I've got an Z3 compact but the screen is smashed. So I'm thinking to replace the screen myself or get another.
It does, a Global version has appeared in the last few weeks, just like the Redmi 3S, it was low key and just sneaked out, a few other sites also stock the global version with Band 20.
A "Global" version is a different spec, will be advertised as a XX Pro/Prime SE.
These models arent actually meant for Global sales, they are intended for Taiwan, which uses band 20, amongst several others that arent standard in most countries.
I would be very wary of buying a 4a "Global" if you want/need band 20, as the usual use for the tag (at Xiaomi), is for a multi-language OS, and NOT that it has band 20.
The confusion MAY occur, because it DOES have 800Mhz support for 2Gin countries using CDMA (so China then)

9 Jan 17#36
A global version isn't a different spec and only the RN3 Pro SE is advertised with a different name. We've discussed this before in the past but I've seen you continue to say a few times since then that RN3 Pro SE B20 has a different chipset from the non B20 standard Pro which is incorrect. GSMArena RN3 Pro spec sheet. Notice under network specs, there is a set of 4G bands that say 'Special Edition' afterwards. Everything else spec-wise is the same. The chipset changed from the original RN3 MTK (non Pro) Hennessy but Pro 'Kenzo' and Pro 'Kate' are the same specs with SD650 chipset.
The Redmi 3S Prime has a B20 version and a non B20 version. Both are the same specs, and there is no naming differentiation unlike for the RN3. GSMArena Redmi 3S Prime spec sheet. Again look at the 4G LTE section, which has a set bands for "Global" which includes B20 but everything else is the same spec-wise. It's true that sometimes sellers will title Xiaomi phones as "Global" version and be referring to a Global ROM only. However the Redmi 4A in this listing and on Geekbuying and Honorbuy, state B20 in the 4G specs. Similar to the Redmi 3S with B20, it isn't advertised with a different name nor does it have different specs.

You misread, or misunderstood what I wrote.
I used quotation marks around the word "Global", because that is how the OP is writing the description.
I reiterate, when the word "Global" is put in a description for a Xiaomi phone, it means it has a multi-language OS (and Google Play Store), and not Chinese language only.
It DOES NOT mean it has band 20.
You have to be very careful to read the full description of anything you buy on a Chinese website, many, many, MANY times the headline title and description are completely different from what you will get through the post; Chinese sellers just add loads of key words they think will attract buyers.
Trying to buy silk clothing for my daughter, when she was suffering allergic reactions to everything else highlighted this for me, again and again, what was described as silk in the headline would be mentioned in the small print as cotton or "Tribute Silk" (polyester).
This is true of AE and even bulk trade suppliers, trying to track down a bulk supply of silk cloth last year was very frustrating, as the true material would be randomly hidden away in 3-4 PAGES of description. I went through 50 bulk suppliers and only found ONE who didnt eventually describe their "silk" product as polyester.
BTW, the modem is part of the chipset, so (as a computer nerd of many years), the chipset is different - as chipset means a collection of chips, the modem being a single one of them.
Although the modem is only a fairly small part of the chipset, I feel it is important to point this out, as someone buying the phone - then trying to replace the official ROM with one of the many customised ROMS needs to know that the ROMS have to match the chipset, and putting a 4a ROM on a 4a SE phone will brick it, or at the very least, stop all 4G services.
Now we have cleared that up, will you stop "Having a cow" ??
You're saying that your main point was "Global" only means "Global" ROM when your first line stated "A "Global" version is a different spec, will be advertised as a XX Pro/Prime SE."? I even agreed when you suggested that "Global" can be used to refer to the ROM and not B20, by saying: I was mainly addressing your initial line by saying RN3 Pro SE despite having a different name doesn't have different spec, nor does the Redmi 3S Prime which is the same name/spec with or without B20.
Your initial comment suggested the "usual use" for "Global" is referring to the ROM and not B20 which as I said, can be the case. However you now seem to be saying it definitely means the ROM and not B20? It's dependant on seller and can vary. Take "Xiaomi Online Store" for example. For their "Global Mi Note 2" listing, they make the distinction that Global refers to the LTE bands (incl. B20) and do not say it has a Global ROM or multi-language. Then their "Global version Redmi 4A" has both Global ROM and B20 whereas their "Global version Mi Max" has no B20. So "Global" can refer to different things even for the same seller.
If you want to suggest that when you say different chipset, you meant the modem only, then okay. However, you've stated before that for the SE it isn't just band 20, it's "a whole new cpu and chipset". As for the point about ROMs, there is no "Redmi 4A SE". Likewise, the Redmi 3S B20 is not "SE" and uses the same ROM as the non B20. The RN3 Pro SE is an exception and bricking it is to do with the different kernel compared to the 'Kenzo' and I think is only the case for MIUI. However, you can flash custom 'Kenzo' ROMs onto 'Kate' and then flash the modem.
I was pointing out that your comment isn't necessarily true and using examples to suggest why. Plus as I stated, I even agreed that it can sometimes mean what you're suggesting, so I don't see how you've interpreted it as me "having a cow".
Gentle_Giant
10 Jan 17#41
I seem to recall apologising, and saying I was wrong over the "whole new chipset", but I will say it again if you missed it.
However I WILL repeat, you cannot trust the headline statements in any Chinese adverts; they will add any and every word they think will get a search hit, regardless of accuracy.
There are dozens of ads on AE for Prime/Pro Xiaomi phones that ARE NOT Prime/Pro when you read the specs; and this is probably true for every phone maker listed.
One of the more "clever" cons is to list multiple spec phones under one headline.
So the headline phone spec is only one (not the default,, but usually the last, and the most expensive), option among 4-8 buying options, with little or no warning that the cheaper options are not just lower RAM/ROM version of the same phone.

