Refurb condition described as 'like new', and is a 14 day return.

To get this price you need to take out a data contract, which you can cancel straight away and forces you to pay off the remainder of the device plan.

Device plan: £2 per month + £4.99 upfront = £52.99

Cheapest data plan: £5 per month (500Mb)

Not done this before myself, so I think that's how it works, but there have been other deals posted along these lines before.

EDIT: Quidco has tracked at £10, though I'll believe it when it's in my bank account

The fact it didn't get much heat probably helped those that actually managed to get one. Glad to be of service

I think the operator you get makes a big deal. Remember these are probably inexperienced, fairly low salary call centre staff with 2-6 weeks training so go easy on them. I've done such jobs myself and the customers you speak with have no notion as to how little you know what you're doing.

The guy I spoke with for my S7 I just told him I want to pay off the device plan balance, then cancel the airtime. He was a little confused at first talking about returning the device because he thought I was just paying a contract settlement fee and I explained I'm still in the 14 day change your mind period, I want to pay the £288 settlement to keep the device, then I wanted him to cancel the airtime plan.

As soon as I was patient with him and laid it out plainly he knew exactly what I wanted, took my payment and confirmed the airtime was cancelled, then advised me there would be a pro-rata airtime bill.

I have an email confirming paying off the device, an email confirming airtime cancellation and I'm just waiting on my final bill to make sure it's all ok.

When you're speaking with the advisor just remember it's likely a young guy or gal, very little training, in a job they probably get talked to like dirt all day, trying to get their head around an unusual request from us as the customer, that if we're being honest we probably haven't explained very well so just be patient, and make sure you confirm the details with them before ending the call. And also say thankyou to them

It is not O2 you are dealing with.

It appears to be Capita who run the customer services. Make of that what you want

I've had pretty much exactly the same experience. I'm not confident it's been sorted and I won't get another email yet again in a day or so.

Wouldn't mind but the tablet has a fault which Samsung know exists yet can't be bothered to fix (not o2's fault!).

Would I do it again? Probably haha. But not with a Samsung! The CS is worse than O2's. At least when you call o2 they pretend to care.

It has been a load of hassle and chasing up - really important to keep on top of it!!

I've lost count on the number of times I've had to ring them. After the £95 bill I rang them and was told they'd apply credit so I'll get my £5 back too. This was to take 3 working days and I had to ring them again to ask for the money to be refunded.

The amount credited was wrong when I logged onto myO2 so I has to ring again. Lady amended things and the 3 days law was dictated to me again.

Rang after 3 days and this time spoke to a really unhelpful man - the previous lady hadn't sent of form. From all the advisors this one was the only one who I had any issues with. The rest of them have been very good and apologetic. I has to put the phone down and ring again with this one!!

Upon ringing back the lady said it will definitely be done and applied an extra £5 credit for all the hassle. So I was told to ring back in 3 days to get the £10 credited back to my account. I did this and thought it was the end of it.

But then received another email with £90 bill and another email for a £5 bill. Rang a final time and there had been a problem with the account!!!

Hopefully that's the end of it.

Would I do this again to get a cheap tablet or phone? Definitely!!!

I have bluetooth off by default, and I've tried adding my network manually and scanning for it. I have also turned off scan for devices.

What's annoyed me most is samsungs couldn't give a crap attitude towards it. I'll be sure to avoid them in future.

I have exact same issue with this tab and virgin superhub2, Samsung support have been poor. Been through same process as you trying to fix it, my wifi connection seems to have improved since I did the following:
Turn off bluetooth
Manually add your router rather than pick from scanned devices
Turn off scan for devices

Just got another bill today for £100 again!
I already had a £100 and then a £5 bill before and got them cancelled after several phone calls.
Really worried this is going to affect my credit score!!

15 Feb 17 #258
I've tried both 2ghz and 5ghz. Although I have no problems with either 2 or 5ghz networks with anything else.

I've tried resetting the router and changing the channels (although I didn't think that would work as I scan regularly to be sure the channels aren't over used). I've restored to factory. I've taken it to the local service centre and had them rebuild the software. I've cleared the cache. I've tried a friends wifi. O2 sent me a replacement which has exactly the same issue.

I'm extremely disappointed in Samsung as their customer service have been utterly useless. They claim it's a software issue but don't know when or even *if* a fix will be released.

