I'd probably have went for this if I was quick enough - my brother's looking for one.
Anyway, added this to the Mini M8S II thread and may be of interest to someone:

Kodi on Android has not really caught up with 4K yet ( because of the sheer number of different video drivers needed for all the different Android chipsets ). Probably if you enable amcodec in the video settings they may play - but amcodec can cause other Kodi issues.
Try the separate video player app on the box - if that works you can set Kodi up to use it as an external player ( if you want to use Kodi )

I've found using an external mouse sorts my remote control issue. I suspect this is a problem for all of these Android boxes. For under £26, amazing value.

Got mine today, opened it up and it's a tx5 pro 9377,you can flash tx5 pro firmware but i put LibreELEC. also from another site (if you want LibreELEC) : "For TX5 Pro owners you need to restore firmware version 20160805. Newer versions disabled the ability to boot from SD". you need Male to Male USB and USB Burning Tool.
hope it helps someone!

Ordered this last week when it was £29.99, arrived yesterday. Had loads of addons already installed, plus apps including mobdro. Bit slow within Kodi but I'm going to try a fresh install and build. My main issue is that its remote is obviously on the same channel as my TV so I'm turning the sound off, changing the source and getting the picture menu pop up when trying to navigate the box! Anyone had this and any ideas of way round it?
Also any recommendations of builds - don't want anything fancy, 90% of what I watch is on Exodus, Phoenix or UK Turks and a few others for sports.

Picking up my wifi fine, doesn't seem to have obviously dropped out, my router is in a different room and no sight line between them
i have a m8s+ with crazy blue triangle light on front that lights up the room and is really off putting when its sat under the tv. some electrical tape over that and its gone  remote still works as before aswell as i think the IR sensor is in the triangle aswell.

I can't understand the amount of heat for an item nobody has used.
Personally I stay clear of S905x, a quick Google identifies WiFi, brightness and crashing issues.
I would recommend an S905 box over S905x.

While a different brand, I've had S905x, same spec as this box, for quite a while now and have had none of the issues you have mentioned. At this price, I think it's a cracking deal, which is why I bought another. Thankfully before the price went back to £49.99.

I think you will find yours is a 1gb ram 8 gb rom box....this is a far better spec.
It doesn't look like it's been £19.99 on amazon. Did you buy it from a third party seller or did you buy a lower spec version, 1GB RAM, less storage etc?

Would the Nexbox just not power on, or reboot randomly? My Nexbox started to reboot randomly and then wouldn't turn on, so I opened it up, the box is actually well put together, the case just clips shut, the board is neat and tidy. Then I thought to try a different power supply and it worked perfectly, the mains power supply for the Nexbox was the weak point. I went one step further though and opened that up, it was actually reasonably well put together, didn't look like lots of poorly hand soldered connections or anything, but there was some buildup causing a short between two parts of the PCB, scratched off the excess so it had clearly defined tracks again, gave the board a clean and put the mains supply back together and it worked.

If I was you I'd get a fire TV box if you can afford the price difference.
I've had one of these android boxes and sent it back because it never scaled Netflix or prime video very well and was never in HD even BBC iPlayer was in a lower definition.
Maybe they have sorted it out by now but I'm so happy with my fire TV box I'm not thinking of trying another.

A small piece of Black insulation tape cut to size/shape is a quick invisible fix for any device with stupidly bright LED's...

22 Feb 17#30
Not this one — it was a band of lights around the whole width of the thing. (Have a look at the third picture below.) There was an "LED" button on the remote, but it did nothing. It would have been OK if they'd picked one colour and stuck to it, but changing colour every four seconds was a bit off-putting, especially for a box that I wanted to put in the bedroom.
Plus the remote reception was rather iffy, which didn't exactly help :innocent:

Not a hugely techy person and I know that this is a popular question with these devices but, I have Kodi on a firestick and it lags quite often. If I install Kodi on one of these bad boys will I see less of a lag? Or is it the Kodi software that is lagging and not my firestick? (It;s not the net connection that is causing the lag either).