The topic that had been discussed was whether the phone has B20 or not. The discussion wasn't the meaning of "Global" considering OP never included it in the deal title nor description and the first time "Global" was mentioned was regarding the Frequencycheck site and then afterwards when 2 other seller links were provided to confirm that there is a B20 Global. Despite this your comment stated "Global" would have different spec/model which isn't the case and said to be wary of whether it has B20 or not. You spoke of buying silk and insisted on being careful about headlines when it's the description of 3 sellers that confirmed B20. It's not that people were trying imply "Global" in the AE title automatically meant it must have B20.
We've discussed the whole Pro/Prime thing in the past and I'm not suggesting otherwise considering I've said the exact same thing to you and in other threads. You said to be careful and say the headline spec is only one. Yet you were being pedantic about the word "Global" in the title and quick to conclude it means Global ROM only and not B20, even though the description said B20. Your comment put unnecessary doubt on something that was already cleared up by others. Hence my reply, to try clarify it more by saying why your point about Global having different model/spec isn't the case and that even though Global can sometimes refer to Global ROM only, it can vary in meaning.

I will say it one last time before giving up.
Xiaomi market their phones with two distinct sets of ROMS, "Chinese" and "Global", Global DOES NOT MEAN IT HAS BAND 20.
There is a very small subset of Xiaomi phones with band 20, these are usually marketed as "SE" models, and are based on the Pro/Prime models, rather than the basic spec models; currently, according to the official MI forums, there is NO version of the 4/4a or 4Prime with band 20.
If you want/need band 20 the best Xiaomi phone to get is the Note 3 Prime SE aka Pro SE and Prime/Pro SE; mine gets in excess of 55Mbps on O2 band 20.
dreadzone101
11 Jan 17#48
I still don't get why you're adamant about "Global" meaning/interpretation when nobody was implying Global must mean B20 but rather that the Redmi 4A model with B20 is known as Global. It's like you've only gotten the jist that I disagree but haven't read anything in regards to why some of the statements you continue to reiterate aren't the case. As stated previously "Global" can mean different things. Comment #40: 3 'Xiaomi Online Store' links provided. Each say Global but each different in regards to ROM and LTE bands. The Global Mi Note 2 does not say Global ROM but that it has B20 and other Global LTE bands.
How are they "usually marketed as "SE" models" when only 1 phone carries this naming. Comment #36: "only the RN3 Pro SE is advertised with a different name". "The Redmi 3S Prime has a B20 version and a non B20 version. Both are the same specs, and there is no naming differentiation unlike for the RN3." I also linked the Redmi 3S Prime GSMArena page to indicate the B20 model is called "Global" but it doesn't look like you checked so here's a screenshot.
That article is from when the 3 Redmi 4 models were first revealed. As suggested in comment #32 the Global B20 Redmi 4A appeared in the last few weeks. Comment #46: Comparison of the Redmi 4A Global and Redmi 4A showing B20 for the "Global" model. That is what it is called. If you look in the description of the AE deal link, the back of the box shows it has english text and CE certification. The same CE1317 certification used on the back of the RN3 Pro SE box. The original Redmi 4A release has Chinese text on box and CCC certification.
It has been confirmed by multiple sellers and Frequencycheck that the Redmi 4A has B20 and the version that does is known as Global. Much like the Redmi 3S Prime, the Global B20 isn't considered a different model, unlike the RN3 Pro SE which is an exception. Here is a forum thread of around the time people started to realised there is a Redmi 3S B20 considering it wasn't a separate release. A comparison article from when the Redmi 4 models were revealed doesn't disprove the existence of a Redmi 4A Global B20. If you found articles from after the Redmi 3S was first released, it would say it has no B20. Also prior to the Redmi Note 3 Pro SE, there'd be nothing regarding a RN3 with B20.
This is obviously subjective and was is "best" is dependant on the user. The B20 Xiaomi phones each have their merits and people have different preferences. For example some might prefer a 5.0" phone and have no need for the higher specs.
It's funny that you speak of being careful and having to read the description yet you are adamant that the word "Global" in the title automatically must mean Global ROM only and not B20.