There was a software update yesterday, whilst the update was downloading Samsung customer service actually called me to say the rep had spoke to managers and engineers and nobody knew when a new software update would be released for the tablet. When I told her I was actually downloading an update as she spoke she was shocked. Then claimed that would be the update to fix it. I said that's funny because a second ago you told me you had no idea at all there was an update so how could she know it would be the update with a fix.

Turns out it wasn't and it's just as bad as before.
BigYoSpeck
15 Feb 17 #257
Is it on a 2ghz network? Have you tried it on a 5ghz network?

I must admit on my Virgin Superhub the 2ghz connection can at times play up, it's not the only device to do that though. But on 5ghz it's rock solid.
Wotan
15 Feb 17 #256
Well I give up. I can't think of anything else to do.

I requested a replacment in the end because the wifi issue is so bad, the replacement has the exact same issue. My friend also requested a replacement, that also has the same issue so thats 4 out of 4 tablets.

Samsung support are utterly useless, they say it's a software issue and will be fixed with an update but have no idea when or if that update will be released. I had hoped the update the tablet received yesterday would have helped but nope.

So far I've restored to factory, cleared the cache, reset my router, taken to the service centre for a software rebuild - non of that helped, so I requested a replacement, which has the same issues.

Can't say I'm impressed with samsung at all. Will be avoiding in future!

Got a revised bill for 0.65p today and a note that the amount was outstanding and needed paying.
But since I had cancelled the DD - as per O2 instructions - there was no way of paying the 65p.
Rang O2 and they have give me a 65p to clear the account - hope it works. Don't want a black mark on my credit rating!!
This is the 4th time I had to contact O2 in relation to this cancellation stuff - not sure I will do it again if a similar offer comes up....

Early termination plus £5 first bill here too!

Thankfully I had remembered to cancel the direct debits. Called and had it sorted today.

This has happened every time I've taken a refresh deal. Their system really is woefully bad isn't it.

I spoke to Samsung support re the wifi issue and they've said its a known software deleted issue but they've no idea when an update and fix will be released.

I've had the same issue. Was billed for £5 initially and when I went on live chat they couldn't do anything, and gave me a number to ring, as I had disconnected the account.

Before I had a chance to ring them received the £95 ish bill for early termination!!! Lady said she's applying credit and they will ring me in 3 days to sort out the refund hopefully.

I'll probably be calling myself on Monday!

So received my termination bill of £95.20 today! Hopefully O2 CS will sort this out in no time...
Ahrr, Live Chat couldn't revert charges hence needed to call O2. Pain in the a**s, 15 minutes wasted, was only told this should be reversed within 3 working days.

No issues with wifi, I'm on standard EE bb, both 2.4 and 5Mhz channels work fine and signal strength is better than I get on Asus Z300M in the same room.

These 02 Refresh deals are great value with some great deals

however the down side is the billing system that follows when you pay your device plan and cancel your airtime

I'm quite lucky 7 deals now, my latest bill from this deal is -£4.52 (they owe me money)

however how so many people get billed early termination fees, then challenge via Live Chat only to be told its a mistake is staggering

just keep an eye on things and phone up after speaking to Live chat to double check it helps when you talk to English call centres as well

They charged me the £5 and my dad the £95.08 both have been cleared now (hopefully) been told within 3WD's
melmorc
1 Feb 17 #242
Yep i had the same, even though Gordon in Retentions confirmed he had cancelled the airtime agreement (I never took it out of the packet!). Spoke to call centre and then confirmed i should not have been charged the £5 and applied a credit to my O2 account - not refunded me. They told me i had to contact my bank to get it refunded. Anyway, i called my bank and we processed an indemnity claim. That was monday just gone and my bank also cancelled the Direct debits.

Then about an hour ago I received an email rom O2 re my next bill. Log in and see they've charged me £95 for early termination fee! Straight onto live chat, and the person at o2 live chat confirmed this was a mistake and have requested this to be cleared - it will take 1-3 day to appear on my o2 account and then I'll get a final bill of 0.00. Have all transcripts as well. As one person advised previously, just keep checking!!
Wotan

Sorry to bump this again but is anyone else having wifi issues with this tablet?

Myself, my friend and my uncle all managed to get one and all have the same issue.

Wifi seems to randomly drop out. When streaming or just browsing etc. You then have to manually turn wifi off and on again.

