Sony wouldn't offer free backwards compatibility even if it was possible as they dont even want to give PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility and those are definitely possible. Sony are just tighter than a giraffe's ass.

One of the things I dislike about PS4 is that you can't play PS3 games on it. This is a general problem I have with console gaming. I'd have bought a few games if it were backwards compatible.

OK. Just so long as you realise that it's no-ones fault that this is not the case. The PS4 was never going to have PS3 compatibility. It just isn't powerful enough to emulate a PS3 in software and they weren't going to stick PS3 hardware inside the box as well. That kind of hardware backwards compatibility is what made launch PS3s so expensive and almost doomed the console.
I don't know what improvements the PS4 Pro has added, or whether it may be feasible with it but it's pretty unlikely. My own (somewhat realistic) hope is that when the PS5 launches it can have backwards compatibility with every previous Playstation generation. It will most likely be nothing more than an even more powerful PS4 and hopefully capable of emulating a PS3.

Everybody always goes on about using cdkeys but that's using cold hard cash. I top-up £10 on orange get my free data/texts then either build the credit or spend it on the psn store. That way I have 2 lots of use for my money. Don't think I've spent real cash on the psn store for a long long time and I've got a bunch of games

Get one they are pretty cheap now. I bought an Xbox 360 a few weeks ago as I never had one, bought a load of games that didn't come to PS3. Played some great games doesn't bother me how old they are, some really impressive looking games from last gen. Best thing is they are all cheap now and I don't feel like I've wasted my money if i don't like it.

For some reason I want to buy Resistance Fall of Man even though I have it on disc.
Insomniac never did add trophies and I wish the servers were still up. :disappointed:

Some good deals there, heat added. Although for a brief moment I thought Ico/SoTC was £5.79 on PS4, I would've snapped it up. Just finished The Last Guardian and a re-tread through some of the earlier games is called for I think

Is Ico & Shadow of the colossus £1.69 on gold?

I read the title and also thought ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD was £1.69.
Misread it though, it's £5.79 which is still a bargain.
If you meant Xbox live gold though, then no. They are PS exclusives.

Even now, with an Xbox One, I'm playing the original Mass Effect via Backward Compatibility. It's still head and shoulders above some games I've played recently, and that's before I get back onto the sequels!
The PS3 also makes a great bluray and media player, as it has all of the main catch-up services on one platform.

Did the same this week. Most of the games are now a pound or two in cex so I bought a load of 360 exclusives
