Bought one a few years ago, probably used it about 4 times since for simple DIY stuff, worth having at that price even if it is not used very regularly

What are these used for? Do I need one?

If you need to measure parts to 0.1mm accuracy, they are useful. If not, you do not need one.
Mine was last used for some plumbing, since plastic overflow piping can be had in 21.5 & 22mm diameters. Knowing which I have helps to identify the correct fittings.

I couldnt watch the full video, was putting me to sleep but loomed like the Mitutoyo was reading consistantly bang on.
The cheap caliper was consistantly plus a thou so 0.025mm.
Even mitutoyo have an accuracy on 150mm digital calipers of 1 thou or 0.02mm.
I wouldnt be using them if I was working to such a tight tolerance and who would.
Expecting a digital caliper of any sort with absolutely no error is a big ask.
For £7.99 they are actually pretty accurate although they dont normally stay that way as long as a mitutoyo or starret.

I think you're missing the point - it's that awful phrase which is misleading. I'm happy to believe your experience re accuracy.

Pretty odd response given that my statement was a qualification of the fact that I wasn't making a judgement. I have one of these myself and I am happy with it but if you work in a field which requires strict tolerance, you will need to pay more. Watch the (pretty badly made) video and you will see that all the 'professional' callipers are bang on whilst the cheaper one struggles even to be as accurate to 1/1000th inch.

I'm not making a judgement - you get what you pay for - but YouTube threw this video into my recommendations a couple of days ago. It's not exactly riveting but it shows how much more accurate more expensive callipers are.
That said, I have cheap callipers because I only need them for low tolerance purposes. Also, mine turn themselves on when they move about in the case so I often found the battery was flat and I recently had to dismantle them to repair the pretty flimsy battery connector.
Oh no, that very misleading phrase again! Why look on a 'deals' site if it means everything is poor?

ordered, thanks op.
the drill bit set they are selling on same day looks a decent buy for anyone wanting a reasonable, cheap, comprehensive range of bits.

These are actually not bad.
Bought one for the house last time. When new read within 0.05mm of my calibrated Mitutoyo which I paid 20x more for.
Not found any use for it at home yet but handy to have all the same.
