If you want a cheap one check out the titan ones screwfix do. They aren't just good for cheap ones, they hold their own against the big boys. Seen a lot of them being used on site, the titan put my Bosch pro sds to shame.

Bought this at this price over Christmas, really good drill, especially for the money. Comes with drill bits. From reading up, plenty of people say the necessity of greasing is over emphasised - and it's been greased already so will last a good while for occasional or moderate DIYers. Has option for hammer drill, driver and breaker. It's pretty heavy, but to my mind not unduly so for a drill this type, but it's a huge improvement on trying to use hammer function on combi drill. Keep an eye out in bargain bins at B&Q etc for extra SDS bits, although the four it comes with may be all you ever need.

sds drills even cheap ones are decent. got mine from argos on the cheap. my grandad used it to smash loads of bricks out of his patio. i used it to destroy cement from old fence posts etc
i prefer a normal drill for normal work if it manages it as the sds manages to eat everything

Are you saying this case is not blow-molded?

for what it's worth I think waiting for the lidl or aldi one is best. You get a blow moulded case, Jacobs Chuck and variable speed for the same money.
good deal if you need one now though!

Any idea when their DIY deals start.
I think their (Lidl) products come with a 3 year guarantee

Top of the drill there is a port that unscrews. You get a key to open it in the box

Do SDS drills take special drill bits?
Or will normal bits fit Ok.

Normal bits don't fit. But you can buy an adaptor in which normal bits fit and fit adaptor in sds drill. Adaptor costs £7+ depending on make and quality.
Otherwise you'll have to upgrade all your drill bits to sds type drill bits.

For forty quid well worth it. I bought one from Argos some years ago for similar money and as long as you keep it greased it will work well and last. I dug a trench for a water main in the back yard and then broke a stone fire place up. Drilled many holes and fitted sat dishes (30-40 mm Over a foot in old money) though house walls like butter.
Granted the big name boys are better, but no one will knick a cheapy (hopefully).
Years Guaranteed: 2 no brainer for the occasional user or DIY'er.
