I was looking at this and a quick Google took me to What Car leasing. This had a link to Stoneacre Leasing. I just signed up for 1 x £1,287.96 + 35 x 214.66, including metallic paint. Adding metallic to the OP deal here would give a total cost of £10,558. My total cost is £8,801. This is £1,756 cheaper. Do I get a medal or anything?

I believe you are not tied to a Volvo dealer if you opt to pay for your own servicing. If you choose a Maintanence Plan then you are likely to have to use a Volvo dealership.

If you want one of these leasing is definitely the best option. There is a new model on the way plus it's a diesel.

Diesel cars are pretty much finished in terms of domestic vehicles, they are terrible pollution wise in cities, badly tarnished by the Vw emissions scandal and many large cities are talking of banning them from their centres altogether. Even the Germans realise the direction of travel and are investing heavily in battery tech for the medium to long term.

The Road tax rates are also being slated to punish diesel owners moving forward. Small petrol engines with big turbos are the way forward in the short to medium term, I just traded my diesel I won't be buying another one.

Thanks OP, heat added.

I'm coming to the end of a v40 lease in April and was wanting an XC60 but realistically couldn't afford it. Don't mind if there is going to be a new model at end of the year as still would be happy driving this.

Been on the phone to the company today and just waiting confirmation.

Good spot.
aing69
11 Jan 17 #61
Hmm, the XC60 comes in at £291 on 15k pa (solid paint), vs the CR V (with met) at £275. If I add another £14 for met paint that takes it to £305, so £30 pm extra. Not a huge amount extra overall considering what I get :disappointed:

I think I am still within my 14 day cooling off period, but the XC60 wont be available until march which is probably too late for when I need it :disappointed:

Depends how you define 'decent car', certainly won't get one of these new for £10k
deeky
11 Jan 17 #59
Why? Front sensors aren't to help you drive, they are to help you park.
hcc27
11 Jan 17 #58
What a shame, this is a class above the CRV in every way. Guess you can't cancel?? I have this exact same car - same terms but paying 12.5K as I got it 2 months back - and it is the best 'small' SUV I've driven (I test drove everything before making my decision - the CRV, Qashqai, Kadjar, X3 and Q5).
hcc27
11 Jan 17 1 #57
Err if you need front sensors to drive, perhaps you should question the validity of your licence?
hcc27
11 Jan 17 #56
Wow this is a scorcher! Got the exact same car 2 months ago on lease (66 plate) and the cheapest I could find was a tad over 12K over 3 years on a 10K annual mileage. I love it even at that price. Paid a little extra for the Harmon Kardon 12 speaker stereo and I've never been in a better cockpit over the past 20 years of driving.
The leather seats are incredibly comfortable, cabin noise is minimal even at speed, it absorbs bumps effortlessly, corners tightly and the D4 engine pulls like a train - really good torque across the 1000-3000 rpm range. I personally found it to be a better drive than the Q5 and the X3.
On the negative side, the centre console screen is not touch enabled so entering a post code for instance takes a while; diesel consumption is in the mid 40's and options are pricey.

You really can't go wrong at this price.

what happens after 36 months? - You hand the car back and start again
what does monthly maintenance means? - things like servicing, new tyres etc. are included in the cost

I see leasing as effectively renting the car, same as a house. You pay monthly rent for the usage but never actually own the item. Only difference from a house is you get the deposit back when you stop renting a house (provided you haven't trashed it!!), whereas for car leasing the deposit is an upfront, non-refundable payment, and if there is 'damage' you have to pay for this as well.

You give the car back at the end of the lease.

Monthly maintenance means you pay a monthly payment that covers all services and replacement tyres and any other routine maintenance costs that might happen within your lease.

11 Jan 17 #52
Fair comment, not a lot of peeps have a casual £10k laying around, so that means getting a personal loan or crappy car finance deal so all of a sudden that £10k car has cost you £11k +, the £10k car will more than likely be out of warranty unless it's a used supermini your after, that means unprintable bills. Etc etc
balthiwan
11 Jan 17 #51
You give the car back to the lease company, paying for any damage as defined under the BVRLA guidelines.

Maintenance typically covers servicing - can include tyres sometimes.

So where exactly can I get this car or an equivalent new decent car for 10k? The only ones I can find are super mini's like the Aygo/Citigo/Up/Ka/Rio.

If you want a car of this size and spec (whatever the reasons for wanting it may be), then your options are to buy new and take the depreciation hit. Or else, go for a lease deal and take a much smaller hit after 3 years. After spending years taking the former route, I have now realised the folly of my ways and choose to lease. If and when I get my final dream car, I may choose to buy it instead; as I will then be keeping it for a long time.

I got park assist for myself when it first came out looked like a great gimmick. I only used it a handful of times. It only added only £5 p/m to my lease cost.
My advice go to the Volvo website and see what extras you can get / want and ask for a quote.

I had a test drive with this car and all good except on motorway where it becomes very noisy. Some suggest double glazing would partially solve the problem. I personally think it's poor design.

11 Jan 17 #32
Do explain. All I see is almost 10k on a manual car which is going to look old in 2 months when xc60 is updated to look like xc90 and the price will be lower from dealers looking to register all old models.

E.g bmw in December 2016 were giving away 40k listed price cars at 299 a month and no deposit on 5 series with the new model due in Feb.
Ross87
11 Jan 17 #31
Yeah I find it incredibly disappointing (but I do understand the need for flappy paddles in f1 cars / high performance vehicles). I may just be rather 'old school' and set in my ways, but it doesn't feel like driving if you're not thinking about gear changes and manually changing the gear.

I've tried flappy paddle's / automatics and it took away a massive part of the enjoyment for me.

I'm just one of these old gits complaining about the youth of today becoming lazy and reinventing the wheel to satisfy their laziness.

My parents would've loved this if they hadn't just bought a xc40 cross country. Shame
cecilmcroberts
10 Jan 17 1 #29
I always would have said the same myself until recently. Take a look at the market in most high performance cars and you will find they all automatic since you couldn't change gear quick enough for what they can do these days. Take it a step further and look at most super or hyper cars which again all mostly autos.
Voted hot also btw

10 Jan 17 1 #28
According to the specs this is the 2WD not the 4WD (AWD) version. It is misleading the way they continually refer to it as 4x4 when it is the front wheel drive version. I have a D5 AWD one of this and it's a good motor though I hate having an electronic oil level gauge hidden away in the display and no dipstick!
nomeames
10 Jan 17 #27
If you don't want to customise even then you can specify the colour? How would I know what are the default specs? For example there is a tab on the deal page "equipments and Options" but only lists standard features. In terms of customisation, I assume its only the internal and external colour only and nothing else?
nomeames
10 Jan 17 #24
Is there an option to customise (exterior paint, interior etc)?
aing69 to nomeames
10 Jan 17 #26
Yes, but you'll need to submit a request - it doesn't calculate automatically.

alera
10 Jan 17 2 #23
Some of the lease deals are not bad, it's an expensive car to buy with commensurate depreciation after the financial crash with low interest rates the whole new car business has moved towards leasing. They are clever with it and work on pretty tight margins. Over 3 years the depreciation on this from new would probably be around 3k a year.

I personally don't like leasing but understand why people go for them. I would rather buy something at a year old in January with with very low miles less than 10k balance of manufacturers warranty and keep for a couple of years then go again it's almost always cheaper than leasing unless it's a very expensive desirable car in limited supply.
