So much wrong information here.
I own 1 of these 24gb three 4g Sims
Facts: * It comes with a number, and can receive calls/texts * It cannot make calls/texts until you top it up. * If you top up to make calls then the data no longer lasts 24 months, it expires after a month, it's a DATA sim. If topped up with a plan that includes data, ALL data left on sim is lost and replaced with new data bought. * It does work abroad. I've always found THREE to be throttled when using it abroad. * Of course they work in a phone. Ridiculous comment above saying tablet/mifi/dongle only. Mines is currently in a Samsung S5.

hi, does this last for 24 months or do you have to use it within 30 days once you've registered it, seems too good to be true, amazon it says "Pre-loaded with 24 GB of data which is valid for up to 24 months topped up and ready to go
Connects your 3G or 4G tablet to the internet wherever you are
Once you've used up your preloaded data, top-up and Pay As You Go or maximise your top-up with value add-ons for use within 30 days; use your add-on's data allowance to get online abroad at no extra cost in 42 destinations worldwide
You can top-up online with or without registering a card Just have your card details or voucher ready, along with the SIM number you'd like to top-up
My3 allows you to manage your account and save your card details, redeem a voucher, buy Add-ons and keep an eye on your spending"
thanks

u can top up but for data sim I think u can't use the credit for calls I can't make or receive calls on a data sim is that correct anyone want to confirm this either way. I'm bit suspicious of the no use by date thing I wouldn't buy loads for years to come as I remember loads of deals from the past promised free things but didn't deliver such as free Skype for ever offer by three whom try blame Skype for not keeping it free.

This Amazon Exclusive one is actually valid for 2 years once activated, it will last for 24 months unless you use up 24GB within that time-frame.
Great for cheap WhatsApp access, this also works abroad so double bonus :-)
Actually you can top these up once you run out of DATA, but the £ per GB is obviously not as good as buying another SIM. (At least that was the case with a 12GB version)

Basically, this is for people with dual sim phones or tablets with SIM card slots. There's no point topping up after you have used the 24GB as it will be more efficient to just buy a new SIM. It runs at 4G and the data expires after 24 months. However, it said on mine you have to use a MB every 4 months or something or it will not be active. No you cannot have this SIM for both data and calls / texts its only for data. I've got one in my dual sim phone right now, so message me if you have any questions

I have one of these in my cellular iPad. They are brilliant. The three app will keep track of your usage and as others have mentioned, it is indeed 24 months of validity from activation. My experience with all the other sizes of sim (1GB through 12GB) were that in recent years they now block them from working if you use them in a phone (must be a dongle/mifi/tablet & will work if you move it out of the phone into an allowed device), which is a shame/bordering unfair/stupid. Also you can top them up (no idea why you would) & they are only meant to work for data & sms only (for above reason never tried calls as never tried in a phone)

I tried using a three sim in usa, 6 different states and Internet was terrible, the voice & text very good. luckily I found enough hotspots and our hotels all had wifi. I had even checked the areas covered and tried changing roaming providers - really got no better. ended up buying a sim there which was about same price but 100 times faster and allowed tethering without messing.
minted83
10 Jan 17#58
You CAN top these up with calls. I have done. I topped up mine with a calls/text/data package and it completely wiped out my data. It may not offer it online, but if you buy a top-up from a shop it allows you to choose any package available on any THREE PAYG sim. I had to call THREE who very helpful restored my data, though I lost the cost of the top-up. That was this very same item on Amazon.
if this has changed, it's a very recent change. I bought this 6 months ago on Amazon, and topped it up about 3 months ago.

I just got back from Barcelona where I was using this and tethering is blocked (gives you an error a few hours later) but they block it based on the clients user-agent, so I would expect even mifi to not work unless you connecting to it with phones and not a PC.

I used mine last year in Spain with a MiFi and tablets & phones were working fine (all be it throttled).
Three heavily throttle bandwidth when abroad so these SIMS are only good for web browsing, sat nav, whatsapp ..etc anything bandwidth heavy like youtube is pretty much unusable sadly.
Read the thread fella!! I've answered this question multiple times!!
YES, these SIMS as they stand (ie without extra topup) CAN recieve both texts and voice calls, they CANNOT however send texts or make voice calls. (You can add a topup once your DATA has run out and treat it like any other PayAsYouGo SIM)

10 Jan 17#70
Yes tablet/phone will be fine as the user agent will be mobile related - its when you try using it with a PC/Mac is where they stop the tethering. I can only pick up 3G (Vodafone I get 4g) from my house over there, so can't comment on speed.

