Just noticed this through the PlayStation site, linked to ShopTo and is about £3 cheaper than amazon, GAME etc. could be used for PC games or PS4 on remote play

Yeah, I've used my PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth and it works perfectly wirelessly. One time set up of DS4Windows I think it was called and that's it

Or you could just use a standard USB Bluetooth dongle [~€2] and get the same desired effect.

Just purchased one for use with Steam. Got a lot of lag with my existing Bluetooth adaptor (I assume one of these devices per controller has something to do with reducing lag), and I really want to be able to use the 3.5mm audio port on the controller.

I don't hate cables enough to pay for one of these. Re-pairing to the console again (I assume you have to) when you're done feels like more effort. You'd still need a cable for that anyway?

No, I saw that. I offered the solution which is the application Ds4 Windows. This allows you to connect WITHOUT the USB cable. Which is what you wanted....

I was Remote Playing PS4 then tried emulators natively on Mac and if worked fine. I can try it on my Windows laptop soon.

I've been looking into one of these as I'm now using remote play more. However, my current set up with the Ps4 upstairs and a desktop PC downstairs means I don't need a bluetooth device, or even have to leave my Ps4 in rest mode (which I find noisy personally).
I turn on the Dualshock (paired with the Ps4) and this turns on the Ps4 20-some feet away above me (2 floors up), start up the remote play app and I'm golden. As I'm at a desk the USB cable is no problem. I urge anyone with a similar set up to try it out. I appreciate if you're using remote play and want to sit on a sofa or whatever then you'll need to go the bluetooth route.
Agree on remote play not being reliable. The number of times I have to pause the game as you can see a slow down coming is a little annoying. And I'm on fibre broadband. So I stick to single player sandbox games in the main.

This dongle is more reliable than the Remote Play function itself! Resorted to using it for Steam games.

The download link for ds4windows wasn't working for ages so I went with input mapper. That works fine
But whenever I connect the ds4 to pc via Bluetooth it recognises and then disappears after it installs the drivers for it
Anyone come across this or have a fix?
I'm dying to play Gears of war and only have ps4 and pc

Ds4 is the app. Let's u connect wirelessly to Windows devices. Use it on my linx vision gaming tablet. Works a treat

Get it I did and it's much less hassle and more compatible with steam games than the software mentioned. I tried generic bluetooth and found issues with some games controls that meant I had to faff and change things around. Since steam update support this is the best option in my opinion if you can't be arsed with faff!!

Used it on my iMac last night and it disabled the controller's audio port. Good device though, one less cable and no awkward workarounds.

Bluetooth wirelessly through PC playing the PS4 will not work. You need this dongle.

correct, to a degree, it's not a simple search and find but there are workarounds.
why couldn't they have just made it proper Bluetooth like the Xbox controller.

Initially when I was researching remote play, I read that this is the only way to get the audio port on the PS4 controller working when the controller is used wirelessly with a pc.
However, further research gave such conflicting information that I never went ahead with the purchase.

This works out of the box with steam controller configurator as well as PS4 Remote Play. Far better experience than using a standard bluetooth adapter. Pairing is literally just pushing in the USB Adapter and putting your controller into pairing mode. Job done. It will work in any steam game including the touchpad.
Well work the money!
I own this and have used it a lot with PS4 Remote Play app on my mac. I can say with 100% certainty that the 3.5mm audio port works in this environment.

Only get this if your laptop for whatever reason doesn't have bluetooth on it, otherwise you're wasting money. Google how to connect PS4 controllers with PC. You've been able to do it pretty much ever since the PS4 came out
