I seriously don't think there are many scientifically proven studies that show frying pans, microwaves, aspartame or meat cause cancer. Apart from those that want to find a cause.

Cancer is a disease that often affects anyone, at random. People should get more angry at the pharmaceutical and "cancer research" charities which I have heard have cures and make a fortune because it isn't in their interest to stop raking in money. Also the government which refuse to pay £10 tests which can diagnose early cancers like Ovarian.

Anyway, way off the point arguing with the ignorant on the internet!

Always thought these pans were utterly pointless if you have a normal size frying pan. Only money saving I can see is saving a bit on oil - which fried eggs need to baste.

Every time I buy through Amazon I always make sure to click through the hospice that looked after my mum. Glad that there are other options to Macmillan and RNLI now - as both these charities get a hell of a lot of money!

lol yeah, had to justify the £8+ spend on a one egg pan as I already have 3 or 4 large ones :S btw the IKEA one is £3.75 and works great, I think it measures slightly more than Tefal, might be wrong though

If you don't believe me just visit a hospice. I feel sorry for the people dying there for no fault of theirs. Anything which is carcinogenic should be banned from food chain as cancer is an incurable disease which destroys lives and families. How many people I have known in past have died from cancer. You won't be saying this once you get cancer.

This is a Tefal, a brilliant little pan and better quality than the ones you mention from Asda (they may be Teflon but they are not Tefal).

Just use a teaspoon of oil and then flip the egg over to cook the other side. A small smartprice spatula will slide under the egg to take it out.

18 Jan 17 #119
No need for non-stick pans.

Just get a cheap solid cast iron pan, and every time you use it wash with water only (no washing liquid) until it is clean.

This will season the pan and it will be beautifully and naturally non stick. I cook all my eggs in cast iron pans this way and they never stick.

Who says you have to cook one egg on it's own?

I use mine to make omelettes which are the perfect size to fit on a barm or a muffin. I use multiple eggs for said omelette.
snedger
18 Jan 17 #105
Hot deal!
Nice perfectly shaped fried egg - I cannot persuade eggs to fully stay inside egg rings, so one day, when I find a suitable induction uno egger, I will get one.
**edit - not sure how previous searches have failed, but apparently the Japanese have a square shaped tamagoyaki pan for frying eggs.
Cooking egg on non-stick: no oil required, when egg is starting to set add a splash of water - preferably from the recently boiled for your cup of tea kettle - cover with a lid/microwavable plate (get yourself some silcone pan lids if you haven't got a lid) and in no time the egg will fully set from steaming - only snag that if you like runny yokes and you get distracted, then you might over cook. Egg will slide out, or after some use, might need a nudge with a spatula.

Isn't this really expensive. Larger Teflan frying pans sell at £7 in ASDA as standard and are regularly reduced to £5.

18 Jan 17 #103
Have one of these as part of a tefal set. Great little item. Perfect for one egg, YES ONE, for the times when you might be having something else with it and one egg will suffice. Mainly bought for its perfect circle shape. Fits nicely only a muffin or barm.

Only need a drop of oil or whatever u use and it just slides off. If you need to turn you can use a spatula or butter knife, it won't scratch if u use your common sense!

Been using this for a year, its a great pan. I just put a tiny bit of olive oil and spread it around then crack egg into it. Leave it alone for a min on low to medium and when the bottom is good just use something flat and turn it into other side. Doesnt even take 3 mins.

Haven't tried plate on top might have to try that.

no other decent cooks here?

no need for sunny side up/ turning egg

just put pan on medium, plenty of oil so it doesn't stick, crack in your egg/s, PUT A PLATE OR LID ON TOP, time it 2 mins & done

top of the egg will be done lovely as well as the bottom but not over-done in the middle

Stainless steel is best, soak it for hours and wipes away. I've carbonised foof stuff before and baked it on black, metal sourer and all is well - a bit discoloured now inside and out due to excessive heat but the copper bottom is fine.

The old Ikea brushed stainless steel ones externally are easy to keep clean inside and out, all metal so great for the oven too! The newer ones have thinner handles bolted on, not the thick handles welded together at manufacture that remain cooler cooking than the new thin handled ones.
