It never ceases to amaze me how many people reply to topics they have no interest in.

I am 46 this year and love gaming whether it be on PC, Console or Mobile

My stress levels playing the games are more evident though as I not as quick thinking as the 'young uns' lol

Crikey them days on the Amstrad CPC 464 with games taking 10 minutes to load

I'm 43 and my 10-year-old daughter loves gaming too...
I'm not ashamed and nor should I be - I like what I like and I repect my daughter for not conforming to stereotypes either
I have a freind who is a similar age to me and his dad plays Destiny & The Division with us.

Again, no offense taken but I think people should do what they like doing, not what's expected of them :sunglasses:
If you have no interest in gaming, that's fine too but I just hope it's as a result of trying recently

Yeah, I guess we give O2 £10, and it gives Sony £20. Or something like that

Yeah I'm amazed that it's even still going as it is now. It'd be O2 wouldn't it?
silvercondor
19 Feb 17 #228
£20! They could quite easily change it to one free £10 per household or something. It's such a bizarre loophole. I wonder: who is really losing out with that free £10 that doesn't really exist? O2? Sony? Both? Neither?!

19 Feb 17 #227
All I would suggest is to not order too many SIMs in too short a time. O2 used to offer £20 instead of £10 until some people got carried away and abused the promo too much.

Thanks guys. Have picked up Trackmania Turbo, Killing Floor 2 and KOF 14 for the grand sum of £23.86. Thanks for the O2 tip guys.

Wondering if i should keep going and get Nioh digitally too for half price or get it physically.

14 Feb 17 #225
Well, it's £30 credit for £21. You can't get credit that cheap anywhere else. I'm particularly looking to renew my PS+ sub. I should be able to do that for £42 with £20 credit left to spend on the store; that's effectively £22.
Tequila
14 Feb 17 #224
but that's an extra £10 necessary to get £10 bonus..defeats the whole point.
I have no use for the credit on O2 pay as you go..

Hello! Right, I topped up with £10 yesterday (5.30pm) via the website, as 4444 wouldn't work.

Just tried adding £11 via 4444, and... success!

I also sent FREE10 and got my bonus credit immediately.

Actually, I appear to be the proud owner of £31 credit. Maybe the £11 topup isn't necessary?

UPDATE: Ah, it's the confirmation text that costs 10p. Can confirm I've now put £30 onto my account at a cost of £21. Hopefully it'll recognise my card with the next SIM, but I should at the very least get £60 credit for £42 (plus cashback potentially).

I've resurrected my old Desire HD. That was one delightful phone.

Anyway! Can't use 4444... yet? I'm getting various slightly questionable answers via Live Chat. I think, having topped up £10 online earlier, I might be able to do £11 via 4444 tomorrow (after 24 hours). I've been told it will work, it won't work, and it might work. Splendid.

If you get PSN credit cheap and / or game-share, yes...
If not, I'd go for physical.
You'll likely play through single-player 1-3 times (depending on how important trophies are to you) and the multiplayer mode isn't strong enough to keep you attention for very long after that imo.
So in a month or two, you'll probably want to trade it in which will leave you about a fiver down, instead of £20.

I bought physical at release, played it through quickly and traded it in for a profit... Then I bought digital over Xmas due to the price I actually pay for PSN credit

13 Feb 17 #212
Posted separately, it got over 500 heat - if that's any indication. Use CDKeys to get your £20 credit cheaper, too.

Expert trolls are able to leave just one short comment on a thread and let the Internet do the rest...
The best troll I've ever seen was a while ago... He put "I see Maggie Thatcher is ill... Fingers crossed"

I'm being told via Live Chat that credit/debit card might not work for the first topup, hmm. So do I get £10 first, *then* £11, then the free £10, then transfer £30? That kinda defeats the purpose.

