An amazing price for a rapid card. Unfortunately most people won't understand the speed differences so have some heat from me

Nope. SSD ranges from 200-1500MB/s whereas these are 90MB/s

I wouldn't know I'm afraid. I moved over from Canon for the form factor, 4k and stills pixel count. I'm a photographer in addition to video so the rII made more sense to me. I've gotten fantastic shots out of this in low light and very happy with it. If you only shot video, I can see the reasoning behind the sII but I do also think it's a little ridiculous. I would never shoot in such low light to see the difference - I'd use some lights! I couldn't advise in all in one solutions I'm afraid. I believe canon do a 4k dslr styled camera with a fixed lens. It was of no use to me though and they were taking their time moving to 4k, hence the switch to Sony which I don't regret.

I recently got a 4K Sony camera, but the noise on low light shots is a joke, I brought it used aswell, a Sony FDR AX33. Do you think I should get like a Sony A7Sii? Or is it not worth it, perhaps something under £1k with no need to lens add ons. I only need it for Youtube videos and photos for social media.

It normally is the camera that's the bottleneck as you say, I don't shoot sports or anything too testing anyway and the rate is more than enough for video. I grabbed one in the end.

a7rii isn't high speed uhs enabled so is pretty slow
the camera is the limiting factor rather than the cards pretty often
that said, its a good price for even an average 256gb card with the bonus of actually being a good one

Works for me, I have an A7rII and shoot a lot of 4k and raw stills. I'm really tempted by this but really like the lexar cards. The 128gbs are about £58 at the minute though. I don't really shoot burst stills though and this should be more than quick enough for 4k so might go for it (off to Japan for 3 weeks and currently only have 2x 128gb (and 1x 64gb somewhere...). This should keep me going a while longer, possibly not the whole trip. I just know I'll get this and the lexars may drop

I didn't say that I couldn't fill it, but that I don't risk putting all my images on one card. If I shoot 4k video on my GX80 it'll rip through storage at an alarming rate. Yes, I back the cards up, but I'd much rather shoot with 4 64gb cards or even 2 128's than one of these.

Like wise you could lose one of those cards that you are NOT using in the camera. As most modern DSLR now have two card slots surely the risk is lower and I would rather keep cards in the camera at all times :-)

11 years ago I bought a Panasonic DMC-LZ1 from Jessops which came bundled with a 256MB card.
If capacities increase at the same rate (and I see no reason why it won't), we'll be seeing 2TB we'll within the decade. Pretty amazing.
If only hard drive capacities and prices followed the same trend.

I understand that, but what I tend to do with this kind of card is that I never seem to format them so just keeps getting fuller and fuller, and with a D3S it is something like 12,000 shots, obviously hypothetical as it takes 2 CF. And I find write speeds don't tend to make too much of a difference, I certainly don't notice between using a 4gb £4 Kingston and a £20 Sandisk extreme in regards to the buffer or the buffer unload, and I shoot a lot of sports, but I am not a pro I am student. The other reason why I don't like these cards is to be honest £80 tied up in something that is smaller and lighter then a flash drive is a thought that genuinely frightens me.

I kind of figured at the price this card is and the write speeds then only pro photographers or those with higher spec kit would be looking for cards like this. Been a pro for over ten years now and never swap cards out of my camera. Shoot a full days wedding on two cards both in camera in two bodies. Raw files to both cards. I just don't see the risk of removing cards mid shoot or wanting to run out of memory at key moments, those spreading a shoot over several cards are at much more risk of losing data or even cards than I have of getting two corrupt cards in the body.

As a photographer I would much rather have lots of little cards then one big ass one. The price is good and if you are shooting video in 4K or maybe 8K it might be worth having a few of these, but even a D810 or a 5DSR would struggle to fill this with uncompressed RAW files, and it would take ages for me to fill this up with my D3S, but it wouldn't fit in it as it takes CF. I also wouldn't say most cameras have two card slots, anything above the D7100 yes, below that no. And as for risk of loosing the cards if you loose one of these cards it is much worse than loosing a few 16gb cards! But the offer is good if you can justify it!

My issue is with cards corrupting and losing data, so spreading the images out among multiple cards is the better, safer option.
If I lose the card, then it's because I'd have lost my passport - I don't just have them floating around, they're safely put away when I'm travelling. When I'm at home, I'm unlikely to ever need more than 64gb at a time.
"Most" modern DLSR now have two card slots"? I think you mean, some? The higher end DSLR's do, but certainly not most!

The Switch uses Micro SD. Presumably there will be a benefit using a card with fast read speeds.

Easy solution. Get a digital camera with lots of megapixels (like Sony's 42mp A7R II) and then shoot in Uncompressed RAW+JPEG mode. Each photo will be ~82MB so this card will store about 3,122 in total. Record a few 4K videos and you'll soon find yourself running out of space.

Great price, but I don't fancy having so much on one card. Shame the 128 and 64gb cars aren't similarly priced according to their size. Anyone seen any good deals on smaller UHS-3 cards?
