Walk into any Mcdonald's that has the new digital ordering screens.

1) click I have a voucher code button (top right of screen)

2) open your smart phone and zoom into the barcode on the image I put in the link

3) smile as you now have burger and fries for £1.99

4) if they ask for the voucher just say sorry its on my phone.

I have been dong this for months now.

Enjoy.

why would the voucher be on your phone in the first place - since it wasn't sent by email or app?

It's called a loophole, one that McDonald's didn't think of ,same as your politicians exploiting loopholes to make millions while you work your a** off to pay taxes.

In my previous ignorant of the facts about McCafe's I visited one today and it was a terrible experience and something I don't wish to do again, those screens are terribly in informative and terrible to navigate even with the help of a senior assistant and looking around I could see why the place was empty, I was the only customer. I had a word with the manager about it and he seemed unconcerned and not bothered when I told him if this was the new McDonalds I would now be new Burger King customer. When I said it was supposed to be a fast food restaurant his response was something like good food fast. The prices were higher than my usual outlet for McDonalds and the beef patties appeared much smaller. luckily they haven't all gone that way yet so I will still be able to buy in the good old fashioned personalised service at the counter and get my usual extras like extra milk and sugar with tomato ketchup without having to get it brought to me by a waitress/waiter after one or the other has brought my order to me. I now know why people bombed me for my previous comments and I apologise to them and anybody else who stuck with my saga.

No luck here, went through the machine all fine, they asked to see the voucher, I said it was on the phone, was all fine until the manager came in and demanded to see the voucher, he said that the whole loophole is a scam and that everyone needs their own physical voucher.
deb8z
19 Mar 17 #568
Firstly "you lot" implies it's everyone and I for one have never done this "hack"I hardly ever use legitimate vouchers because it's too much hassle,I had ones sent to me from Britvic directly & Iceland wouldn't accept them

Anyway, that aside,as people have said this offer is promoted all the time in newspapers and via surveys etc so they can't be losing money on selling it for £1.99.

I'm sure there's another way it could be handled rather than simply throwing good food away "sighs"
kebabthief
19 Mar 17 #567
I believe it is. We told them that. "Sure, you're no longer accepting the voucher, but is snatching the food off the customer mid-meal the way to deal with it?". To be honest, she was rather rude the whole time.
soldierboy001
19 Mar 17 #566
It's all about you lot and your greedy fiddles and not about McDonalds who provide a good service all year around. What about the hundreds doing this and being told next time we won't offer it to you, but you come back time and time again hoping they will be saying that they will honour it this time. Think outside the bubble and realise it's not only you.
deb8z
19 Mar 17 #565
I don't know why they aren't just telling people they will honour it this time etc but don't do it again,it's terrible reading all these stories of food being thrown away.

As this was in lots of Newspapers, people who have had problems like this and had food wastefully thrown away should contact them

Just used this at Leyland for 2 meals. They brought the food to the table, then came back after I already started and took it off me (such a waste of food) and said that they'll refund it and can I place the order again without the voucher (which I did). Still yet to see a refund though. So it's not ok to take advantage of their loophole but it's ok to keep my dosh. Will wait until Monday and then complain if still no sign of a refund. Anyone know the best path to complain to head office?

Oh, and when I was at the machine, the member off staff came up and coyly whispered that if I give him £5 in cash, he'll bring it all back. It isn't even £5 extra to buy them full price. I'm not sure it would have gone in the till if I'd have complied.

Entered the code into the ordering machine from metro for £1.99 Big Mac and fries today. Was not asked to produce a voucher when I collected the food. If they would have asked for it then I had the voucher from the metro ready to gve to them. No need to bs them about having the voucher on my phone. I work at McDonalds and they are fully aware of this. Staff are being informed that if the reply 'it's on my phone' is given when they ask for a voucher they have to give the customer a choice to pay the full price (£4.08 in my store) or get a refund. Refunded a guy today, got called every name under the sun. I laughed.

Not sure if already mentioned in the last 14 pages here, but you can get Big Mac & Fries for £1.99 by just keeping your receipts and filling in the survey on McdFoodForThoughts.com. No names or emails asked. Takes a minute. Then you get another receipt from your order and repeat... over and over until you pop.

He handed me my bag of **** food, but not before asking which bin I'd thrown it in  weird. I gestured to one. Then left.

Guys, it's over. Don't do this anymore unless you have a plan or you will embarrass yourself. McDonald's is fully on top of this now and have started hardlining. They're making managers handle ALL voucher-by-kiosk orders and demand vouchers or no sale. I managed to get it today but only because I purposefully confused the hell out of the manager after she demanded the voucher so she just gave it to me LOL. She was pretty mad

I wouldn't be worried to be honest. The reason this works in the first place is because mcdonalds are lax about these vouchers even before this. They don't check because even the staff know that these vouchers are practically in infinite supply. There's no point. When you hand the voucher to the cashier they trash it in the bin immediately so how would anyone even know that they check for hand-ins? Also I doubt staff are going to waste their time on hand-ins when mcdonalds are busy. Half the time they don't even remember to put your sauce in because they're rushing so much.