I always buy these for my chalet which has no internet , use it with my mifi dongle without any problems and usually make sure I have a spare one as my Grandson goes through a lot of data
Oddly enough the last time I was there the park next door's wifi was connecting without a password which it has never done before , so if this carries on I won't need to buy any more of these plus I have a contract for wifi as well which I will cancel as this is just to top up the contract data as my pre teen Grandson with Autism uses LOADS! :smirk:
It is handy for when you go abroad as well so I might keep one handy for that purpose and therefore my dongle will occasionally be of use then too ( fingers crossed the next door park don't go back to needing a password for it's wifi as it does cost me a fortune!! )

As this is tablet 3g SIM, Three does not allow this to work in a smartphone. 3/4g tablets only. I learned this to my cost and had to persuade Three to apply credit towards 1 month phone sim card. Don't buy thinking that you can simply get it to work in a dual sim smartphone for data only.

If you want to make calls you just put £5 on it but don't turn the money into an add-on then the cost of any texts or calls come off the £5 and it does not expire as long as you make a call or text once every 6 months.
The rates without add-on are: calls are 3p min (landline or mobile) and texts 2p each.
There is no voicemail available on data sims.

Hong Kong is a Feel At Home destination. This means you can use your device there at no extra cost unless you're on one of our new Essential Plans. With Feel At Home, calls and texts back to the UK and using data will come out of your existing Pay Monthly allowance, if you have one.

12 Jan 17#121
Would this be ok in a mifi ?
pooool
12 Jan 17#122
Hi DCFC79.
This is ideal for a mifi. I share one with my mob at home and just bought another mifi and this sim for my own use when I'm out.
I also used it in Portugal but as others mentioned Three throttles it abroad. Still OK for basic emails and browsing tho...
wildecat
12 Jan 17#123
With these data sims:
You can make calls at the standard 321 rate if you add credit.
It wouldn't activate the '3 in touch app' or let you use the 2G fallback network in the UK.
They didn't offer the all in one bundles, only data bundles.
The included data will work in any 'Feel at Home' destination and the calls abroad are charged as per 3 PAYG without a voice bundle (still cheap)
Data is throttled but varies from location to location, as you a a roamer in the local network and therefore low priority (on the local network) anyway. I never had any major issues.
Non 'Feel at Home' you have to pay as per PAYG rates for data, voice and text.

There's a tab on the amazon del page for this that says "used £24.37" Anyone know if they mean used! Can't imagine they do, but it doesn't say. Guessing it will have 24gb but maybe it's already activated? Any one got any feedback for that?

Can anyone tell me how this sim card works please? I've never used one before and I'm thinking of getting one to use abroad. Do I just pop it in the phone and it will work automatically?
Do I need to activate the card in the UK first before flying or could I activate the card whilst over there?

I keep it in my lenovo yoga 10 tablet and it saves me the hassle of having to tethter from my phone. Only downside is that it is drawing more battery on my tablet comparing to being wifi only.

I'm a little confused, so if I were to top it up to make calls and text then the 24GB would disappear? Saw this and wanted to use it as my daily sim with calls and text

Just received this from Amazon for use in my OnePlus 3 phone. Seems to be working fine. They don't appear to block it because it isn't a tablet.

I paid nearly that for their 12GB valid
for 12 months which as yet I haven't used so this is an excellent deal.

Delivery came. Put the sim in. Internet works.
Amazon send me an email a few days after saying there was an issue with delivery (on their side) and they're giving me a full refund.
Free 24 month sim!

would it be sensible to use this in a dual sim phone (dual standby)?
I'm new and confused as to dual sim phones, (I'm getting one with a dual sim standby),
can I use this sim for data ONLY in the second slot with calls in the first sim slot AND still receive call notification anytime from sim 1 whilst I am using data from the second sim OR do I need to choose one sim or the other at a time....

I keep this simple in my yoga tab so there's no need to use my phones hotspot and that helps to preserve its battery and saves time.

I've bought one of these for holiday to the US and also bought a E5573 Huawei to use with it but started reading its not a great device to use in the US due to limited support for the frequency range.
Can anyone recommend a device that works well in the US with this SIM?

