This is my first ever post but had to share on here

My contract was up for renewal and not wanting to change my phone I opted for a sim only deal

Using the plusnet deals as bait, I called 150 and was offered the following:

4GB with unlimited mins and text at £8.99 8GB with unlimited mins and text at £13.50

This is on 4G....I went with the 8GB option

Not a bad deal me thinks!

OP got a retention deal. You will not get it if you are a new customer.

to get said deal, you need to put forward the virgin sim only deal for £15 a month which has 20gb...EE will match it. Tried and tested, I however got 15gb data roaming in Europe with free BT sports app for the full 12 months.
also state that virgin is a monthly rolling and use the EE network, so you don't even have to unlock your phone :-D
happy bartering!

For £15/month getting 20GB data, 4G unlimited, unlimited text and talk. EU roaming on 8GB data, unlimited text and talk so for an extra £1.50 a lot better deal i my view and went about it the same way.. There is a lengthy thread on the matter somewhere.

Three currently offering 12gb for £13 and 30gb for £18. Both with 600mins and unlimited texts. But you can also use abroad at no extra cost. Wifi calling works a treat in my house as no signal in the house. If you have certain phones you also get 4g super voice which is better again for houses with poor signal.

Got the same deal as the OP last night, as I mentioned the 3 deal. Seems to be the £26 EE plan, discounted. 500mb data usage abroad, not as good as 3 but saved me having to switch and risk losing the decent coverage I have at home.

I called as my contract and they are really generous at keeping existing customers. I went from paying £15.99 for Unltd min & text and 2GB of 4G data to 7GB data on 4GEE Max and Unltd texts & mins (UK and from EU to UK) plus 6 months Apple Music and BT Sports for 12.99! They do some good cashback deals and are extremely reliable with paying but it's better to get the same deal without the need for cashback.
I have one month remaining of a cashback deal I took it out this time last year. Costing me a couple of quid a month after cashback but it's only 2gb data and I am on the lookout for a deal that has a
Bit more data. The 100+mb speed I can get doesn't get very far when I am on the road.

The EE 'upgrades' team won't always offer you the best deal, they offered me £25 a month for 10gb data, unlimited texts and calls. I said it's not good enough and asked to be put through to the cancellations team for a PAC code, that's when I got offered the £15 a month for 20gb data, unlimited mins and calls, within a minute!! Didn't even have to argue! Massive difference in the two deals, always worth going through to cancellations!

I am currently with Vodafone and wanting to go Sim Only.

Do you know if they would offer these deals to new customers? If i called up and enquired then said actually i can this deal from Virgin for £15 etc would they match it?

Or is it for retentions only so id have to be with them for a year then ring to cancel etc?

2 months ago I called up and asked for my PAC code, with EE don't accept any offers initially rather get the PAC on hand and then the last guys will give you a call back and literally offer a ridiculous offer to keep you. At first they said they can't match my 20gb with unlimited mins and texts for £20 so I requested PAC code, 4 hours later they called and after a 15 min call I was offered 20gb data (12 which you can use in eu) unlimited mins and texts again can be used to and from Europe as well as a years free bt sports for......£11.99 couldn't refuse plus it was their fastest speeds

25gb uk data
unlim text & mins uk
unlim text & mins EU
up to 15gb data use in EU
Free 6 months BT Sport

Maybe a little overkill on data but at £16.50 per month its a bargain.

Its the outbound retention team you require. Often the other team you are put through to are not even aware of best ee offers.
I have got to know one of them and he is a really good guy. Just redone 2 contracts on 20gb ult/ult as previous posts for 15.
You could get the cheapest 30 day contract from ee then cancel, then you can be retained.

Just rang them.
They wont waive the £13 buyout charge for the remaining 2 months of my contract but they price matched the Virgin 20Gb (£15) deal immediately without me asking twice.

