That bad? Not seen it yet but the Daily Mail is on the warpath over it.

IMO it was a mess and made my mind switch off. I wont watch another season if they make another lol. Just felt like I was 18 and on speed again lol.

As much as it grates me to agree with the Daily Mail, I feel they really lost their way in this last series. Every episode felt too contrived, and gimmicky as a result. It felt like a low budget action film rather than an intelligent detective series. I'm glad they're not doing any more, but I just wish they'd finished on a high.

Back to when it was good. Loved every series up until this one, but now it is just trying to be too clever for its own good. First episode was a mess, second episode (just about) saved by the brilliantly creepy Toby Jones, not seen the final episode yet but it needs to bring this series down to Earth with a bump otherwise it's just been a huge wasted opportunity for the talent involved.

Series 3 and 4 have not been about solving crimes but how clever clever the writer(s) are. And it started so well!

I agree with the general consensus over lasts nights episode. I loved seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 was barely passable, but Season 4 has just ruined the show for me. I have absolutely no idea what the writers were thinking, but they shouldn't be allowed near any other TV shows.
I started watching this on Netflix last week and have only watched the first episode, are they all as ludicrously plotted as 'A Study In Pink'?
It all felt far too contrived and Doctor Who-ey, Benedict Cumberbatch was great though, one of the few saving graces. I might give it another episode to see if it improves but then again...

"Dr Who-ey" is definitely how it has started to feel.

Season 1 and 2 were excellent, but this most recent one has just been ridiculous. As has been stated above the 2nd episode of this most recent run was the best with the great Toby Jones, but even that had a mixture of obvious twists and just plain nonsense.
Seasons 1 and 2 are definitely the ones to go for. If this season has been anything to go by, I think it's probably a good idea that they stop now - although I've heard that they may go on. Heat added by the way :smirk:
