Forgot about this, nearly got it a little while ago. Gone for it at 89p, reviews look promising too, doesn't seem like any issues on later Windows. WIN. I used to love these type of games! Pewpewpewpew.
Game description
What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fuelled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.
Story / Background
In the distant future, the galaxy is ruled by a central body of humans and artificial intelligences called the Core (a contraction of "Consciousness Repository"). The Core's technological and economic triumphs have allowed humanity to colonize most of the Milky Way and enjoy peace and prosperity. However, the balance is broken by a technological breakthrough that allows the consciousness of a human being to be reliably transferred into a machine, thereby theoretically granting infinite life, in a process called "patterning." Following a mandate imposed on humanity by the Core requiring everyone to undergo patterning as a public health measure, a rebel band is formed out of colonies from the edges of the galaxy (hence their name, the Arm), whose members refused to leave their natural bodies to join the Core's machines. A war lasting 4,000 years followed, with the Arm mass-producing clones as pilots for its vehicles and the Core duplicating consciousness-embedded microchips to pilot its own machines.

I will always upvote this game.
And at this price I urge you to give this game a go if you enjoy real time strategy.
You probably know this already but in case you didn't know it, if you put the game disc into a CD player, it recognises it as an audio format CD and you can enjoy the whole Total Annihiliation sountrack!

Total Annihilation : Kingdoms was my favourite of the series
Love the ranking system were your units change physically as they make more kills. More rts games need that feature .

My all time favourite game. Friends and I used to have LAN games of this lasting over 20 hours. Has anyone managed to get it working with multiplayer recently? Can't get LAN to work anymore.. Check out a website called tauniverse (or something) for mods and unit downloads.

One of my all time favourite games. Absolute must for any RTS fan. It was this over C&C for gameplay, and definitely on par with it for story other than the lack of cinematics.
If you havent played it before, this is a no brainer.
Does this definitely work on Windows 10 without any fiddly compatibility setting meddling?

If you like this, you might want to check out Planetary Annihilation. The spiritual successor (many of the same people).
Personally, I prefer TA. PA is closer to the e-sports/StarCraft style, like SupCom was. Hotkey mashing and frantic buildup to an epic event, usually involving a super unit (Experimental or WMD), which most likely ends the game (usually in under 30 mins). Low tech level units don't seem to have much effect.
So if you loved the Krogoths, Vulcans, and nukes from TA, you'll probably like PA too.
