The Fuji X-A2 linked to above is an awesome choice, it will give you DSLR quality images in a much smaller package. Even if you just leave it in Auto mode the results will be far better than any point & shoot, and you have lots of cool simulated film modes you can play with too
I would personally not consider the Pentax Q options suggested previously, they're beaically compact cameras with detachable lenses. Not worth stretch your budget for really!
yeah...professional photographers only press the button that's all...:confused:

You will have to stretch your budget, but a pentax q10 or q-s1 are good options, just make sure to get a kit with a lens.

This is a separate flashgun for the camera in the picture, not the camera itself!
What is your budget for the camera for your daughter?

If you want a decent compact camera which will stand the test of time, then go for the Canon G1X MkII or the new M5, both have large sensors which give better low light performance, and enough control to allow you to explore photography if you so desire in the future.
The results from both these cameras are well up to commercial quality and will give results good enough for a pro to use.

Ridiculous combo to be carrying around lol, it looks like the camera is the accessory instead of the other way around. Still heated as the price is good.
