The reason I went with the new Nokians (WR4?) for my wife's car - rated A in the wet in some sizes and B for all other sizes. Gramted we haven't really had any snow to really test them but it's been wet and below 7c quite a lot and I don't worry when she's out in those conditions anymore (she's not the best driver in the Summer let alone the Winter lol).

Amazon are getting more underhand by the day.
I ordered something that was oos at a good price as I was happy to wait. They sent me an email cancelling it stating it was discontinued even though it was still there to buy. customer service said it was removed from the site (I sent them a link) they then said fair enough but not from Amazon as seller (sent them a link) they then said 'your right order it again' I said for 50 quid more I'm not. Then came the best excuse I have ever heard. 'The one you ordered was discontinued and not available anymore but we got more from another supplier where it's not discontinued and is available' Genius.
Just a warning that Amazon customer service is not what it once was!

...and as for winter tyres. I've been a car owner for 24 years now. my earliest cars having no power steering or ABS. in those 24 years I've had zero crashes, zero near misses (due to my fault) and died zero times. When the weather gets bad, adjust your driving style and save yourself some money.

That's perfectly fine over here where we have little snow and I agree about adjusting to suit the conditions but I think those who live further in the north will disagree. I would have agreed with you 100% but early part of last year I travelled to Austria and in Germany and Austria in the winter season, winter tyres are mandatory. You can get away with summer tyres providing you carry snow chains with you but my car won't accept snow chains so a set of winter tyres were purchased. I run a Mazda 6 diesel and even with that big heavy lump of an engine over the front wheels the car is absolute **** in the snow on normal tyres. However, stick a set of winters on and the car is transformed in the snow. I couldn't believe the grip. When you're up in the mountains and it's snowing it's nice to know you can keep moving. If we had more snow over here they would be more popular. Where I live it's flat. We may get a couple of inches of snow a year and haven't bothered putting the winter tyres on as there seems no point just going to work and back but if it gets bad then they will be on the car.

We run these, epic tyres! They find traction where we would usually struggle, work equally as well on wet grass as well! Great price. A lot of Land Rover owners run them all year round.

Would these be better in the summer than the cheapest normal tyres that I have?

No 100% absolutely no.
Winter tyres only bring any benefit at 7 oC or below. Some are absolutely woeful in the wet as well.

Wet grip E, No thanks.

I think that because they test the wet grip in the summer. So my tyre fitter says anyway. If they did the tests on a like for like basis, you may find your summer tyres wet grip when it's four or five degrees a grade E when in the summer it will be grade A. It's only a guide anyway and I used to buy only grade A wet grip. I'm running Avons at present grade A wet and they are crap in the wet compared to previously fitted Goodyear be Dunlop. They wheel spin all the time so not sure what car they got their rating on but it can't have been a torquey diesel.

I bought some Nokians about 3 winters ago. Although I'm disappointed we have had no significant snow since, winter tyres have been really grippy in the cold, frost and perform so much better at anything below about 8 degrees.

Great value since we have had plenty of days where the temperature has been below 7 to warrant the need for them.
Just hit the expire button or report it to be expired.

Wow, HUKD top-post:
"Excellent price on this out of stock item"
Okay - but if this item was actually in stock, any guarantee it would still be this price? No. Any indication of when stock might arrive? Is this actually a deal at all - when really, we could all go and find something hidden away on a website that is an "excellent price" yet there is no stock of.
And yet again people blindly hit the "hot" button - Top deal there bud! I won't order me any of those OOS items, but here, have an up-vote.

This one doesn't bother me too much. You're right though, it's not really a deal if nobody can get it right now.
HUKD used to be about proper bargains, glitches etc. Now you get people posting stuff at RRP as a bargain which gets voted hot.
Opening post
Also the Vredestein - Wintrac Xtreme - 255/35R19 96W are £53

It's flooded with useless deals that are voted hot like this one http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/aldi-2-1-air-fryer-29-99-instore-online-2589985 which makes it difficult to see where the proper deals are. Thankfully there's still that odd one or two deals a week which are proper deals.
Cold for a pointless post.
