Yes, they were pretty much 150 at Argos,Smyths,John Lewis, everywhere etc etc. That was then, this is now. Provide a link to a time machine and your comment is valid

Looks like the original PS4 to me. Not online on their website at this price. It's the only Currys I'm going to this week so haven't checked other branches.

Worth noting that if you are after a surround sound headset, this model is better than the slim as there is no optical port on the slim. Just a small issue that my mate recently had.

Depends on the headset, the Sony Gold Headset will work fine with the slim and provide surround sound.
But it was a strange cost cutting move to ditch the optical out port though

I didn't know that, as I've not seriously contemplated upgrading, so that's really really useful to know.
Having optical digital is vitally important to me, since my A/V amp doesn't have HDMI pass through (yes, it's an antique, but was top of the line when I bought it so acoustically still superb).

The picture shows 2 variants of the original model, the one cropped on left has gloss plastic at the top & main centrered box has fully matte black. The difference, the matte model is the CUH-1200 revised system. It has lower power draw and less noise.
The slim model PS4 (CUH-2000) has further improvements to sound, power draw and runs a little cooler.

The picture on the left was the 1TB version for £229.97.

Not to be the resident negative Nancy, but isn't this an insane amount of heat for an older revision of the PlayStation 4?
OP, just out of interest, which model number was it? 1100 or 1200?

I don't know much about PS4's. I saw it behind the counter on the shelf, googled it, nothing came up cheaper so posted it. That's all I know. Sorry. Someone mention abound about being able to tell the difference by the colour of it. Matt black or glossy.

I'd have thought that this pricing would be the norm given the the newer revised Slim model is merely £20 more : [http://www.simplygames.com/p/ps4-slim-500gb-console-ps4].
