This is for the Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 II Digital Camera at the cheapest price I can find online for the MK2. WEX are also throwing in an official Sony Case (legitimately worth £69) and extended warranty which they state is worth £29.
This is a fantastic camera that regularly receives amazing reviews. Has a number of improvements over the MK1. Produces fantastic shots and can slip into your pocket. The extra case is a nice bonus to keep the camera clean.
This is the cheapest I can find this camera for with £100 of accessories. Still in stock after I ordered one.
I own this camera and it takes fantastic images and a brilliant substitute from my DSLR.

It's ridiculous how this is still commanding this price after all these years! I'm a Sony a7ii owner before anybody accuses me of being a Sony hater but with each generation they keep taking the mick with the previous gen pricing
I'm In the market for a camera
Looking at the rx100 but read that some revisions not as good as earlier versions. Except maybe the latest which is about £1k. More reading needed
Then the Panasonic gx80 which I can get £200 off and this comes in at around £350. But the internal mic is poor and no external mic option
The canon g7x mk2 as an option of approx £470
I am still none the wiser as to what is the best value with current offerings

I am in your same situation. After a good camera for Video and photos. looked at Lumix Gx80 but put off with poor quality sound. what else is the best option? any recommendations??? price ranger under £500

Get the g80. Cannot beat the price for what you're getting. Also better than this given that it's interchangeable lense and it doesn't overheat after 5 mins recording 4k.

But is Sony greater

And it should only come down over time especially as a new model comes out every year

these cameras seem to buck that trend. they bring out a bigger better one but keep producing the old models and keep the price the same (as they're still so good) I love my mark 3 but still haven't got a clue how to use it

but the base level of picture quality is roughly the same for each of the models - its just extra functions and features paying for now
they are still a bit overpriced especially vs what they have been before but even the oldest is still premium imo

Different class of camera though so difficult to compare.

the MK 3 is a decent step up though that makes me want the Mk 1 and 2 less... 24-70mm F1.8-2.8 lens vs 28-100mm F1.8-4.9 lens on the older models.

I am going to for the gx80
The video stabilisation in the body and lense is one of the big reasons.
Now I need to hunt for some battlers, SD card and bag

Much nicer lens with the MK3 + an EVF. Not much difference between the MK1 & MK2 though.

I am happy I grabbed the Cannon G7x first gen before they pulled it off the shelves, the prices are crazy now for all similar leading cameras.

So practically, the rx100 mk3 will give shallower dof all across focal lenghts and work better in low light than, lets say, an Canon body with a 24-70/f2.8L..?..or do I miss something here?

I'm planning to sell my RX100 MK1 if anyone's interested. I may list it..

not quite, as you'd be comparing an apsc or 35mm sensor vs a significantly smaller sensor(1.0" I believe).
This would be an alternative if you were considering a micro 4/3 kit or to accompany a dslr setup

RX100 with it's 1" sensor will give you as shallow depth of field as Vivitar 40 gigapixel compact that you can buy at your local gas station.

You are right...apparently, just find out, that when Sony says 1" sensor, means 13.20mm...how this makes sense, I don't know..!

1" diagonal perhaps?

It's due to an entirely obsolete method of measuring sensors based on video tubes, the important thing to bear in mind is simply the differences between the sensors - a 1in sensor is around a stop smaller than a 4/3 sensor, another stop difference between 4/3 and APS-C and another stop between APS-C and full frame. Getting a 1in sensor size into a body this small with a decent lens would be near impossible, the closest camera in that regard is the RX1 which is a compact camera using a Sony FF sensor although it's bigger than the RX100 and has a fixed 35mm F2 prime lens. More information on sensor sizes here:
In terms of the RX100 vs a micro 4/3 camera, it depends on what you want to do with it. I bought the RX100 purely as a pocket camera which I find it superb for, it offers just the right balance of size and image quality. I'd previously used a Panasonic micro 4/3 camera but even with a prime or pancake zoom I just found it too bulky to keep in a jacket pocket.

The Panasonic GX80/85 does look like a great camera and is a little cheaper I agree. For me though, I want something truly pocketable, that I can shove in my jeans pocket on the way out of the door. The Panasonic is just a little too big for that and I personally know I would never uses interchangeable lenses.

exactly, i got an ilc and sort of cursed how big it was as just had the kit lens at the time so wasn't much point having it vs an rx100
but once i expanded my lenses it was capable of more so was at that point worthwhile
if not going to change over that 3x zoom then rx100 series probably has a camera for everyone
Quite right, it wasn't yesterday though. Worth having IMO as he RX100 I had developed a fault after 11 months.

Thanks for the info, really helpful...90% of my photography is travelling/backpacking so size and weight are important for me too...
Just recently upgrade from an eos m to m3 which is perfect for me as I can fit it in a small waist bag or my jacket pocket when I'm in travel mode...just came back from a 10 day trip, and realise that most of my images would have look a lot better if they had the more depth a fast lens can give than the standard kit zoom. I had a second body with me, a xt10, with couple fast mf primes that took some good photos, but its pain swapping primes all the time and is a lot bulkier than the m3.
For a moment I thought that the rx100 can combine narrow dof in small size...

This is back up to £419 but still has the 1 year extended warranty worth £29.99.
Looks like these camera prices fluctuates daily. Really want to get one but will end up being on sale the day after for cheaper. lol