Really?? Did you grow out of watching films and TV show and listening to music as well? The only reason that adults of the past didn't play games is because they didn't exist when they were growing up. I'm 43 and have been gaming since the early 80's and like with any media, my tastes have changed as I have become older, but just as with Movies, there are games specifically aimed at adults (which are actually completely inappropriate for children).

Oh and I still got into girls (have been married a while and have 2 kids), I love my cars (currently drive a BMW M135i which always puts a smile on my face) and I have consumed way more than my fair share of beer over the years. I also love eating fine food, watching Rugby League, watching movies/TV shows, playing sport and listening to music. Gaming is great though (currently hooked on Nioh, which is absolutely fantastic) and all I will say is that if you choose to dismiss an entire media (because for some reason you feel that it is just for kids), then you are sadly missing out. Also gaming is very popular with girls/women these days as well, so the old 1980's image of a spotty lad playing games on his Speccy in his bedroom is rather outdated. Each to their own though

easier said than done for majority of people.
the O2 system is refusing topup by debit cards (I tried 4 cards) so there is no way to get £11 topped up.
and the online topup and voucher route doesn't allow £11.
so many people are stuck.
and the O2 reward route takes 3 months for that necessary 50p it seems? by then this deal is gone.

10 Feb 17 #191
Sigh, such a narrow-minded comment but ill bite... Maybe get out more and you wouldn't be so surprised? Many games out there that are for adults only, gaming has moved on so much since the days of Sega vs Nintendo, its a major form of media now along with film/tv & books.

The most insidious idea about video-games ever to be repeated uncritically is that they are a young media form.

They are not. In fact, the very idea that a thing like a young medium can exist and that videogames fall into this category is a flawed, damaging concept.

Ahhhh, the beige beauty herself. This fine piece of machinery is what got me started into gaming many moons ago. Forget your terabytes, gigabytes and even your megabytes, this monster tore through games with it's impressive 16 KB of ram, lighting 2 MHz cpu and beautiful primary colour 2p display.

All this wizardry was packed into a stylish beige plastic housing and 1 ton display. Christ, I'm only 35, this takes me back. Favourite thing on the BBC was a text to speech program, swear words never got old

I recall 'Blitz' as 'VIC New York'. First game had on VIC20 when father ventured out on a winters night to collect the VIC20 as our name had got to the top of the waiting list!. Similar path: Binatone > Atari 2600 > Vic20 > C64 > Amiga 500 > Amiga 1200 > PS1 > PS2 > PS3 >PS4 (plus a Wii U and did have a Xbox360 in the house at one point). Plus Vita & 2DS still going strong. Interest not waned, but time to indulge certainly has...

Old git here. Been gaming 35+ years. Started home computing with the Sinclair ZX81. One of my favourite games was Mazogs (a maze game) by Bug Byte.

Moved on to the Commodore VIC20. Good memories of playing Blitz.

http://imgur.com/94k8m1D.jpg

I made my way through the ZX Spectrum (rubber keyed, then when it broke, the Plus+ version), and C64 (old shape), spending a small fortune on accessories along the way. I never had an Amstrad CPC. I remember when the Amiga 500 came out and being completely blown away by it. It took me saving about a months wages plus overtime to buy one, but when I did, and fired up 'Starglider 2' it made all the overtime and my lungs full of sawdust absolutely worth it.
I just wish I had time to play all these PS4 games I relentlessly keep buying.

It feels very like real football, if you like that kind of thing. Need a good footballing brain to do well. Goals feel great. Hell, even well worked moves that win you a corner feel good. I haven't gotten that feel from FIFA in years. Pes is far deeper in comparison. Having played both, last two years, it has to be pes. Lack of licenses puts some off, but the gameplay is serious.

I'm 42 been gaming since about 10 or whenever the BBC micro was released, used to have to wait 10+ minutes for a game to load, as well as rewind every few mins as it would come up with error. Then it was the Amiga 500, then Sega ETC now it's XB1 and PS4. My dad is 60 and he plays Elite on the PC. Have a son who is 12, and he loves the fact I game, as gets new consoles all the time when they get released. Think about the only consoles I have never purchased, was the Nitendo SNES and Cube. Other than that tried them all. Got a Nintendo Switch on pre-order, but may see if ebay would be a option, as Nintendo never seem to release enough of anything.

