I'll have to see if they have the chickpeas on offer as well
absolutely love making meat free alternative burgers with them, mash a drained tin of chickpeas with a potato masher and add some sweetcorn, haricot beans, kidney beans etc. and cumin, smoked paprika, chilli flakes, some chopped parsley along with a squirt of lemon juice and two table spoons of flour and then just mold them into patties ready for frying or putting on a barbecue!
absolutely fab with salad in a pitta.

Tried the tomatoes before and they are very watery, just ok to add mix in with a food dish and not on their own! Not for me

^Do people eat tinned tomatoes on their own? Sounds unappealing to me..

Add some 'real' stock or gravy, a bit of spices/herbs and serve on toast covered in spread, tasty!
I freeze small tubs of unused stock or stock made gravy as they add flavour to anything, them Knorr, Oxo etc are crap flavour for full overprice - and full of crap.
My top freezer drawer is full of stock/gravy tube from cooking meat and reduced to clear fresh herbs. I just slow cooked tinned tomatoes with a small squirt of tomato paste whilst the pasta cooking with a whole pack of fresh (frozen) basil for dinner, tomatos/paste with free stock from the freezer and added fresh ground pink salt & pepper (both Poundland) add to (corn/maize/polenta flour) pasta and a massive bowl of allergen free grub 75p! STUFFED!
Sometimes until you need to evaluate food by being creative, 10 minute job for me, 75p

Yep I do - usually as part of a fry up instead of grilled tomato. Warm a tin in pan, add some salt and pepper, sometimes basil. These ones are awful for that though, very tasteless and wattery.

About time Tesco did the East End ones.

Tesco's larger stores 'up to a pound' bit has 4 veg/chickpeas/tomatoes for £1 as well as East End - usually in the alternative cuisine parts. They are usually 3 for a pound but often on promo 4 for £1.
A tin of 25p chickpeas makes a wad of hummus and dairy free meringues, add some veg dippers or 46p Tesco Value Tortillas or both  I add this choc hazelnut to meringues as a cream alternative, again Tesco £2, you just need some more veg for your main.

I'm probably being Captain Obvious but Poundland does this offer, too, stock up when I'm in the mood for chilli con carne (which is quite often :stuck_out_tongue:)

Asda do a four pack for a pound, I usually buy these and add a tin of mixed beans and a chilli sachet to my mince for chilli con carne.
Sorry, cold from me. The tomatoes are awful, very wattery and lacking in flavour. The supermarket own brand ones are a few pence more expensive but vastly superior in taste and texture

Can't recommend the Chilli Beans. The ones we had were MUSH. I complained to the company and they didn't have the courtesy to respond.

Tesco Superstore ? Have not seen one of them in Scotland in a decade, Tesco Extra 'under a quid guv' section

Thats why you add a wee squirt of tomato paste and heat low slowly to evaporate and thicken/flavour it up.
I never use tinned tammytoes without a wee squirt of tammytoe paste - its a professional kitchen basic.
