One separate padded laptop pocket with its own zip and one main pocket suitable for shopping or books etc - 27 useable litres - it fits a lot (read Amazon/Argos reviews). One zipped hidden pocket at the front. I've had one for years and carried some serious weight in it. The straps are padded and very strong. The bag is made from a pu coated material which is shower proof though I'd say waterproof myself.
