I have the Ibiza ST DSG 1.2 TSI FR on 2yr lease, not a great car but acceptable as a run about. I find the seats uncomfortable, the ride a little noisy and already starting to creak so I'm not sure on build quality. Although it only has to last long enough for me to give back in July.

10 Jan 17#44
I found the ride comfort to also be shocking in the FR, eventually led to me pulling out of the sale.
I had one of these until recently. Got rid at 2.5 years old.
Was a decent little car, had a few issues though.
1) Was never that great on fuel - didn't have start/stop (actually did less to the gallon than my old RenaultSport Clio)
2) Was loud on the motorway
3) Sat Nav was crap and made you want to punch the dashboard in (although that's pre-facelift)
4) When it was about 2 months old it leaked badly at the top-front of both doors.
5) The boot-lid rattled badly and SEAT never managed to fix it for more than a couple of months at a time
6) Needs servicing every year or 10,000 miles which I find pretty short compared to cars I've had before. The car I have now is also German but is 18,000 miles or 2 years! Serving from SEAT not great value, yeah it's fixed cost, but it's dear in typical VW Group fashion.
7) After two years it had more rattles than mothercare
8 ) Paint was poor quality. Really thin and really soft. It was also really badly orange-peeled in texture
9) Pirelli P7 tyres it came with were marginal in the dry and unsafe in the wet
10) Not very much steering feel, but that's modern cars for you, although my current car has better feel
11) Was awful over speed-bumps, but that was with 17" wheels and to be honest they were too big for the car. Looked a bit daft.
Things I liked:
1) 1.2 TSi engine is a great little power plant, really torquey feeling and eager enough for this car
2) It was super cheap to buy, mine was an FR and had other options and cost me £11k brand new
3) It was red and had the titanium pack which made for a nice looking little car
4) Never actually broke down (leak was a minor issue really)
5) Boot was a really good size and a really good shape
6) Sold it at 28,000 and still had the original tyres with plenty of tread
7) It's a VW so you can mess with lots of coding settings really easily
8 ) Grip was below average because of the crap Pirellis, however handling was about right. Only thing that would make it come badly unstuck was a bumpy road. Lost the back at a few times when pushing hard, managed to correct but it's not massively confidence inspiring.

Yes, you did well and it also confirms what I was thinking in that leasing this car is a poor deal.
You spent £3.7k over 2.5 years and 28,000 miles.
This car has a list price of £15k but can be bought for £10.6k. After 2 years and 16000 miles, I'd expect a trade-in value of £8k or possibly more. So net cost would be around £2.5k.
Whereas this lease deal costs £4k.
Go figure.

karlie88
10 Jan 17#73
If you can justify why this is a good deal then fair enough.
A 'good' lease deal is only 'good' when it works out cheaper than the depreciation over the same time period and mileage (whether bought outright or on PCP).
With this lease deal it works out at £4034 for 2 years of motoring and 16,000 miles. If you bought the car then it would cost less than £3000 over the same period/mileage. Therefore, this is a poor deal.
Also needs to be expired as price has gone up.

My only thought that it might be a bad idea is that you may get into the cycle of never ending car payments.
You may love the car. When it comes time to hand it back, you might end up leasing again. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing at all, it's swings and roundabouts ... new vs old ,,, no worries about breakdowns, blah blah blah
I've never leased a car, I've always bought them on HP or for cash. I can however see the great temptation of leasing.
Another way for to understand it ...
pay more for always almost new ................... pay less for not as new

Or are they all set at 24 months as a minimum?
Wife had a 2yr Fiesta ST lease and we've just changed it for a Leon Cupra Black lease (£249 a month on 1+23).

The service intervals are variable depending on how you drive them, if mainly motorway then it's every 2 years or 20k miles
Agreed that 17 inch wheels are a little too big for this.

Also there are good deals on the updated Leon. This one is the best in the range and not much more than the Ibiza (with the current price increase from the original deal posted).