Been with EE since the days of Freeserve, Wanadoo etc who they bought out of business and pay 13.00 for 2GB of data and 1GB of that 2GB was their retention team's best offer to keep me on as a customer. Original deal was 1GB data for 13.00 !! I get great speeds on 4GEE from them, around the 100Mb/s upload and download at times but with only 2GB to last a month I don't do much of that. Contract ends in March. Don't care if they offer me 20GB for free, they mugged me last time. I'll tell them to shove whatever sweetener they dangle in front of me to stay. I'm happy for all you guys getting 4GB and 8GB for the price I pay for 2GB but there's too many good deals elsewhere just now to warrant staying with them whatever they offer. They shafted me last year. They lose me this one.

seaniboy
12 Jan 17 #74
12 months ? sorry this is freezing cold, there are 30 days sims out there that give way more. I wont vote cold though.

Example:

Virgin 5000/unlimited/20GB £15 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/20-gb-4g-sim-only-virgin-mobile-5000-min-unltmd-txt-15-a-month-30-day-contract-for-2588603

Unless you are transferring huge loads of data, ie a business where BT exchange has no Fibre then EE 4G Max with speeds upto 60 MBPS, or 90 in London - which beggers belief when EE told Ofcom rural not urban, then Virgin/EE basic plans do the job most places
xeroc
12 Jan 17 1 #75
Not sure why this is hot, given that the 20gb deal (mentioned previously on this thread) for £15 got voted freezing cold. That thread would indicate the 20gb deal is still active. I got it myself. Just keep trying various CS people.. I had to be put through to a 'manager' to authorise it.

Not only for an extra £1.50 do you get loads more data but you're also on the Max plan, which gives the inclusive EU roaming etc, plus BT sport for the life of the contract + 6months free Apple Music.

Ice cold! Sorry OP. I'd see if you can get them to 'upgrade' you again to the 20gb plan!

I pay £13 a month with three for 30gb data, 600 mins and unl texts, plus call abroad free etc.

As someone has already mentioned, this is cold. BT and EE have spent so much pretending they have a good network that deep down they can't even price their services accordingly.

It takes a customer to really, really, want to cancel for them to consider reducing their prices? Is that how they think business works?

I would have moved to them had they offered a decent deal. Alas they couldn't get anywhere near Three's pricing.

When upgrading EE it is useful to look at their website promotions but also the regular plans which are not as easy to see on the website

http://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/Help-PDFs/Pay%20Monthly%2024%20month%20Price%20Plans%20Guide%20on%20or%20after%2017%20%20August%202016.pdf

Personally EE are crap in large parts of Fife, Tayside and the Highlands in my experience with many handsets - worse than Orange ever was, probably because they shut down loads of Orange base stations and Orange always was better than One2One/T-Mobile for coverage but better speeds on the latter - which is no good where people know have very poor or no signal where they once did lol.

In the Highlands, Vodafone & o2 still seem to be more dog, which wont change with Cornerstone as I doubt they will decommission like Orange/T-Mobile merger did by the thousands.

Strange how different people are getting different responses to price matching of Virgin deal.
Like I stated earlier, they agreed to price match immediately without me asking twice.
I said I'd call back, which I did and said I wouldn't use that much data so I would be paying for data I wouldn't use.
The cs rep then offered me 4gb for £8, I asked for PAC to see if the "refuse to lose" could do better but she said both offers are open to me if I change my mind before using PAC.
They couldn't do better than that.
I'll wait and see if they ring me... If not I'll let the contract run and try again in a month because I still have some time in my contract remaining.

I don't need as much as 8GB data so I've got the unlimited mins and text 4GB 4GEE Max EU calls and 12 months BT sport for £7.99. I quoted a deal I found on mobilephonesdirect with 3 which is u/ltd calls, texts, 4GB 12 month for £8. http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/sim-only/micro You can also get £10.05 cashback via Quidco making it £7.16 a month but I couldn't get EE down lower than £7.99. Still worked out better for me to stick with EE as I don't have to give 30 days notice to switch tarrifs. EE also said the plan was discounted from £22.99 and that the discount doesn't expire so it continues to roll on at £7.99 after 12 months.

