Perfect monitor for everyday use. Looks awesome and Full HD is more than enough for sitting a few feet away. And honestly how much content is there for 4K anyway. Wait for another 3 years before buying a 4K monitor. Oh, this of course does not matter is you have loads of money to spent!

I don't know how far you sit away from your monitor but it must be far!

At 27" on a monitor it is easy to see the difference between 1080p, 1440p and 4k.

I've just bought a mac mini and in the market for 2 new monitors, will these do the trick? or does anyone have any recommendations?

Everybody has different requirements and preferences for monitors. Arguing about it is pointless.

Content? There are people who work on their computers, so being able to view multiple sheets of A4 side by side or having several browser windows on screen simultaneously, or being able to view and work on large photos without scrolling, are things that make hi-res worth it.

For watching movies, I can recommend investing in a television set.

Yep such is the way with monitor shopping. Best advice is make sure you get one from a reputable store so you can return it within the 14 day cooling off period (for any reason, even if you just don't like it)

The perfect monitor (for me) would be 27" 1440p VA panel ....except they don't exist ... stupid manufacturers :disappointed:

Yeah thats always the thing with reviews. Some years back, i remember i used to buy monitors from store and there were no reviews as such and still i enjoyed every bit of it. But nowadays you never can get the perfect monitor coz you know there are a hundred things wrong with it but well its not possible to get the perfect monitor as even the costliest monitors have problems :smiley:

I thought 1440p was the recommended resolution at this point? I'm looking for a monitor at the moment and it is so hard, as soon as I find something I think is suitable, I read reviews on backlight bleed, stuck pixels and god knows what else.

May be you are right there is a difference. But there is hardly any content for 4k, so even if i were to ge a 4k monitor, i cannot justify the cost. Full HD monitors have just the right sweet spot :smiley:

I struggle with anything under 0.28mm as the text is too small and gives me a headache.

Both sides of the debate are silly as it depends on viewing distance. A slim ikea desk that's barely deep enough for just the monitor stand and keyboard and has your knees touching the wall behind requires a quite different DPI to a big executive desk that lets you stretch out your legs and still not touch the back.

And complicating things you have the fact that smaller 3840x2160 & 5120x2880 displays are intended to be used as HighDPI/Retina type screens with sizing set to 200% so the extra pixels are used for more detail at the same size, rather than displaying things smaller.

Personally I sit around 1-1.2m away so I'd find 1920x1080 at 27" the best resolution for my setup, but plenty of people sit at half that distance and find 2560x1080 at 27" usable.

27" of glorious 1080p, the pixels are the size of Lego blocks. None for me, cheers.
