Sailed a few times with Royal Caribbean. Great ships, lots to do. However two big issues with this: crossing the transatlantic at that time of year is temperamental, this is a cruise ship and not an ocean liner like QM2 so won't cope with rough seas as well and the weather is going to be at the very least cold meaning on deck activities likely to be zero which forces everyone inside meaning it gets very busy on sea days.
Also drinks are expensive and more so currently as they are in dollars. $6.95 for a beer, $12 for a cocktail, $10 min for a glass of wine, all plus 18% service charge. A drinks package is just over £40 per day.
Finally factor in the $13.50 per person per day service charge added to your onboard account.
Still love cruises but this one IMO wouldn't be ideal as a taster cruise.

Excellent price op, showing on royal caribbeans website as £699 without flight & stay. Very tempted to book, anyone booked with cruise nation before that can give me some feedback. Only booked direct with RSC before

we booked with cruise nation and i was very unsure as the price was crazy for what we got! however they were upfront they have a booking charge and that transfers on our cruise werent included. They were really good and everything was perfect  so dont be put off.

Cruise Nation are fine, booked a few times, no probs. They do charge a booking fee though, £19 per person if i remember correctly. They wouldn't negotiate that with me.
Lots of days at sea in this cruise, so may not suit everyone. Miami would be great weatherwise in November. You may get stung with extra luggage charges when flying home, so best to check. Hot from me. If you buy enough Carnival shares, you'd get a hundred odd quid on board credit as a shareholder perk.
I got the email too, and i think the 16 days included the 3 night Miami stay, so a 13 night cruise. Not certain now, but worth checking.

No it won't be, that only applies to Med sailings, not transatlantic sadly, and also not on Guarantee cabins.

aye, choppy waters! although, I quite like that kind of things. and it may be good as the boat is likely to be fairly empty or people staying in cabins throwing up

I went last year and spent 4.5 hours queuing to get through immigration on board. Expensive drinks also beware of extra charges.

Me and the wife are going on this cruise. We booked through cruise1st.co.uk but got 5 nights in orlando after the cruise at the rosen inn resort on international drive. We paid £899 flights included to manchester

We are flying back to manchester after the cruise But the cruise sails from southampton so cruise1st have a bus to transfer you from manchester to southampton before the cruise. Our friends are flying back to gatwick but no bus for there transfers

You'd need to buy RCL shares for potentially $200 on board credit, although this could be a special fare and therefore ineligible. Carnival most certainly won't give you anything for sailing on the competition!
kevinyork
4 Feb 17#26
You got their before me, yes definitely RCI shares, not Carnival. But you won't know if you will get any on board credit till you have the shares then apply for the credit, they have lots of exclusions to avoid giving you credit. However we got our shares at $30 four years ago and they are now around $93. We've been given $500 total on board credit over the years when they have allowed it but the increase in share price has been a nice bonus.

I wasn't aware that shareholders got an onboard credit. As I have two cruises booked for this year (Royal Carr ibean and Celebrity) it may be worth it. Who did you use to buy the shares?

Hi
Sorry missed your response. I use Sippdeal as their charges seem low. Be aware you need 100 RCI shares for Royal Caribbean or Celebrity On Board Credit which will currently cost around £7800.

Don't worry about the travel agents being able to price this much lower than RCI,
Cruise lines sell at extra discounts through agents that package to hide the true discounts on the cruises to those that have paid more.