I know this deal has expired, but some info for when it comes back on the market.
YES it does work in a mobile phone (well in my unlocked Moto G anyway). Opened the back, stuck in the sim, and 3 automatically sent me the settings to use internet/MMS etc.
Secondly, my 24Gig version actually came loaded with 24,576 (just register the sim number online with 3 to create an account to view and manage).
PS. I got this sim to use with a spare phone, as Sat Nav via Android Auto (google maps) in my cars entertainment system. Working perfectly, £27 for 2 years driving ain't a bad deal...

I own 1 of these 24gb three 4g Sims
Facts:
* It comes with a number, and can receive calls/texts
* It cannot make calls/texts until you top it up.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. :-)
You can top-up online with or without registering a card Just have your card details or voucher ready, along with the SIM number you'd like to top-up
My3 allows you to manage your account and save your card details, redeem a voucher, buy Add-ons and keep an eye on your spending"
thanks
thanks for your reply, ordered one
Must have been for a very brief period because it did not register on camelcamel.
Great for cheap WhatsApp access, this also works abroad so double bonus :-)
Actually you can top these up once you run out of DATA, but the £ per GB is obviously not as good as buying another SIM. (At least that was the case with a 12GB version)
"Use Your Data Abroad at No Extra Cost
With this you can use it abroad at no extra cost in 42 feel at home destinations while on holiday, including USA, Australia, Germany, Portugal, Greece and others. That’s more destinations than any other UK mobile network. Pay As You Go customers need an add-on to get an allowance to use data at no extra cost in 42 destinations worldwide. For holiday use only. Limits apply. See Three.co.uk/feelathome"
So new SIM thereafter may be advised instead perhaps ...
Also any way to check data usage without regustering? Used to be able to on EE 100gb sims obvioisly the data resit itself on my ipad but its good to know via the company
Any ideas for best bet for mifi use (have a 4g mifi unit)?
Tempted to get another - though wondering if they have an activation date.
Agreed, also YOU CAN receive both texts and voice calls WITHOUT any additional topup with these DATA SIMS

Correct so far!
Not on mine!!!!
Managing mine with the My3 web-interface account the following facts ARE true
Data top-ups are ALLOWED and ADD to the existing 24 months data
Text package top-ups are ALLOWED
Calls topups are NOT ALLOWED - in fact they do not exist to be purchased

23839 MB(s) Mobile Broadband Starter Kit 24GB
How would you like to top-up?

if this has changed, it's a very recent change. I bought this 6 months ago on Amazon, and topped it up about 3 months ago.
24 months from date of registering?
Gotta love Amazons algorithms.
I did it, I'm not imagining it.
Do you actually own one of of these 24Gb SIMs bought (from Amazon) in the last 3 weeks? If not you are still WRONG!
In any event I have posted evidence....which is more than you have!
:smirk:
It is handy for when you go abroad as well so I might keep one handy for that purpose and therefore my dongle will occasionally be of use then too ( fingers crossed the next door park don't go back to needing a password for it's wifi as it does cost me a fortune!! )
The rates without add-on are: calls are 3p min (landline or mobile) and texts 2p each.
There is no voicemail available on data sims.
What have I been missing here ??
The data is valid for 24 months from first activation. Mine was activated on 23/12/2016 and runs to 23/12/2018
How did you use it in South Africa? Just asking as that is not one of the Feel At Home destinations.
Thank you!
I use a TP Link m7350 unlocked mainly for the 4G capability - dual band as well.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-M7350-LTE-Advanced-Lightning-Unlocked/dp/B00PFXFWTQ
Mulled this SIM over and have ordered to give it a punt.
Might be crap abroad but was cheap so no great biggie if it is unusable.
Cancelled my nominated day order @ £27.97 and reordered at cheaper price for delivery 19/1.
I assume it will be fine bearing in mind Three is a Hong Kong company.
Can anyone provide a definitive answer please before I possibly waste my money on one. Many thanks.
This is ideal for a mifi. I share one with my mob at home and just bought another mifi and this sim for my own use when I'm out.
I also used it in Portugal but as others mentioned Three throttles it abroad. Still OK for basic emails and browsing tho...
Do I need to activate the card in the UK first before flying or could I activate the card whilst over there?