It's in the summary but basically...
You order a free SIM from O2 (use a cashback site for better value), you stick it in any old phone, you top up by £11, you send a text to a number, you wait a few hours, then you transfer £20 from your O2 credit onto PSN via the web (a confirmation text is needed, hence £11, not £10 - there are ways to save that £1 in my summary but not worth the effort IMO).
Repeat the process as often as you like (max 3 times per month) to get a maximum of £120 in your PSN wallet.
Then buy games / renew your PS Plus sub via your PSN wallet

8 Feb 17 #94
Maybe it's because I'm at work but I'm getting confused with your post. So let's say Overwatch becomes £30 on the PSN and I have like £2 on PSN wallet. I have a giffgaff sim, not O2.

Nobody on that thread needs a new SIM card - they throw it in a drawer after they've rinsed the bonus £10 from O2 (to use with CPW upgrades in 6 months :stuck_out_tongue: ).
Even without game-sharing and without waiting for O2 rewards (I never do), it works out at an £11 spend for £20 PSN credit... with a good chance of getting £5 back through TCB (so likely a £6 spend).
Have a read through my summary on the 1st page - don't go mad (there's limits anyway) and we all continue to benefit

Odd thing to say, there's more people my age (I'm 35 end of the month) that ever before gaming because we grew up with games back in the 80's. Usually the only reason someone would stop gaming is because when they have a family of their own the amount of time they can devote to a hobby declines so much that they don't have the time needed to complete many titles.

I don't know you could ever 'grow out' of gaming, it's like saying oh he'll grow out of watching movies when he's older, you might be playing Skylanders when you're 8 and Last of Us now but it would be a sad day indeed if I ever got sick of games, especially with new exciting experience like VR just becoming established.

I sometimes watch my son (aged 12) playing on his PS4 with his mates, and I can see why it might be attractive to a youngster like him, particularly at the machines are so easy to network so he can join with his friends. None taken... My reply was to explain the turn in trend away from movies toward video gaming.
Anyone can discover a love for gaming... they just need to find the right game to draw them in.
For most non-gamers, these are usually puzzle games (my folks play these mainly to keep the mind active), family games (to bridge the generation gap) or a very well-told story through gaming media.
There's a ton of VR "experience" games now that can feel very immersive - see if you can get a cheap VR headset for your phone to try it out - The more expensive VR solutions are better but it'll give you a taste

WOW shouldn't you be at school. also you do know that there are a lot more ps4 sold than Xbox one?

they are both great consoles and both have good and bad points, its only sad lonely trolls looking for attention that can't see this.

Alien Isolation if you're into buying new pants  Grim Fandango is great if you missed the PS+ offering a few months back or possibly one of the Dynasty Warrior games (massive hack and slash). Best to YouTube a few of them and see what you like

Metro Redux, Tomb Raider, Alien Isolation, Shadow of Mordor (I can't comment on whether GOTY is worth the extra), Project CARS (rock hard but very good), Just Cause 3 (although it has been less than this) and Pro Evo are all good games...
I'm picking up Coffin Dodgers and Dangerous Golf cos they look fun

Perhaps you could stretch to £21.49 for The Witcher 3 GOTY...?

A list? A list?! You heathen!

http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/gaming-poll-do-people-prefer-a-list-individual-games-over-a-complete-list-everything-2614360#comments

It's currently 23-4 in favour of list vs. individual posts, and 2 people who voted for the latter did so in error, so really 25-2

Physical game prices are often cheaper than PSN, even when PSN reduces their prices but the price shown doesn't have to be the price paid...
If you get credit via O2 PAYG and game-share with someone who is willing to contribute, you can end up paying just over a quarter of PSNs prices
