I think you should give it more time before deciding whether it's for you or not. I'm not going to suggest you buy it if you don't already have it, but at least get through the first episode. Unfortunately even that doesn't really give a sense of what the full experience is like but let me assure you, as a male in my early forties it is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, and I've been gaming a long time.
I feel that this is a game that will long be remembered as a special game, because it is. A future cult classic.

This game is alright, it's enjoyable I guess but nothing special like some make it sound. If you've played other story intense games this is average. The dialogue is hit n miss. I found it quirky/amusing at first but it soon found myself thinking it was odd/unrealistic. Teens don't talk like the way they talk in this game. Max especially. Also the ending is very...strange in a not good way. It's acceptable if you don't think too much about it but...
TLDR: Game is a mixed bag, would probably rate 6/10 maybe 6.5. It's definitely no TWD or Last of Us so don't expect it to be.

Yes, after you buy this Complete Season there is nothing more to buy. Episode 1 has been free for a while, so you're really buying 2 - 5. That's the complete season 1.
A Google search tells me there is a season two in the works though.

Sorry - being really dumb...same question as painty #31 'episode 1' for free...'complete season' is £3.99...so are we talking episodes 1, 2, 3 4 & 5 for £3.99...whole story...no more to buy...fini, complete, end?!

OK. I've been biting my tongue but to be honest I cannot understand the amount of positive things said about this game. :disappointed:
100% agree. Not that the idea of playing from a female perspective is bad (I loved playing Mass Effect as the female shepherd and also really enjoyed 'Gone Home'). The problem is that it's from the perspective of an incredibly immature teenage girl who acts all sweet and innocent (and frankly naive) one minute but then the next moment is using some of the most foul language (both written and spoken) I've ever heard (second only to 'The Wolf Among Use' - awesome game by the way).
It was such a cool idea that they frankly wasted on a throwaway protagonist, HUGE amounts of filler and writing that left me bored.
I paid more than this but even for £4 I wouldn't recommend it for the wasted time.
Download the demo and see if its your thing before buying. I couldn't bring myself to finish this (much like 'Game of Thrones').
P.S. Fair warning to developers out there. If your game involves collecting cans or taking goddamn selfies to progress the 'story' you've done something wrong!
Ahh. That was therapeutic!

I really don't want to drag this any further off topic but this really isn't TB's type of game and he makes it plain continually that he is all about game mechanics and isn't really interested in story driven games. He is a decent reviewer (as far as YouTube reviewers go) but I know that me and him have very different preferences and tastes.
So, I wouldn't let a somewhat lukewarm video from TB sway my decision. The fact remains that describing it as a "Highschool drama from the perspective of a teenage girl" just does not reflect the game accurately at all.
I haven't watched the video you linked to, but I assume it's the one I have seen as well. As far as I remember this was based entirely on the first episode and *really* shouldn't be paid much attention to.

There's only been two games I've played in my life that gives me that empty feeling after completing it and this is one of those games. The other is The Last of Us. If you haven't played this game do it. I would recommend playing it by yourself though so you get the full experience and not distracted. (That empty feeling is when I really feel for the characters and what happened, and I don't know what to do next - no other game is gonna give me the feels like this again).

Got it in writing? I have no time to watch a 22 min video to look for the words "life is strange is nothing more than a Highschool drama from the perspective of a teenage girl". Anyway it was a great game imo, one of, if not the best of its genre.

Finished this game last week on xbox one, great game recommended to anyone who has not played, at least try the first episode for free
Total Biscuit's review describes it exactly as that... Far too many gaming journalists are shills, so much garbage gets 10/10 these days so I'm very cautious about who gets my money... TB is one of the few opinions I trust, he didn't slate the game by any means, but I came away feeling like it was made for teenage girls.

First game in a long time that had me so emotionally invested.
Yes the main protagonist and most of the characters are American teenagers but that never stopped it drawing me in.
Probably in my top 3 games of all time (starting many moons ago with the C64, discounting typing my own games into a ZX81).
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but at this price i'd say it is well worth the risk

That's not correct. This was on PSN (PS4) for a similiar price just before Christmas. I downloaded the first episode to try, and then completely missed the great deal. Now they're £3.99 per episode. Gutted. Hopefully, PSN will do it again. I bought Until Dawn to play for now.
EDIT: just checked and the season pass was £4.99, but they also had Seasons 1-5 for the same price, but now it's been removed. There is a "complete" selection. So, I'll wait for it to come back down to £4.99.

If the scene you're describing is the one I'm thinking of (the Vortex club party at the school), then that's towards the end of episode 4 i.e. near the end of the game. If you got that far why did you stop? If the music or characters' accents bother you, surely that's something you'd notice right at the start of the game? If my assumptions are correct then you've really missed out because the latter parts of the game are great, particularly the 'big reveals'. I felt real emotional weight towards the end.