My friend called o2 yesterday and they replaced it for him today but the issue persists with the new tablet too. So that's 4 tablets all with the issue.

Anyone else

I never did like the glass type although you can't deny they offer more protection.
BigYoSpeck
25 Jan 17 1 #232
Go for glass. Film ruins the look and feel of the screen.

I've got this on mine:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01FH9F6WU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Easy to apply with all the cleaning wipes and guide stickers needed, doesn't seem to affect sensitivity or picture quality. It covers the entire display part of the front, but it's not edge to edge.

Thanks for the advice. I won't cancel the direct debit until the final bill then. Received a letter today about having paid off the device plan but nothing about the sim plan.

I hadn't put my sim in as the tablet was unlocked, but will try it and see what message appears. Though when I went to my O2 I'm sure there something along the lines of service cancelled (with my account number ) so hopefully it's been successfully cancelled.

BignRed84
20 Jan 17 #218
the problem with cancelling the direct debit (I was also advised to do this, though I have not) people on this site on other threads have claimed that this causes a black mark on your credit file/history.
I have done this on 1 of my 02 refresh deals before and it has not effected my credit score at all

its entirely upto you if you do, just kep an eye out for any expected bills/texts then if you get them go on Live Chat to make sure they get cancelled and keep the transcript

also if 02 own you money which in my case they do, they need the account open to pay it back

BTW, another way to know your account has been cancelled is your Sim will be cancelled
my 02 sim changed straight away to "emergencey calls onl" where as before it stated 02

on the other hand you may not, sort of typical of 02 in these deals

then email the transcript to your self to keep as proof

go on Live chat, state what you ahve done (cancelled and when) ask them to confirm this, then at the end of chat get the chat transcript emailed to yourself as proof its done

Wotan

Did you get yours?
BignRed84
18 Jan 17 #193
Oh and just to add

I amd £5 in credit anyway due to paying my first months money online
when I meant to pay my device plan off

so I know my final bill should be at least £5 in credit

*** when you get your final bill, assuming it is in credit, there is a link on the bill to click for the refund ti be generated to you, you just fill in a few details and wait 7-14 days
BignRed84
18 Jan 17 #192
Just to advise others on what happens after you cancel

take this from experience as I've had about 5or 6 now 02 Refresh deals via HUKD and every one is the same

as I have said in other posts, if 02 accounts/customer service where as good as the delivery side it would be ideal however they are miles apart

what happens after you pay off your device plan and the cancel the airtime
you should get a bill which is generated 14 days after you cancel, in experience it is usually between £1-3 although how its goes as much as £3 is beyond me*****

you may well get a bill for an silly amount under what they call an early termination fee - DO NOT PANIC
just go on Live Chat explain what has happened, they will tell you countless times sorry, sorry, sorry and they will sort
it
over the deals I have had a small number have had large amounts taken from there accounts, weather they knew before I can't say.

however in my experience I have never had any silly amounts taken out, as I always get on to 02 to make sure this doesn't happen, some of the times they suggest cancelling my direct debit, although some people say this may effect your credit score (I was told on Tuesday by 02 this will not ??)

*** I always get back onto 02 to get what ever my outstanding bill is as mentioned earlier anything from £1-3 back as I point out I have used nothing there fore I owe nothing I always end up getting it refunded

so the morale of my post is if your are prepared for a bit of silly customer service, and can handle this
these deals are the bargains they really are

Good Luck

Does anyone else find the lady asking why you're ringing on the O2 customer service helpline annoying??

After ages and after pressing every key on the phone, I managed to speak to a really nice lady (who also had this tablet!) and paid the device plan and cancelled the sim at the same time.

Hopefully I'll be sent a final bill in two weeks and refunded the £5 like she said.

I originally bought the tablet for the kids but tempted to keep it myself!! It's a nice size for browsing the Internet - better than the 8.1 samsung one I currently have.

Thanks again OP and everyone who posted helpful comments!! #firstrefreshdeal !

And to add to my post, i just called and asked to pay off the device and lady instantly put me through to retentions. Spoke to nice bloke called Gordon who said he'd take the £48 payment and then asked if i also wanted to cancel the airtime agreement. Obviously i ummed and aaahed, and then said, probably yes as i could stick my work o2 sim in it if i needed to use it out and about. He confirmed the airtime agreement was cancelled as well and that I'd get a pro rata airtime bill in next 14 days (which will be 0.00 as i never stuck the o2 sim in).