Managed to get the 13.50 deal with 8gb data. First guy didnt see the deal on his screen, he put me through to another guy who matched it straight away. Should also note that you can use the allowances within the EU at no extra cost.

Thanks OP

Should have got the unlimited mins, unlimited text, 20 Gb deal posted on here today!
Yes, it's £1.50 a month more, £18 a year... but 20GB a month! .......

I can't thank you enough for this, got the same deal when I mentioned price match with Virgin.. massive upgrade from lousy 2 GB, 2000 min plan.

Fun fact, the guy told me that they cannot mention this offer to customers as part of retention unless caller tells them they have seen this offer elsewhere and asks for match.

Hi may i ask how you exactly got that one? Thanks

I quoted the deal in the OP, he said I can do that.....so you got them....then I asked them to just drop the data down

I was in my 14 day trial sim only. they matched virgin. from 12g to 20gig. 12g abroad. unlimited calls and texts £15. superb thanks

I went for:

12M SIM Max Plan 4GB £22.99 PLAN

Deal: £7.99pm (£15 discount pm)
Unlimited Minutes
Unlimited Texts
4GB of 4G++ Data

All calls & data can be used in Europe
BT Sports app & suscription

I called 150 and selected option to upgrade or leave. I did not need to ask for PACK code but this was a Retentions team member. I asked if they can match the offer I had seen for unlimited minutes and texts and 4GB Data for £8. She checked with her manager and confirmed that they could. She said that this would include only 0.5 GB of data in Europe. She said that is only available on the Max Plan and went back to check with her manager and came back to confirm that they could indeed offer it to me.

This now also included BT Sports as well as full use of allowance in Europe.

I was not asked for any details of the offer I had asked to match. The offer I had was actually £10pm but with £24 Cashback worked out to £8pm (http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/shopping-basket?/cache/basket/add/sim_only/pay-monthly-three-micro/three-4g-10-unlimited-e-12-4gb/free-delivery/cashback-by-redemption/index.html/add/sim_only/pay-monthly-three-micro/three-4g-10-unlimited-e-12-4gb/free-delivery/cashback-by-redemption)

She mentioned 50p charge for calling 084/085 numbers and I asked her to maintain the ADD-ON I always have:

300 min of 084/085 numbers for £3 pm

Worth the extra £3pm if you need to call such number every now and then and also can be used to make international calls via 084/087 access numbers.

I was hoping that the discounted main plan would roll on after 12 months but I was told that I would need to ring in and see what upgrade options were available at that time.

I was also told that I was entitled to an offer on a second line and that they could offer the exact same deal.

I think if one has Wifi at home and work, 4GB of data is plenty. Good luck with your efforts.

Damn lucky you got a great deal there, I called them yesterday and all I got from Retention was
2GB Data, Unlimited Calls & Text for £10 a month :/

They would match the plusnet deal, but only on a 12 month contract vs. 4Gb/unlimited/unlimited on 3 day. No 8.99 here. So I decided to go with Plusnet - 7.50 deal. it's good enough for me.

Tried retentions again and they wouldn't offer me the 20gb for £15. Will try again tonight

Just did the 150, spoke to cancellations to ask for PAC code, spoke to 3 different people, not one tried to get me to stay, told the last person what I would be getting from Virgin's deal, they said, yeah great deal, made no attempt to counter or match it, so took my PAC and have swapped. Turns out Virgin use EE network to piggyback off anyways, so big discount and same coverage as before, not sure if I've received good service or not??? either way am now paying less for more :-)

pointless to share retention deals, as it's not the same for everyone.

It "is" a deal even if it helps a small proportion. Otherwise, all Android users will complain about Apple deals and vice-versa.

after 1 day I requested my PAC code I got a phone call from ee and was offered unlimited calls and text 13gb data. 500mb eu roaming and unlimited EU calls, text free call to 0800 for £12.99 seemed like a decent deal so I jumped on. I was had to mention I was joining virgin £12 rolling traffif
