I am impatient, so seeing as I was not offered a deal straight away I got on to Microsoft Chat in an attempt to blag my way to a deal. I was unsuccessful but did learn that it is apparently completely random whether you will be offered it or not (see image).
My theory is though that this random selection changes daily, which may explain why some are offered straight away and others days or weeks later. If this was actually true then you could hold out and would eventually be offered, but to hell with that, I need my Gold account right now!

I have posted 2 comments above on where the discounted price might be. if the price is not in either of those places then maybe you won't be getting it. it does seem to be a lucky dip on who gets the deal though, as some have been offered different things and some not being offered anything at all

My gold expired on the 25th, I saw this and thought I would hold out a few days and see what I might get. Mine has been 39.99 right up until Ten minutes ago, if yours doesn't say 23.99 yet then keep checking and hold out as long as possible, you never know.

I just randomly went to "Gold" tile on the right of my dashboard to make sure I've downloaded all of this month's games, then noticed there was an option at the top to extend with a drop-down of price options.... 12 months for £23.99! I wasn't due to expire until December 2018 either. Go figure!

it isn't a direct link. if you get the offer it will come up on your dashboard. or you could have a look in the membership bit on xbox live (where you can extend your subscription, this is also where my price came up) and see if it gives you a discounted price there

This is so typical of Microsoft, just like the majority of their offers it's a farce for most of us. If they are going to make an offer like this it should be for everyone not just expired or new customers. They do so much very well and then they let themselves down badly with this sort of thing along with the prices they charge for games on Xbox live store. They have no idea that all they are doing is screwing themselves as well as us. Morons!!!