BignRed84
15 Jan 17 1 #112
The general rule is to make the unlock request asap once you receive item

wait until you get this, can take from a few hours to a few days
then pay off device, then request to cancel airtime

I had about 5 phones overall on 02 refresh deals it takes about 2-3 days once received to unlock and pay off
BigYoSpeck
15 Jan 17 #111
Make the unlock code your first request as it takes the longest.

You don't have to wait until you have the code to cancel, it should still come to your designated email address.

BignRed84
15 Jan 17 2 #106
Yes very easy
first thing is to request the unlock code (its free and it makes sense to have it unlocked)
either do this via your online account, there's a certain tab/shortcut
or go on live chat and request it, they will either do it for you or refer you to the online link to do it your self

the unlock code can take anything from a few hours to 2 days, they will say it can take upto 7 days

once you get the unlock code back
you then call up and request to pay off the device plan, pay that off 24 x £2 (£48)

after this say you want to cancel the airtime, you are well within your rights to do this
make sure you mention no further charges will be made to your account (they probably will)

Keep an eye out on your bills (you will get either a text or email) with regards to silly charges (early termination fee)
just go on live chat if this happens, explain whats happened then they will sort it then get the chat emailed back to you
BigYoSpeck
15 Jan 17 #105
I did it with my Galaxy S7. The call took less than 8 minutes including going through the menus before getting to a call handler.

When they ask how they can help you say "I want to pay off the balance for my device plan and cancel my airtime plan"

Now it's probably different from one call handler to the next, the guy I spoke with just did it without question. If they do objection handle you just repeat it, and if they spout any nonsense about not being able to just remind them you're in the 14 day change your mind period. You can always give up and try again for another call handler.

I'd like to recommend the Toshiba Toshiba Exceria M302 as at £14 I think it's the cheapest U3 rated card there is, however the 64gb I have doesn't work in my Galaxy S7. It does work just fine in my Dell Venue 11 (Windows 10 tablet) and a Sandisk Ultra sd card works fine in my S7. I'll test the Toshiba card in this tablet on Monday and if it works that would be my suggestion.

It's an octacore 2gb tablet so it's quite respectable. Unlike most budget tablets it's Android Marshmallow rather than Lollipop although I wouldn't be expecting Nougat for it. It's a TFT screen rather than AMOLED or IPS but from most reviews it's bright and ok looking, blacks just aren't the best, but it's sharp at 1920x1200.

Overall for £53 I don't think there is any cause for complaint. Once I saw it was a Samsung CPU rather than a mediatek, 2gb of ram rather than just 1gb, and Marshmallow I bought it instantly. Worse comes to the worse you send the whole thing back within 14 days but it looks decent.

It's back in stock, deal should be reinstated.

Maybe a lot of people sat with them in baskets before changing their mind.

Any data plan results in a total amount payable for device of £52.99, but obviously higher data plan prices can attract a high pro-rata bill for the time it takes to cut off the service.

However, I've gone onto the other tariffs and it looks like all the plans on this Tab A refurb are £4.99 upfront with £2.00 per month for the device and then the airtime price differs depending on your data requirement.
OP, can you confirm that in theory all devices purchased under any tariff shown ultimately cost £52.99 as long as you cancel the data airtime straight away your deal will be the same, i.e with £7 per month option or £27 per month option, If that makes sense??
BigYoSpeck

13 Jan 17 #53
yes, suggest you wait till you get it. Pay off device straight away, then cancel airtime agreement day later. This way, it normally stops o2 messing it up. Ive done it before, and ive just ordered this also. Hopefully theyll honour this to good to be true deal.
Rich069 to harry66
13 Jan 17 #55
Wait till you have it. Pay off device straight away. Next day, or after, cancel data agreement. Problems occur when people do both at same time. Ive done it b4 with phones, and just ordered this. Hopefully theyll honour this to good to be true deal.

So many people questioning the deal without reading the simple detail that the airtime can be cancelled and now it's out of stock so too late even if that is cleared up for them.

I managed to get one quickly so a massive thank you to the OP, that price is an absolute steal!

lol firstly the adrenaline rush and secondly accepting terms on credit agreement.

