to be able to upgrade the OS and maybe you wont be able to upgrade kodi either.. would still recommend it though.

you could download the apk and install v17 manually
I have a 1gb box and is great but would definitely pay a little more for future proofing

The one linked to by essexgangsta above. Same brand but labelled as H1 Pro instead of just H1. The only other one I could find at £29.99 was a different brand, but it only had 8GB storage and only one review for it.

that would be great.
Time to expire, now at 25, it's a rip off as can get 2gb ram 8 storage for similar price
Price is fluctuating massively. Up to £25 yesterday, back down to £21.99 today.
Hopefully this will be ideal for LibreElec.

True and all relative, just an option for those wanting better performance. Google will no doubt find cheaper versions

£21.99 for this box is still a great price. Cheaper than any other S905X box and no waiting for it to arrive from China.
Mine arrived yesterday and i have to say i am very happy with it so far. When first running Kodi give it 15 mins whilst it updates all the add-ons though. Then i would go through it and uninstall all the add-ons you are not interested in ( there are quite a few for foreign interests like Shalke FC , Danish news , US basketball ). Alternatively you could go into the tvaddons settings and choose clean start to uninstall them all , then just add back the ones you want .
