Since I've seen someone posting a retention deal on EE I thought I'd do the same for Three.

So I called them today to ask for my PAC code and after talking a few minutes here's what they gave me:

12GB

600 min

Unlimited texts

Feel at home Europe (free roaming)

£11

Monthly rolling contract.

Hope it can help people.

EDIT: A lot of people seem to struggle to get a good deal.
First of all being with a provider for several years helps a lot
Then you need to call them every let's say 10-12 months to "upgrade" your contract
- Threaten to leave
- Ask for you PAC code
- Mention other offers you've seen on internet
- Tell them it's a shame that you leave because you like their services blablabla

I went from a 24 months contract paying £36, to a monthly rolling 4GB @ £15 to 8Gb @ £13 to finally 12GB @ £11.

Hope it helps

How many people have actually got this deal to be constantly voting hot?

I rang this morning trying to change my unlimited mins and texts plus 4gg data advanced plan to this and said someone was havin a laugh!

Best I got was £12 because I already had £8 discount on my account rolling contract.

OK, I'll try again.

From June 2017 all network operators will be forced to follow the EU's "Roam Like At Home".
It's like Three's "Feel At Home" except:
- It covers ALL EU conuntries (Three's offer currently excludes some EU countries).
- It will only apply within the EU (Three's offer currently covers some non-EU countries.|

So next summer if you're travelling within the EU it won't matter which network you're on.
But if you're travelling beyond the EU (e.g. to the USA or Australia) it'll be better to be on Three.
mtuk1
15 Jan 17 #71
It's not obligatory to post a deal. And you're the second person to say I was critiquing someone's spelling. I wasn't. Asking if text is now the plural of text is not spelling, it's grammar.
mtuk1
15 Jan 17 #70
All network operators in the EU will not be forced to follow Feel at Home. Feel at home also operates outside the EU. Nobody is being forced to do that.

Maybe post a deal rather than criticise someone's spelling ?
Post more than one and you have posted deals :smirk:

I was struggling to get a deal with Three over the phone. I have been with them for a 6 years now on monthly rolling £14. I think the deals they offer are more generous when you switch from a 24month £30+ contract to a sim only which is what the OP experienced (because he was paying considerably more over the last 24 months he got a bigger discount). However their 8GB, 600 mins plan + FeelAtHome currently discounted at £13 is still cracking and here is the big tip: If you go to a three store and upgrade to this deal they will add 2000 3-3 minutes to your plan. Overall this means your 600 mins last longer. The Three phone staff told me to go to a Three store because they said they no longer have access to add 3-3 minutes for existing customers. HTH

Hi sorry if being thick. Is the three £13 deal for a
new sim contract or an upgrade? Not v clear on their website. Thanks in advance.

My current sim only contract with EE is coming to the end in early March. It was a cashback deal from mobilephonedirect that offers unlimited mins and 8gb data for about 8.50 quid after all cashback payments.

I quite like the Jan deal from Three, 600 mins+8gb+feel at home for 9 quid per month after 50 quid cashback. Guess I'll ask whether EE could match the deal or I'd leave for Three.

I had two Three contracts come up for renewal last month (2GB / 200 mins @ £11pm) and asked them to match Plusnet 4GB / 1500 mins @ £10pm and they couldn't even come close so I (eventually) managed to get my PACs and moved - much better 4G reception in NW London with Plusnet compared with Three.
aandyr123
15 Jan 17 1 #65
Good deal OP.

I phoned vodafone at the end of my contract and negotiated a sim only deal too.

£8.50pm unlimited texts/calls and 4GB data.

Good enough for me as I don't use too much data. Gone are the days of me upgrading to the latest phone for close to £40pm. There's not much my trusty s5 can't do that a new phone can do. In fact, I recently factory reset it and bought a new battery. It's as good as gold
ArthurDent1
15 Jan 17 #64
Feel At Home is Three's policy - as on June 2017 all operators within the EU will be forced to follow suit.
Feel At Home currently only covers countries where Three own or a have a deal in place with a network - e.g. I was able to use my calls texts and data in France last summer, but not when I went over the border into Belgium (but then it was available again when I got to the Netherlands!).
Next summer EU rules will be "Roam like at Home" for all networks and EU countries - but Three will still be a better bet if you want go outside the EU (e.g. the USA).

That quote is definitely more encouraging, thanks.

I think you're misinterpresting that - the factsheet states
"When you go abroad you will continue to enjoy your full allowance of calls and texts."

