Yooka-Laylee is an all-new open-world platformer from key creative talent behind the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games. Reformed as Playtonic Games, the team is building a spiritual successor to its most cherished work from the past!
Playtonic’s new heroes, Yooka (the green one) and Laylee (the wisecracking bat with big nose) were conceptualised from the ground up for stellar platforming gameplay, created by the same character artist behind the rebooted Donkey Kong family and legendary N64 heroes Banjo and Kazooie.

I genuinely find the discussion of scores and Metacritic averages equally depressing and pathetic. I've played games that have "6/10" that have been fantastic (mechanics focused or incredibly thought out) and 9/10's that feel as dull as dish water to me. Modern reviews are increasingly poor barometers of determining a "good" or "bad" game, but merely measuring mass market appeal.
Anyway, reasonable price for a new game, thanks OP.

Industry moved on? The same industry that releases reiteration after reiteration of fifa and cod?

I dont care what reviews give it, based on what I have seen this looks like the Banjo 3 game everyone wanted but never got, heat for the price as well!

Really looking forward to this (currently re-playing through Banjo!) and that's an absolute bargain. Cheers OP! Pre-ordered but may cancel after seeing what happens with the Switch as that'll be a day one purchase for sure!

Are games that start off at 30 quid usually quite short in hours of gameplay?

Id suggest waiting till release, or at least reviews come out, if you want to know anything like this as things like price and filesize mean nothing when it comes to playtime, enjoyment, quality, etc.

The game will feature an optional "N64 shader" mode, which will imitate the graphical appearance of Nintendo 64 games
Also local multiplayer, looking forward to getting this,I also kickstarted

Can we please stop making assumptions about the quality of unreleased games? Haven't we learned by now that the only time we can really discuss the quality of a game is when it's released?
I'd even say it's best not to buy/preorder any game (subject to circumstances e.g. likely rarity, etc.).

Haha at some of the comments here. I have no doubts that this game will perform extremely well and this is an amazing price - get it while you can.
If you're not a fan of this genre, that's cool. But there is absolutely space and demand for this type of 3D platforming. This game will mark a shift in the gaming world, mark my words.

You seem to imply that this'll become hard to get but that seems unlikely. YL will probably be one of the best 2017 games and with it being on multiple platforms everyone will be able to play it.
I'm leaning more towards getting it for the Switch just to keep up with the tradition.

Exactly my point. I'm happy if my clients get 6-7 out of 10. Totally respectable score, like I said earlier. A lot of people just don't understand scoring systems, it seems.

You just know this will get 6/10 review scores at best because the industry has moved on.
I won't be surprised if Knack has a better rating on Metacritic.

I know, but the gameplay looks fantastic for a classic bit of 3D platforming, having played the Toybox Demo it does seem quite good but obviously not a patch on what the main game will be
eripmav to sparc
8 Jan 17#15
It'll get an average of 8/10. Too much riding in this to be a poor title. Even so, 6-7/10 is a bloody respectable score.

Merely letting people know, since the OP compared it to GAME's higher price but forgot to mention that it included the DLC.
Besides...£6 for an extra world which cannot be found in the main game doesn't sound too bad, when you consider how much of a rip off some DLC can be for other games out there!

Not sure if everyone is aware, but the GAME edition has exclusive 'ToyBox Plus' DLC...which kind of justifies the extra £6 premium.
