Some Amazon-sold PAYG SIM cards are 1p. Should be sufficient to add to the Android box to qualify for free delivery. Example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0158337OE/

S912 has greater hardware specs than lesser AML such as S905(x) but has less support and is generally unliked by those that like to play with such devices, and Kodi forums generally recommend avoid.

Add a low value Amazon-sold item to hit the MOV of £20 to qualify for inclusive delivery, if required. Best price I've seen from a UK supplier for a long time. Probably the only UK-sourced option if there is a budget of absolute max £20. Only 1GB RAM and RK3229 SOC but still capable of 10bit x265.
Edit: at time of edit, OP item is now less attractive as HUKD member reddit identified an S905x option at same price fulfilled Amazon. See post 12 below. Juggle of SOC vs quantity of USB preferences.

theres 97 billion of these on the market from amazon to ebay.heat tho because as dougle said under 20pounds for an android box. it will be worth it if you just use exodus. :smirk:

Good spot. Decent price from a UK seller, but the S912 box available from the same seller on that page for £39.99 is just about the cheapest around, including from Chinese based sellers. Same box selling for over £55 from Chinese sellers on Ebay so that's probably the better deal there
Voted hot for the other one as wouldn't have seen it otherwise :stuck_out_tongue:

There is anything what giogle do not know about you? I am amazed how many people do not read their policy or just totally ignoring... Anyway, you already got what you have deserved. 8

TBH, I may misunderstand the context of the comment as I have never been presented with a google policy to read / accept / decline whilst using my boxes. There is no obligation to register nor use a google account with these boxes, nor any obligation to use google search or native browser.

If your sole use will be as a TV box with Kodi then you would be better off with their other S905x offering at the same price.
Then install Librelec for S905x and you will have a better overall experience.

15 Feb 171#15
The 1G RAM can result in resources being hogged and preventing smooth video/audio playback in some circumstances, although it has to be said that firmware quality, which is almost always deficient out of the box is another main cause.
By essentially removing the android element and installing the much lighter Librelec, then most of the issues are not prevalent.

Even if not putting Librelec on it, it looks like the better option, both are 1GB/8GB anyway but your recommendation is an S905X Android 6.0 box which is a newer Android than this one on Android 5.1.

Why would anyone choose a firestick over this for kodi? Genuine question
AndyRoyd to wackojacko99
15 Feb 17#20
Usually: a perception of brand name comfort factor; desire for a discreet solution; ignorance to the benefits of or no requirement for x265/HEVC support; not cost-concious.

I have both & tend to use the firestick more. I have mine powered from a USB socket on my TV so it's always on when the TV is. The remotes on the cheap Android boxes are usually terrible & may contribute to premature hair loss.

I have a fire TV and personally wouldn't use anything else. Friend of mine has a entertainmentbox T8-4 and it's pants compared to it (slower, buggy and Kodi doesn't work as well on it). Bluetooth remote is worth it aswell.

Reading the notes, THIS android box has a reset button good! Beelink boxes I've seen don't!
I don't see yet how to install the 32bit version, ISTM that this should be better with only 1GB of ram: more space?

Maybe simplicity of setup? I had a firestick up and running with Kodi and Mobdro in 15 mins. I'd struggled the best part of 2 days with a Kodi box (and yes, I do know what I'm doing) which had been pre loaded with a glitchy version of android and Kodi with 3000 pointless plugins, all set to auto update. Without doubt, the boxes beat the firestick hands down on technical spec but these morons selling preloaded boxes, loaded with guff, do nobody any favours
nige182
15 Feb 171#24
That is very true, but not sure how you struggled for 2 days, most people just uninstall the crappy Kodi built in and install SPMC or clean Kodi and start fresh. Unless you got a bad box, you did say glitchy Android.

I have been running an old PC as HTPC for many years. All these tv sticks and boxes seem to be the latest craze. Would someone please give some good forum links to read up on these boxes? Gogl brings up too many non relevant links. Also, would having a megabit LAN port in the box hamper 4K playback from NAS? My home network is gigabit. Many thanks in advance.

Didn't really want to get into reflashing the android if I could avoid it but in hindsight ,it needed a complete wipe and start from scratch. You have to be so careful in matching the correct build to the processor...

Complete newbie here, would this one, or S905x be okay to install the beast and sky sports etc on? I only want it for kodi to watch tv/movies/sports on
TwistedNerve to pimmct
15 Feb 171#32
if you mean TV as in boxsets etc and not live TV, then stay away from a build, especially The Beast on this underpowered box
all you need is exodus for TV&Movies and sportsdevil for sports
google "seo Michael exodus" for full step by step instructions.. takes 30 seconds
once you've had it for a while, you might want to look at a lighter build, such as SilentHunter, as this includes all sky movies channels & 4k movies and is well looked after by the makers... again, Facebook groups and full help online, takes about 5 minutes to install a build, but stay the heck away from the big fat bloated Beast!

I've tried one of the pre-loaded Kodi boxes and it was a tedious experience. I then did some investigating and managed to install Kodi on my laptop, which was OK. I then got hold of a firestick and just put Kodi & Exodus on it and it works bang on. Just use it for films, that's all. Advantage being - comes away on holiday being so small.

To be honest - I've tried to watch BT Sport on my laptop and it's been unwatchable. Only things I can watch on are iPad and iPhone.
An Amazon-fulfilled item is required to hit the MoV for uncharged delivery. The suggested 1p Amazon-supplied SIM card has risen from originally 1p to 25p at time of post. View the various seller / price options here https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B0158337OE/
