I would question why they have at least 80+ customer returns of this item to sell on eBay...

Everyone slamming 1gb on Windows needs to actually try it. Are you going to sit with 20 Chrome tabs open? No that's insane for a device that costs £30. Can you check email, fiddle with a Word document, run Kodi? Absolutely, and it has HDMI out which gives it a huge advantage over any cheap Android tablets.
My favourite feature of Windows 10 on these cheap tablets is the Project to this PC feature. Boom, £30 wireless display you can throw in your backpack when you need a little extra screen real estate on the go.

Missed out on the Android version of this tablet. I ordered a couple from Amazon but after a day or two the order was cancelled as no longer in stock. Decent price so have some heat, don't think these are for me though as the tablets are for kids and a Windows tablet would probably not be suitable.

Can't knock the price but 1gb RAM is in no way adequate for Win10. 2GB is absolute minimum. Guess the 80+ returns are from displeased users.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service Zoostorm has. They replaced a faulty screen on my laptop in no time, and it was nearing the end of warranty.
This tablet seems to be identical to the Linx 7's. I thought people got on well with the 1gb ram at the time. I had the 2gb version which worked well for what I needed it for (travel gaming, browsing)

I'm sorry but you shouldn't even be running a mobile OS like Android on 1gb ram nevermind a full desktop OS like Windows 10!
I have a Linx tablet with a better CPU and 2gb ram and that is the absolute minimum for basic needs like Netflix and web browsing - don't waste your money on this, you will be disapointed unless you play on using it as a paper weight

Absolutely - a Windows 10 tablet for £30 is amazing if you have a use for it.
If you require 2gb ram, 4gb ram, 16gb ram etc, then get something else, but it'll probably cost more than £30.
This is great for someone who just wants to do individual basic tasks that require Windows and no more than 1gb ram.
I use a similar device for a simple task that this is very capable of, and I wouldn't want to pay more for specs I won't use.

Amazing is going a bit far. RRP for this is under £50 and it's been on sale brand new for £34 (maybe less) on a few occasions. IMO this is a bad deal considering it's a pretty poor product and a minor saving.
I have tried 1GB on Windows and it's not acceptable to me. Yeah, it does work, and if you're mindful of it, it may be good enough for your needs. The average user will find it frustrating. The price isn't low enough to offset this, especially seeing as you can get 2GB for not a lot more, or even less on the odd occasion.
Refurb tablet deals come and go quite frequently. A good one to look out for is the Prestigio deals from Maplin (posted on here at £35). As an example, for less than this I picked up a Visconte 2 10" 2GB/32GB, and for £10 more a Visconte 3. Both retail for around £200, although they aren't worth that, they are very usable and a much better option.

definately. i have a linx7 and a connect 9 and either via kodi or vlc i can play video files in HD either from SDXC card or streamed from home network or online and output to projector and it all works pretty well
one tip from me is when setting up programs and settings on these small screen tablets, i found using team viewer was the easiest method. so i use my desktop pc to remote to the tablet and can use a proper keyboard and mouse and monitor so i can see what i'm doing. of course you can connect a mouse and keyboard to the tablet but remote access is easier in practice
i was planning on getting a 10" tablet, preferably with 2gb ram but got the connect 9 for about £34 as it was such a good deal. the extra size makes a fair difference as touch screen on a 7" windows tablet can be frustrating. it's better on the 9" but compared to the ease of use of my ipad which is aging now, it's not great really. what i do like about the windows tablets is the fact they run full proper windows and i can run all sorts of stuff that android/ios devices can't
popoyaya
28 Jan 172#28
A slightly better alternative to this would be the Connect 9 for £32.50 from Tesco Outlet on ebay. 32GB storage and 8.9" screen...
Anyone know if it would be able to run a movie ? or would it grind to a halt.

Fine for various uses. It would run through movies fine providing you're not locally trying to transcode them.
Other uses, Kindle reading, Sonos controller, Smart home controller, CCTV monitor, baby camera monitor connected to IP cam, locked down for kids to YouTube on.
Decent value, no doubt.

Don't be silly. I haven't voted this cold as I don't know a similar spec machine for similar / lower price but that is because I wouldn't ever recommend 1gb ram for even the most basic of tasks. My advice to those considering this for basic tasks would be to look out for the tablets with at least 2gb ram which have been frequently turning up on here for around £40 as the £10 increase for double the ram will make a lot of difference.
And FYI, this is my area of expertise so actually I do know a lot about this and then some.

The fact you state you shouldn't use a device with 1gb of ram and suggest it's going to be a paper weight casts some doubt that this is your area of expertise.
So why don't the people who make sweeping comments that these devices are no use just defer to the people who have and do use them.
There are plenty of simple tasks for which 1gb is just fine.
carsick77
29 Jan 17#36
You are acting like I didnt provide an example of how bad this device will be. I was just providing advice based on my experience of devices with 2gb with similar and better CPU's than this -
The one with the same CPU barely even streams YouTube or Netflix in SD smoothly so with 1gb I can't see it being bearable at all.
I stand by my statement that using Windows 10 out of the box with 1gb is a very bad idea and won't even be usable for basic tasks with a really bad user experience.
Remember, 2gb devices are little to no money more so there is little reason to consider such a device.
BigYoSpeck
29 Jan 17#37
But you've just made my point for me. 'I can't see it being bearable' you're hypothesising it's performance. People who have them or have used them have said they work fine. Actual experience.
My parents use a 1gb linx device, and it's fine for Kodi, YouTube and basic tasks.

so far i've not used mine much but i had it set up to do pretty much that thing and intend to do it for some parties later. i suggest you give it a trial run first to make sure the thing doesn't overheat etc if it's going to be running for hours. my linx7 was getting a bit warm when i had it on for an hour or so running updates etc yesterday. i previously used laptops to do the same thing. both the connect and linx7 played 1080p material btw but mostly i was playing long 6 hour SD videos (as i'd edited everything together to last the length of an event) that were about 20gb in size for an mpg

Been playing around with the Connect 9 tablet, which has the same specs as this but bigger screen, and it runs really well with 1GB ram. It's a nonsense that these are useless machines. Great for gaming, browsing, film watching.