It's clearly written in the instructions at the top of the thread.

Technically it is voucher fraud as the voucher states it is only able to be used in those specific locations. It is up to Mcdonald's to update their computer systems and enforce the rule that the physical voucher must be handed in. There is a video of the touch screen used to get a free drink during the monopoly promotion last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2utSMLAYUXA - not that I condone it, it's just showing that it is possible.

Yes they have those here in Spain but I never use them, prefer the personal touch and get extra ketchup and sugar etc. but that doesn't explain how you can use a voucher. When they give you your food do they give you a refund of the difference after you show them the voucher?
dmn001
22 Feb 17 #450
The touch screens don't have any place to put any paper vouchers in. Here is a link to what they look like, they are card/phone payment only and a lot of stores in UK and USA have converted to them, at least the ones I've been to.

I cn't understand all these reports, because in all the McDonalds I've been in, in America, The UK, Germany, Spain and Thailand they take the money and vouchers before they make up your order, so why are some of you reporting that they ask for the voucher at the collection point. I tried this in Longwater Norwich, the checkout girl said she needed a voucher, I told her I binned it, she got a manager out and then tried to tell me off and educate me on their policies, I told her look either take the difference or refund me because I never saw anywhere about what I could and couldnt do, had a queue behind me staring, I didn't care but I could feel my cheeks reddening as she harped on and on, in the end she said I could have all the food, but I wouldn't suggest anyone else bothers with this " hack ".

I had a similar issue

I had a similar issue this morning.. Ordered sausage muffin and a coffee and on collection they demanded to have the voucher, I told them it's on my phone and they said they had to have it off me, so I would have to pay the full price... When I refused she said I would have to have a refund which she kindly did and then threw the food in the bin..What an A*** hole.. I dont get embarrassed easily so I shrugged it off and walked out. But beware.....

It's not a hack, loophole, fraud or anything. It's just a voucher, no different from photocopying any other voucher. It's up to the restaurant whether they accept copied vouchers or not. In any case McDs burger and fries isn't really worth any more than £1.99 at the best of times.

I used this today. It worked on those screens but the lady came over and asked for the voucher. I told her its on my phone and she asked to look, i showed her the voucher and told her i had recieved it through the postbox at home. She told me she had to get the manager to see if i could use it, the manager said no and that we would have to pay the extra money because they dont know how many times we have scanned that code. We ended up getting our whole meal refunded and walking out embarrassed. This was at castlegate dudley mcdonalds, other mcdonalds may let you, but just a warning if you're visiting this one

Why would they ask when you collect? You order and pay on the self service. Even if they did ask, the order has been accepted and payment taken so its tough whether they want the voucher as it's already accepted and processed. In terms of cheating, I wouldn't say it's cheating as these and various other £1.99 vouchers float around all over the country and they still make money on it... When I worked in McDonald's, a drive thru restaurant, we always accepted any McDonald's vouchers even if they were non drive thru restaurants only. These vouchers still get you in the door and get you buying food. They're happy as long as there is money coming through the door

I wouldn't be surprised if McDonalds themselves put this out to encourage the young savvy and cynical Hot Dealers to go McD's and buy a few loss leaders (they still turn a profit, just a smaller one) and encourage faster public adoption of the digital machines. They aren't losing money with these tokens (which is why they are in every free Metro paper anyway), a Double Cheeseburger is only £1.50 normally, a medium fries cost's very little to make. A big Mac is just a Double Cheeseburger with different sauce, a seeded bun, an extra piece of bread in the middle and a bit of limp lettuce, probably an extra 10p's worth of ingredients, but they rely on people looking at the above till menu and getting a medium-large meal that's in big letters for £4-£7. Plenty of people will still do that anyway, and more people that wouldn't normally bother will go and buy stuff before 5th March at least.

How so? You're not claiming a different food to what the barcode is for? McDs are perfectly happy with this deal and are still making profit, or else they wouldn't offer it. These deals are delivered to drag people back to McDs who aren't normal customers, thereby expanding the customer base. This "hack" achieves the same thing for them, so is actually in their favour. Getting all uppity and trying to claim its somehow dishonest is just silly.

McDonalds are aware of this and i suggest you use it while you can. This will work 99% of the time at the moment.

When Monopoly starts in March this will stop as physical evidence will be required. e.g a voucher to be handed in or a refund/more money required.

Kiosks also have options for these barcodes to be removed, which if are abused, they will be. Benefit while you can

the receipts for most* KFC's and McDonalds have a link to an online survey, do the survey and they give you a 5 digit code that you write on the receipt, hand it in next time you go and get bigmac n fries for £1.99 or at KFC you get 15% off your next bill,
the thing is, they have no way of checking to 5 digit code, so you dont need to do the survey, just write 5 random digits onto the receipt

*not all branches give out these receipts but most do

Hunt3r88
19 Feb 17 1 #134
Well I wouldn't do that unless you want to embarass yourself. Generally, customer assistants don't give a c**p about asking you for a voucher. if a manager will be giving out your order he will ask for a voucher and if you don't have it you will not receive your order. If you want your order in that case, you will be asked to pay the difference. I had that situation, because I just took a pic of leaflet and I was using it untill I encountered a manager.

