after some help if possible!
I have a Huawei P8 at the moment, it is on contract with around 8 months left to run but the ear piece has broken and I kind of need to replace it. I like the P9 but the lite is around £250 sim-free which is a little over the top for me (I used to spend a fortune on phones) so I am considering a chinese phone. However, I cannot wait for the long delivery times as I need it pretty sharpish. Would anyone know of any UK suppliers where I can purchase a chinese phone from and also what phone they would recommend that is similarly specc'd to the P9 or better?
Thanks
IrfanShaukat to brettytopbanana
9 Jan 17#23
Delivery time is 2 weeks from this seller normally on standard shipping
Amin to brettytopbanana
10 Jan 17#57
would cost about as much as the p9.
a UK importer would need to buy it in advance, ship it in, be exposed to import tarriffs, and then add the VAT, something to cover them in case of distance selling regulations and warranties, and then add a margin, you can easily pay double from a vendor, pre landed in the UK.
maybe check out gumtree or buy used from ebay?
the wait time is what enables the discount in my opinion. (the phone has never been officially released outside of asia.)

Redmi note 4 has 4100 mAH battery elephant s3 only 2100
They're both 3GB/32GB so there's no differences. For the Redmi Note 4, the "Prime" naming isn't official but sometimes sellers use "Prime" to differentiate between the RAM/Storage sizes. Since there is a 2GB/16GB Redmi Note 4 model, it's considered as the base model whereas the 3GB/32GB and 3GB/64GB versions might be called "Prime" or "High". This is down to seller naming convention though. It can cause confusion since Xiaomi have officially used "Prime" in some of their phones where the differences could be more than just the RAM/storage. For example the Redmi 4 Prime compared to the Redmi 4 is basically a whole different phone. For the Redmi Note 4 however, the only current variation is the RAM/Storage sizes. So a RN4 3/32GB version that says "Prime" will be no different compared to one that doesn't say Prime.

dreadzone101
10 Jan 17#40
I guess it may come in handy if you're downloading a lot of game apps that take up a lot of storage since moving them to SD isn't always straightforward. "Pro" is another name that can get used by sellers a lot when it doesn't always equate to any differences. This Redmi Note 4 3/64GB "Pro" will be the same spec as this 3/64GB "Pro Prime" and this 3/64GB "Prime". However for Redmi Note 3, depending on seller the differences could be "Pro Prime" = Snapdragon 3/32GB, "Prime" = Mediatek with 3/32GB, "Pro" = Snapdragon 2/16GB. Neither "Pro" or "Prime" = Mediatek 2/16GB. But again it's dependant on the seller so it might not always be the case. The differences in seller naming when it comes to Xiaomi phones is a mess!

Honestly anyone looking for a new smartphone should really look into the Xiaomi smartphone line. They are excellent value for money, and come packed with some great specs/features at a fraction of the cost of high end phones. It was dramatically cheaper for me to import a Xiaomi phone and a case from China than it was to buy a similarly speced or budget phone here. I have the Redmi Note 3 international edition, after flashing the ROM , it is working like an absolute dream since Christmas.
Pros, Very fluid, large Full HD screen(still think it's a tad too big for me!), battery lasts me around 1.5-2days with my medium usage and has some fantastic customisation options which is something I clamoured for on my old phone. There are some issues though, such as camera not being great in low light, constant syncing with Google accounts, no gorilla glass and a very slippery metallic back cover (get a phone case when you purchase a Xiaomi phone like this).
However the pros far outweighs the cons for me . This is a brilliant starting point for Xiaomi newcomers and the HUKD/Xiaomi forums are extremely helpful in setting up your phone for the first time. I implore you all to give it a try and stop paying for overpriced smartphones from the likes of Apple & Samsung!

I do a lot of sports stuff and use an ANT + heart rate monitor strap, which I find more reliable for metric logs than Bluetooth Smart. Anyway just wondering if someone would be kind enough to run the ANT+ tester app ( play store app) to determine if this phone would work with ANT + bike accessories ( bike GPS computer & ANT Heart rate monitor strap)
Hopefully deciding factor before before committing to purchase
Cheers much

If you can put the official global xiaomi rom on it then you'll be fine. Playstore installed as standard and no Chinese bloat apps. Beware however a lot of third party sellers seem to place their own roms which often are bloaty and don't get proper updates.

There is no Redmi Note 4 B20 version. I've seen a few people suggest there will be soon because a "Redmi Note 4X" has been leaked which is rumoured/expected to be RN4 with Snapdragon. However for RN3, it went from RN3 MTK > RN3 SD 'Pro' > RN3 SD 'Pro SE'. B20 wasn't included until the "Special Edition" which was the Taiwan release, whereas I think the initial Snapdragon version was mainly intended for India (no B20). I'd be sceptical about "Redmi Note 4X" having B20 but I guess time will tell if it's included or not.