Some one asked the question on the MI forums in December.
Does the 4a have band 20 - the answer from the MI Mods was "No, it does not".
GSMAreana isnt perfect, it does make mistakes, and sometimes fails to correct those mistake; however as a regular member of the MI forums, and a Xiaomi customer for a good number years - Global means the phone will have multi-language and Google apps, not advertised as Global, and it will come in Chinese with no Google.
Xiaomi are very bad at announcing the full specs of new phone, and of refresh versions; there are also regular claims that "X" phone has 4G bands hidden in the settings, all the way back to the original Note (which I also own); these claims, certainly for the original Note - are ****, and no regular member of the forums has ever managed to "activate" the hidden settings (because they dont exist).
Unless you can find at least three established members of HUKD who can confirm they have a 4a, and ditto for a 3s Prime with the Global ROM* and that it has band 20, I will continue to not believe you; you havent produced ANY evidence, just keep contradicting what I have said, and rehashing a mistake I made a hundred threads ago.
I bought the Note 3 Prime SE 2 months ago, because at the time, it was the only phone Xiaomi sold where band 20 was confirmed by Xiaomi themselves, as opposed to GSMArena saying it had it..
* As of September, 3s Prime Band 20 not working in Global ROM according to MI forums, only in Chinese; although there is a working Beta version of the Global ROM - at your own risk.
This may have changed, but life is too short for me to search any further through the chaotic Mi Forums, most of the 3s band 20 claims are in the German section.

Yes, they aren't perfect considering they aren't currently aware Redmi 4A has a Global version. However do you think that multiple sellers just all happen to be wrong along with a Frequencycheck site? Where do you think sellers obtain their products? Even if they obtained it from other sellers, it comes from Xiaomi themselves at the start. Do you really think MIUI MODs are any more informed and connected to Xiaomi than sellers who source their products from official MI stores? This is what it shows on the homepage of the store for this deal:
Just search for "Redmi Note 3 Global" and see how many of the results aren't the Special Edition 'Kate'. See if you can find any that are just 'Kenzo' that has Global ROM with multi-language and Google apps. If you search "Original Xiaomi" you'll also find multiple phones on AE that are advertised as multi-language with Play Store but do not say "Global" anywhere. And also listings which specifically say Global ROM and not Global Edition/Version. Regardless of having said Global can vary in meaning, you still continue to believe Global = Global ROM only
So the description of 3 well known and well established stores that sell Xiaomi products are going to be ignored but you'd accept the word of 3 established site members? Whether or not you believe me doesn't change the fact they exist. I get that you may be hesistant to believe Redmi 4A B20 since it's new info but you also are choosing to ignore the Redmi 3S Prime B20, which has been out for months? Here is a MOD confirmed MIUI thread, since you appear to believe the word of MOD is the absolute 'be all end all' when it comes to Xiaomi information even though you yourself said "Xiaomi are very bad at announcing the full specs of new phone, and of refresh versions". If you read the MOD's comment #4 and #10, the wording implies that even they aren't full aware when new developments happen. Do you think that MODs are all knowing when it comes to Xiaomi related stuff? When a new phone comes out, users ask repeatedly "when is the Global ROM for X phone being released". They are told to just wait because the MODs would find out when the rest of us do.
Well if that isn't selective reading then I don't know what is. If you want to ignore the points made and disregard them as "evidence" then so be it. However, your views on the meaning of Global and mentioning what a MOD said on one thread that you read is sufficient evidence to prove otherwise? Your first statement was that a Global version would have different spec/name. I mentioned how you previously thought Redmi Note 3 SE was an entirely new phone so reasoned it to be why you'd make that claim, hence pointed out it's not the case.
Even if you want to continue to ignore the existence of the Redmi 3S Prime B20, this still wouldn't be true. The Mi Note 2 launched late October and has B20. Official MI.com page for Mi Note 2 "The global edition offers global LTE bands that has over 6 types and 37 bands." (incl. B20). You'll probably find an MIUI MOD posts confirming it too incase you want to believe the word of an MIUI MOD holds more weight than the official MI site.
You're saying life is too short and that MI forums are chaotic, yet your opening line suggests 1 thread found regarding a MOD saying Redmi 4A has no B20 is sufficient proof but not multiple sellers stating otherwise. And if MI forums are chaotic like you said, it could take a while for a Redmi 4A B20 to be known. But I guess "life is too short for [you] to search any further" and one thread that supports your view is enough.