Yes but we as employees are told we can accept the vouchers, I work in the drive thru at least twice a week and we get 10+ 1.99 vouchers when I'm on cash and headset, all 1.99!vouchers for McDonald's say excludes drive thru stores but as a store we lose business if you go somewhere else
louiselouise
19 Feb 17 #132
Like others are saying, you're not really cheating as this £1.99 offer is so widespread, it's as easy as picking up a discarded bus ticket in my city - if you really must have a physical voucher.

The tear-off vouchers I get state it's for city centre McDonalds only, no Drive Thrus, but I've found they usually let you use it elsewhere. Just depends on the manager.

I work at a McDonald's, with a drive thru and we have never ever handed out 1.99 vouchers for our store, but we accept any stores voucher and like previous comments have said it's literally if the manager goes by the book, the vouchers normally just get ripped up and put in the bin when you hand it in, or if you go through drive thru mention you have it when ordering and you have a 50/50 chance of the cashier asking for the voucher

Clearly for a valid reason as well. Guess there's always one sour grape in a bunch.

Using a voucher multiple times does not fall under remit of logical or rational.... much like your earlier comment containing 'disingenuous' (out of context, but 10 for effort) it holds zero relevance.

Your view has been pretty much destroyed by several people on here so I think the odd insult thrown your way is warranted - or logical, or rational, or disingenuous - you carry on using English in your own unique way. I'm sure someone will give you a hug.

Let me clear a few things up here
1. Vouchers don't go to head office
2. Vouchers can be used at drive thru stores ( technically any store in the uk because all our tills have the options) (but that is up to the cashiers or managers option)
3. With vouchers on your phone if they question it just say you downloaded from a e newspaper and they're in date.
4. Like 2 it's at the cashiers or managers descion but normally you can choose either, Big Mac fries, quarter pounder fries, chicken sandwich fries, Double cheeseburger L fries, veggie deluxe and fries, 6 nuggets and fries, fillet of fish and fries, and either Big Mac, Quarter pounder or fillet of fish and a medium drink. Or either the breakfast voucher which is a single sausage or bacon mcmuffin and drink.

In the end it depends weather or not the worker cares a lot and also if the manager follows the rule book. At my store we allow all of these options listed. ( Thurmaston)

Actually I'm focussing on the one person who throughout this thread has argued most with multiple people... that would be you.

Have you upped your dose without consulting your GP first? That would logically explain your rationale.

Consider that I only go In Mcdonald's maybe 2 or 3 times a year, this might encourage me but then I wouldn't be back for a long time.
Don't you think the manager would want me to come back more, even if he's only making £1+ profit on the £2 burger and fries? Overheads are already paid, my custom is a bonus.
Especially as I would probably buy a strawberry milkshake on top, which I imagine is the point of these "2 salty items but no drink for £x". Profit on drinks is especially crazy.

I'd file this under the same sort of thing as repeatedly signing up to services (Now TV, for example) as a 'new customer' by using a different email address to take advantage of new customer deals.

Funny story. This won't work all the time but you can actually walk into mcdonalds and ask them for straight up for £2 big mac and fries. I went into mcdonalds once and had a voucher and I went to use it and when I gave the lady the voucher she said just keep it. That surprised me. So a few days later I'm in the same mcdonalds and I figure I'm just going to ask for this without a voucher and see what happens. The guy there actually gave it to me lol. I tried it again in some other mcdonalds (few weeks later) the guy there did it for me also. Worth a shot. McDonalds have been running this thing for years and it's in the paper literally every day. I don't think the staff care anymore about the vouchers.

Also I've since discovered you can make some odd requests, like asking for big mac sauce on a chicken sandwich or other switch ups. Have fun.

The McDonalds vouchers from WHSmith also work. I have a few from 2016 that I always use and I find the staff hardly ever ask for it.

the wife gets the bus to work and they have the big mac/chicken sandwich and fries for 1.99 on back of bus ticket .. but you can get up to 3 of them at once from one ticket (3 barcodes)

I hate these submissions. It's not a deal, you can scan a different barcode for anything at any self-service checkout.

It's the equivalent of sticking on a different barcode to your food before scanning it, don't talk nonsense to try to justify it.

What if they ask to see the code on your phone.
Also isn't it cheaper to buy the burger and chips separately at 99p each?

Not for a double & large fries.

There are not the cheap burgers.... these are for Big Mac, Fillet o fish, Chicken sandwich or quarter pounders

It's quite funny that the advert right above the photos of the food on the linked page is "3 FATIGUE CAUSING FOODS. BOOST YOUR ENERGY BY NEVER EATING THESE 3 FOODS!"
