Probably go cold because of the whole blackfish thing but for anyone planning on going for the coasters (the shows are a rubbish waste of time anyway) Travel Republic have a pretty good price for the 14 day tickets at £99 per adult and £94 for a child, we asked 2 other companies to price match but one said they couldn't go that low and the other said they would literally be losing money on the tickets at that price
Florida tix is still more expensive even with their 5% off code https://www.floridatix.com/basket/index?addCancellation=false&deliveryType=1
Not interested in people's views on Seaworld, Don't care if this goes cold because of it...just looking to help anyone who wanted to go out
Think you could also use the top cash back £5 bonus to make these even cheaper...

Yes, shame on sea world for being the only company or individual to ever keep animals in captivity. You need a stupid username because you are stupid. Seaworld has probably done more for animal conservation and educating the public on animal conservation than most. IDIOT.

Prices are dependant on the date you want to go and will probably be around the same everywhere so florida tix with their 5% off would probably be the best bet atm... https://www.floridatix.com/park-tickets/discovery-cove
Definitely recommend a DC day, all food and drink included (even if you don't do the swim) the swimming with the stingrays is amazing, the bird sanctuary is pretty cool too!

This isn't an amazing deal (paid £372 for two adults and two kids last year) but unless time machines are on offer somewhere this is pretty good for two weeks of 'entertainment'.
Mako (the new one at Seaworld) is excellent as are Kraken and Manta!
Then a little trip down the road to Busch for some more great rides or a couple of hours at Aquatica for a splash.

Did this last August for substantially more and loved every minute of it! You'll definitely get your money's worth as all four parks (Seaworld, Aquatica, Busch Gardens and Adventure Island) are HUGE and each require a few days if you want to see and experience everything.

Busch Gardens have plenty of animals captive themselves so why do you differentiate? They are both great parks but Discovery Cove blow them away.

Tilikum died a few months ago didn't he? Poor thing. Seaworld has directly put animals in harms way for entertainment and put profits in front of welfare. Any kind of animal shows are completely archaic.

Ok so Blackfish has made me feel a bit uncomfortable about the fact that I've been here....only recently saw it. However, having been to all three parks and can say they're fantastic. Much more chilled than the other parks in the area. Well worth a visit.

29 Jan 171#35
Voted hot, great park if you want a more relaxed day. Those who make a decision based on Blackfish really need to take a more objective look at SeaWorld they do a lot of good in the central Florida region with injured and sick large marine mammals because they have the expertise to do so.
Also if you are concerned about animals being kept in captivity shouldn't you also avoid Animal Kingdom, Busch and Gatorland?
mocmocamoc
29 Jan 17#36
You should never take a one sided documentary trying to push their own view and take it as the truth, they do a lot of great stuff for conservation. It's also a great place to visit.
Good price for this, however for £160 you can go to Discovery Cove as well as that ticket includes a 2 week pass for the other parks AND free parking AND Busch Gardens. Well worth the extra IMO

Too many coasters now, which are too close to the animal areas, I went in 1998 and enjoyed it, went back in 2014 and there was a massive difference, wouldn't go back again.
Went to Discovery Cover in 2014 and that was brilliant, that is how these animal parks should be done now.
I've seen Blackfish, its shocking, but its pretty biased, SeaWorld do allot of good rescuing and helping animals in Florida.

Erm no ... they make large marine animals "injured and sick" meaning they lead awful lives and occasionally kill or attack their trainers. They have expertise in making money from gullible tourists. You can ease your own conscience by claiming that they do otherwise but ultimately they put wild animals in tiny tanks for nothing other than human entertainment.

Can you tell me why you think they have stopped their killer whale breeding program
mallory29029
29 Jan 17#50
Yes I certainly can. They have listened to the animal rights activists and decided to stop it. Well done to Seaworld for listening to the public. Hopefuly Now they can spend even more time on there successful conservation projects. Just to add an unbiased view not everyone was against keeping killer whales in captivity. Here's a quote form a seaworld customer "My kids loved the Killer whale, dolphin and seal shows at Sea World. It’s what got them interested in whales and other sea creatures in the first place and no they didn’t go there hoping shamu would eat the trainer that’s just stupid. Shutting down these shows would be a big mistake. Next thing you know some PETA nuts will make a sappy propaganda film about elephants and we’ll close the zoos."
archer1204

Sorry you just said They have listened to the animal rights activists and decided to stop it. Well done to Seaworld for listening to the public.
So you are calling all the public as animal right activists.

30 Jan 171#56
I think we just have to accept that some people will always overlook cruelty, repression and exploitation of people and/or animals to further their own pleasure or to justify their uninformed decisions. I despair, I really do, but I'm happy that where possible it won't be done in my name and that I won't have contributed to it or funded it. Hopefully, one day, places like SeaWorld won't exist. We know it would end sooner if people understood and didn't go but there will always be some who either don't want to know or simply don't care (or bizarrely, in this case, think it's actually a good thing).

Seaworld could exist by releasing the animals back into the wild as they have now stopped the orca breeding program then only for purely educational and conservation ends not theatrical shows.
