Came to the end of my current Vodafone deal which I got from here - 20gb, unltd mins & texts on red plan for £20 a month with free Netflix

Went abroad a lot for £3 a day and was happy with it tbh!

Went on web chat to cancel today and they offered me the above deal after I asked them to beat the virgin one which is on here scorching at £15 a month, 2GB less, no entertainment package and no data abroad (have to pay a stupid amount). So it's £3.50 more expensive a month but I'll get free Spotify (saves me a fiver a month) and free data roaming abroad. So in the long run I'm going to save loads!

Thought might be of help to some! It was described as the 'Webchat deal of the day' so open to all I guess?

Enjoy!

How is this a deal? It's an individual price for u! It's like going to market and getting 50% off something because you haggled. Can I start posting deals when I manage to get my bananas buy one get free?!? Well done for getting this price but it's not a deal for HUKD as surely the point of this site is to find deals that most can benefit from. Cancellation deals are always individual

I spent over £100 on roaming costs last year.

Thomas C: ok and how long is the contract?
Samuel:
It is a 12 month plan with the option to upgrade at any time by coming through to web chat to this department. Great flexibility for you

Thomas C: cool, I'll go for it then, cheers!
Samuel:
Excellent to hear! I will just draw up the terms for you now Thomas

Thomas C: cheers
Samuel:
You are most welcome, here are the terms:

Samuel:
The bundle you have chosen gives you Unlimited minutes, Unlimited texts and 22GB of data. The standard monthly cost of this is £37, which will show on your My Vodafone account online.
● With your discount of 50% you will pay £18.50 This discount runs for 12 months.
● Your bundle has inclusive roaming. This inclusive roaming allowance includes 4GB of data, unlimited minutes, texts and multimedia messages to UK numbers (starting with 01, 02, 03 or 07), as well as mobile numbers and landlines within our Europe Zones 1 & 2. Your data allowance also has a cap when you're travelling in our Europe zones to help you manage your usage. We'll text you when you're getting close to your cap and you have the option of increasing your allowance or purchasing one-time recurring data extras. You can get more info on European roaming at vodafone.co.uk/goingabroadinfo.
● Your bundle is 4G ready, which means you can take advantage of the speeds it can deliver dependent on coverage and network demand (which may vary).
● As part of your Red Value bundle, you may choose to take up Spotify Premium, Sky Sports Mobile TV or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass. This will remain on your Red Value Bundle for the length of the offer at no extra charge.
● After the initial period of the offer you will be charged monthly either to your Vodafone bill or direct from the offer provider, you can cancel this after the offer period by going to offers.vodafone.com/gb/cancel or in the case of NOW TV you need to go to nowtv.co.uk/account.
Your invoice will show your old bundle ending today and your new one starting from midnight tonight.

● This agreement is for a minimum period of 12 months, plus any remaining term left on your existing contract. You will receive your first monthly invoice within 2 days of your delivery date. This will also tell you your payment date. Direct Debit payments will be taken by 'Vodafone Limited'. Each April, your bundle price will increase by an amount equal to the RPI rate published in March of that year. We will publish this rate on our website. Full details are available in the Vodafone Airtime terms and conditions. Occasionally, we have to put up our charges outside of your monthly bundle charge or change our services during your contract. We'll tell you before we do this and you can read more about this in our Airtime Terms and Conditions online.

● You have the right to change your mind and cancel your contract during the next 30 days. You can do this by calling us on 191. If you do cancel your contract, you must return the handset to us using the pre-paid envelope that we will send out. You're buying from Vodafone Limited of the Connection, Newbury. You can cancel at any time by giving 30 days notice to Vodafone. However, if you cancel before the minimum period, you will still need to pay the remaining contract monthly costs.
You will also e able to upgrade this plan anytime you like as it is a Flexi Sim.
Do you agree to the terms?

Thomas C: great just to confirm the roaming is that 4GB per month? or total for the 12 months
Samuel:
That's 4GB per month.

How did you manage that? My 20GB deal is also expiring now, admittedly I've not used the 20GB much but £20 with the 12 month Netflix was a cracking deal so if I could get the same again I'd be happy, my experience with Vodafone retentions is not good though.

I have a reliable source that advises me you should check your contract/go instore to make sure you have the 50% discount, rather than just 6 months half price, which is a promotion open to all new and existing customers. The deal is the 20gb for £37 which includes all the content/roaming you have stated and the 2gb extra is something they can add on for free from their end but they advise me that Vodafone no longer offer 50% even through retentions. If you do indeed have a 50% discount it will show on the contract itself. Just a caution. Edit: also you can only upgrade after 3 months and that's only to a 24 month phone plan, as there's no such thing as flexi sim...maybe the guy who said he works for retentions can verify this...
ZeroEx to Bhav007
12 Jan 17 1 #40
Although the 3 months thing is the 'official' way if you're on sim only and want to upgrade to another sim or phone just ask to speak to the upgrades team on webchat. They will get it done for you. We have targets

Also. I can confirm they removed the 50% option from our system to select. 40% is the highest manual discount we can apply.

(But. Just because we can select up to 40% doesn't mean we are allowed to on certain phones/plans. So don't push too hard if an agent says they really can't do a certain price. At the end of the day they need sales but also want to keep their job!)

Avoid Vodafone at all costs.

If you go to Vodafone and get a discount you should check your DD amount every month to ensure its correct. I signed up for the £24 contact discounted down from £40 and took several months + numerous calls and emails to get it sorted. Luckily I had the store write the discount on the contract and I had to email it to Vodafone to get the discount despite advertising it on their website for several months. Also for some bizarre reason I was given a business account so I can't check my data allowance on MyVodafone and they can't change me over.

I'm going to change at the earliest possible opportunity and happy to pay more if need be purely for my own sanity if nothing else.

The 'free roaming' isn't actually worth that much to most people as currently it's only 4p per Mb/1p per minute to receive calls in Euroland but from June this year it's included in your UK minutes. Roaming will presumably still cost a fortune outside the EU with this deal.

I normally like to think I can get pretty good upgrades but could not get the 22GB deal. After a brief chat they offered 40% off a £27 a month contract taking it to £16.20 a month, this included:

- Unlimited Minutes
- Unlimited Texts
- 10GB Data (2GB roaming)
- Unlimited calls and texts in 40 countries
- Now TV / Sky Sports / Spotify

I think that's it, I am pretty happy as it should stop me going over my monthly contract somewhere/somehow, as I always seem to no matter how hard I try!

For the past two years with Vodafone I have had the following deal... 22GB Data / Unltd calls & txts for £20 per month on a 12months sim only... I was amazed when I was originally offered it... when I renewed last year I had difficulty getting them to honour same terms.. 3 calls over a month or two or even three month period.. calling on the final day of the contract to cancel finally got them to agree.. every month my bill shows 50% reduction (entire 12 months) 2GB extra data free - taking it from 20GB to 22GB (not roaming although I get the 2GB roaming also) - - my contract is up for 'upgrade' 21st of this month and I am curious to see how I get on this year attempting to get the same again or better hopefully... but upgrade runs from the 21st January to April sometime during which I expect to have to make a few attempts just as I did last year... my advice is not to accept what they offer first time around.. they are probably trained to offer progressively better deals up to their limit and would not be good salespeople if they gave you the best deal on your first asking...
JumpMan1980
12 Jan 17 #38
in addition if you want a lot of data, take a-look at their mifi boxes -- i currently have one from vodafone with 50GB of data for £25 a month on a 30 day contract (£5 a month discount to current price I believe) - had to pay £35 upfront also (for 30day contract)... I hadn't even heard of these things two years ago when i was looking for a large data contract .... it's brilliant!

12 Jan 17 1 #44
okay so if you call 191 and demand to be put through to retentions then you will get this deal... I managed to get the deal in the OP but in a slightly different way - please note that I got mine through renewal (I am currently with Vodafone and contract was set to expire in 45 days). He offered it to me for £22.20 plus 1 month free and I said "can you do any better because that still works out at more than what I am currently paying?" He said "I can give you 2 months free" and that works out at £18.50 a month (£22.20 * 12 = £266.40 - £44.40 = 222 / 12 = £18.50) I used the live chat after asking if there are any better deals than what's currently on the website. AND telling him the best current deals (go to the Three website and search the Virgin 1 month deal currently on HUKD and mention those to the live chat to see if they can beat it).

Hope this made sense! :S

Basically, I got what this guy got!

My goodness, it's like the Moroccan bazaar or souk! Do we really have to haggle so much for good deals? I know fellow HUKDers will jump through hoops (hey, I do a fair number of cashbacks by redemption myself!) but sometimes to me it feels lime a right royal pain.

I don't believe you can get the retentions department on Webchat, as far as I'm aware you still need to try and get through to Retentions on the phone or cancel your contract and wait for them to contact you.

I have the 20GB deal as well and I'm dreading having to go through Vodafone retentions to try and just get the same or similar deal again, it was great last year just being able to order it off the site with no hassle.

So while i was on chat i asked if the uograde deal was correct wastold yes 22gb data for £22.20 a month no mention of the free 2 month so luckily i copied and pasted the live chat the deal i was offered and was told this would now be added to account so have to wait and see. Don't call up cancellations/retention's no one can offer extra discounts over the phone. I was told only live chat. I managed to agree a deal on live chat for £22.20 20gb unlim mins& txt 4GB roam and entertainment 12mths. But be warned email yourself a copy of the chat transcript. I have had nothing but a nightmare with billing. 3months free wasn't added to the bill took me 2.5hrs calling talking to more than one idiot. Thought I finally got it sorted the. Received a call 10mins later from billing to tell me they are unable to honour my offer and reversed the agreed upgrade. 2 days later I got the energy to tackle the issue on live chat to be promise again the same deal but this time they would credit the account with a cash sum. The cash sum has happened but they have now screwed up my contract dates. Apparently Vodafone has contracted me until June 2019 despite numerous calls and live chats I can't find the right person to resolve! Every year I get this issue with Vodafone you have to watch your bills and get everything confirmed in writing. Vodafone Customer service is still exceptionally BAD! Reason I persist I have limited choice for phone reception otherwise I would be switching network even if it cost more!