Now we wait ...
Thanks again OP

Yes.
A - for the agreement to be in effect
B - to ensure you are happy with the device, in particular here when its a grade A tab

Do you get the 48gb dropbox bonus with a refurb?
HUKD123

You'll be fine.
Just pay the refresh bill as soon as your happy with the device and then cancel the sim only (ideally in the first 14 days)

This is the FIRST refresh deal I've gone for!!! (Does anyone else get an adrenaline rush :man::stuck_out_tongue: )

So what's the next step after ordering?!! (Did anyone actually read everything whilst ordering??!!:laughing: )
HUKD123
13 Jan 17 #38
Sorry.
Thought you were stating fact rather than asking the question.
Too many people on here get scared of going for a O2 refresh deal because others state you have to see out the 24 month contract. O2 offer a 14 day cooling off period on the airtime. Pay for the device in full; over the phone, online or instore and then cancel the sim only.
Hope that clears things up

One thing to be aware of, o2 normally screw up billing and try and bill the full amount for airtime, so do check. Took almost 2 months to get £360 back off them on my Huwaei P9 plan...

I did this with an iPhone, think I waited a few days after the phone arrived then cancelled the aitlrtime via chat with no problems

The deal isn't as stated.

You need to take out a 24 month data contract at £5 per month to get the deal.

Total cost is - £4.99 + £168 (£7*24) = £172.99.

Shame.
cleverguy12 to andrew_s461
13 Jan 17 #15
Yes it is. £4.99 + (£2 x 24) = £52.99

You cancel the aitime plane so it's £2 x 24
BigYoSpeck to andrew_s461
13 Jan 17 #30
It's an O2 refresh plan, you can pay off the device and cancel the airtime. I've just done that with a galaxy S7, paid £50 up front, called and told them I want to pay off the device and cancel the airtime, they took £288 to pay off the device plan balance and cancelled the airtime.
vassy4u
13 Jan 17 #29
I have done refresh deals and posted deals too.
You cancel airtime. Paying only for the phone. As per this deal it's 24X 2 plus the 4.99 upfront.
HUKD123
13 Jan 17 2 #28
As previously stated, you can cancel the airtime within the first 14 days.

Can people please not scaremonger on this deal. Give the OP the credit he/she deserves, for what is, an amazing deal!

£4.99 and £2 is tablet fees.. then £5 a month x 24 for airtime.. TOTAL £173..

13 Jan 17 #24
I've done these refresh deals before you can cancel the airtime you might have to pay month one depending on when you get it cancelled but that's it got an lg g3 and an HTC m8 back in the day for peanuts using this method
andrew_s461

The plan is showing as minimum 24 month contract...so you need to pay for the 24 months.

If I do this, will it mess up my credit rating?
staffs1959
13 Jan 17 1 #20
NOTE...... It's £4.99 one off THEN £2 a month for the tablet PLUS £5 a month for airtime;...
NOT £52 more like near £173...

Vassy, please advise on this:
"Online and telephone purchases

If you purchased your phone or tablet through the o2.co.uk website or by speaking to an O2 advisor on the phone, call our customer services team to let us know that you’d like to arrange an exchange on 0344 809 0202.

If the replacement is more expensive, you’ll need to pay the difference. If you've taken a bundle, you'll need to return all the equipment in that bundle."
And
"Online and telephone purchases

If you bought a device through o2.co.uk or by speaking to an O2 advisor on the phone, you can use our online returns service to let us know that you'd like to cancel. Or call our customer services team on 0344 809 0202.

You'll need to return all your goods within 14 days of telling us you want to cancel the contract. If you've taken a bundle, this means you'll need to return all the equipment in that bundle. Once you've let us know you want to cancel you can use the Mobile device return form (PDF) to send your items back to us.

If you've taken a sim only deal or a Bolt -On, with no phone or tablet, then you'll still need to tell us you want to cancel, but you don't have to return the sim. Instead you'll need to break it in half and throw it away. You can do that by contacting us on the phone or in store.

If you cancel, we'll give you back all the payments you've made, apart from your old contract buy-out fee or any express delivery charges"

Is this too good to be true as posted by OP?
andrew_s461

You are cancelling airtime.

Please be aware. They do credit check. I was about to buy this tablet but didn't complete checkout. I wanted to save the credit check for better deals. If you ain't looking for any phones or tablets then go for this deal.

Yes, but you can cancel the airtime plan, so £4.99 upfront, pay off device plan straight away for £2 x 24 months (£48), and thats it. Don't need it but ordered, thanks OP.