I wonder what the best deal is for at least 500 mins/texts & decent amount of data (4gb at least) that will allow tethering & will work in Europe at no xtra cost. Right now I'm three PAYG but all the decent deals seem to be retention deals. Any help greatly appreciated:)
Looking to spend around £10 to £13 a month or so and have a month to month contract.
abdbaas to leftfooter

If you're already with a provider with a contract that ended or is going to end soon you can definitely get it
shutsy2003 to leftfooter
15 Jan 17 #61
To be able to tether they explained to me I had to have at least 12gb of data per month (you can't tether abroad). I went for 200 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited three to three calls with the feel at home option as well for £14 per month on a rolling monthly contract. I spent ages on the phone bartering but they wouldn't budge. At least on this I can ring them periodically and try for better. Might be of some help to you as I was on 600 mins previously but with rest of our family on three I don't go anywhere near using 200 mins.
AndyRoyd
15 Jan 17 #59
Thanks, so there's no obligation for the network provider to deduct roaming use from inclusive contract allowances, so the network will presumably just charge roaming at its standard UK rates and allow charges to accrue up to "€50 (or the equivalent in another currency), unless you have agreed to a different limit..."
mtuk1
15 Jan 17 #58
Charming. Someone calls me an a hole and nothing is said about that.
ArthurDent1
15 Jan 17 #57
Charges are currently capped, as from June 15 2017 using your phone in any EU country will be the same as using it in your home country:

Change to a pay-monthly arrangement, then after a short period, contact 3 to attempt to negotiate a retention deal.
AndyRoyd
15 Jan 17 #55
That's an ideal concept, but possibly flawed. Would appreciate you indicating your credible source, thanks. Most contracts have inclusive allowances exclusively for use in UK, not abroad; I was under the impression that future roaming charges when in Europe would simply be the cost of call/txt/data as if the customer's monthly UK allowances had expired i.e. standard rates, not inflated roaming rates.

I think the EU thing is actually irrelevant - FAH operates elsewhere too - USA, Hong Kong & Australia for instance.

I personally think all these retention deals totally depend on the person in the call centre , I really think they give you a better deal of you call a UK based call centre . I left Virgin last week after being SIM only for about 10 years and got offered nothing close to all these deals posted this week , call centre was in Malaysia I think and they really aren't that bothered if you leave . went to three on that 8gb , 800 mins ultd text for £13 (12 month contract) ..that's enough for me , although I would have preferred a monthly contract .

I was under the impression that any EU laws in place at the time we actually leave the EU will still stand except laws we actually rescind ie immigration. So i am presuming EU roaming will still stand, plus I don't think Three will remove Feel at Home because its a good selling point / retention.

After spending half an hour on the phone to the retention department the best they'd do was an 8gb unlimited calls/ texts essential package. No tethering and no free allowance calls from abroad for £11.

Put your handbag away and stop jumping on people every time there is a grammar mistake or spelling.

I just ended a 6 year contract with Three the other day. Called through to retentions twice to see what they'd offer. They offered nothing like this and I tried pretty hard. The best deal they offered me was quite good but without feel at home which I didn't want to lose so didn't accept. Loyalty is barely ever rewarded well now.

In the end I just told them to change it to PAYG and I went online as a new customer and took out the £13 a month (discounted from £18 till the end of January) with 600min and 8gb for 12 months and with £50 Topcashback. Technically works out at under £9 a month after cashback.

I was originally on the one plan last year with unlimited everything for just £15 per month, when they forced me off it I ended up on a 8gb unlimited calls and texts with feel at home for £18pm in a 12 month contract. This just ended and I Called to cancel, wasn't offered much of a deal and they wanted another 12 month contract. so I stuck to my guns and said not good enough wanted my PAC code and then got passed through to a second caller who immediately offered my the same deal 8gb unlimited mins and text on feel at home on a monthly contract for just £13. I know people have better deals but I'm happy with that for now.

Networks may still charge for roaming but the price is capped. It'll become completely free from June next year (so you'll be able to use your calls, text and data anywhere in the EU without charge). Until we leave the EU, then who know what'll happen. But that's probably 2 years away and all our contracts will have expired by then.

That's about 29 days overdue. Would have been most beneficial to ask for PAC code(s) the month before contract end to prompt an earlier deal, especially as contracts tend to be paid monthly in advance and the PAC request is deemed to be notice but only if used.
