Mine just arrived seems very good value and quite swift.
Looks like its going to be a £10 unlock direct from Tescos though :disappointed:

Considering the price elsewhere, that still seems a good deal, (I.e. 75 in total is still pretty cheap) but I can understand what a nuisance that can be.

Saw this phone in Asda yesterday and for the price vs size of screen, I was amazed. I want a phone to go with BT sim I now have and want big screen to enjoy the BT sport app on. This fits the bill. A bit of investigation tells me the Asda £75 one is only 3g and that this Tesco one is 4g but would need unlocking to work with BT and is currently £20 more than it was as the time of this thread. Currently £85 - still maybe the best option for me though, even if needing to pay Tesco £10 to unlock it.

It does Have 1.5 gb ram 16gb storage. there is a setting wich makes the screen look amoled also which is a bit tooo saturated for me. As performance goes... it is smooth, soo smooth i had to go and recheck the specs.. FOR THE PRICE it deffo gets 10/10. its on Marshmallow. and with a light laucher looks just like any other android

Does anyone know how to disable and uninstall the onetouch launcher?
In settings I cannot see the option to uninstall it. I am not the most experienced with Android so I just want to use the apps without the in-built launcher and I haven't found any solutions online.
Thanks

im not gonna Google it tbh but I'd reckon slim to no chance. unless you spend 200 on a phone you won't get updates as a norm.
but mm will do fine.

If wanting to unlock your phone it seems the only way is via the network (Tesco Mobile). So you have to top up £10 and the £10 fee is taken from your payg balance.
Before loading your credit make sure to change your tariff by calling 282 otherwise (as per the Tesco Mobile website) your credit automatically converts to a "rocket pack" with allowances and your balance will be used up. Choose either the triple credit or lite tariff as these do not convert your balance unless you use the phone for calls/text/data. It takes up to 24 hrs for the tariff change to successfully go through.

Interesting.
Is there any tool or website that can compare PAYG costs by different providers?
That will help me choose the phone if I am honest as I expect to use it only every few weeks etc.

Such comparison charts are available all over the web.
However always be careful to look how old is the information shown in them, tariffs change often!
This one seems reasonably up-to-date (tells you the last time each item was checked, which is nice)
Important to keep in mind, if you're only a casual user, whichever company you decide to go with, you must make at least "one chargeable event" (only means you have to make a call, send a text, or top up) within a certain period, normally 180 days, though note some of them are sneaky and only allow 90 days, or they'll take away all your remaining credit.
Also goes without saying, of course, that any network is only of any use to you if it has good coverage in your area!

Why would you want to use any other network on it?
If it is from Tesco why not use a Tesco phone card in it?

I guess the answer is in the name of this website hotukdeals.

Unlocked means it will work on any network. This phone is locked to Tesco Mobile, so you cannot use any other sim card in it apart from Tescos, until you pay to get it unlocked, if that is possible.

Yes but what you mean by this. I have never had a mobile phone but am looking to get one - my daughter insists on it.
What is locking and blocking etc?

Not an absolutely definitive answer for you, but please be aware that the wonderfully speedy (codes received within 5 minutes!) Ebay trader I used to unlock both my Pixi4 4" and 5", states on his page "sorry this code won't work on pixi 4 6" 9001X".
Since he seemed to be by far the most popularly used, I'd imagine it would be the same answer from all of them. :disappointed:

Should have mentioned it has an annoying habit of trying to get you to download alcatel apps by saying they are updates.....but it tries to download about 6 of the same type of app ( torch x 6 ) if you don`t watch it!
