I needed a padlock saw these and have
got to say they are pretty robust plus 5 keys with each lock(now that's a saving on its own-normally have to get a few keys cut when I buy a lock)
Any how there's a few flavours plus a steel cable tie at the same price.

I checked the padlocks out yesterday and they are for indoor use only (as indicated on the packaging) so no good if exposed to the elements - waste of time!

There is also a single weatherproofed padlock with 2 keys for the same price bought one this morning.

I would recommend going for the metal locks shown in the middle pictures. The cable is easy to cut through and the lock on the left is not particularly solid.

Thanks OP Need a new one for shed and the average opportunist thief doesn't carry lock picks. So this will do fine, my daughter has one on her garage and it still looks good after 3 years

Looks to me like the plate stuck on the bottom of the smoke detector would need to be removed to replace the battery.
Edit: just realised they are intended for the ones with an opening cover. I haven't had one like that for over a decade.
My smoke detectors came with a plastic plate you fit to the ceiling so they just twist on and off and have a peg that pops out of the battery compartment so you can't refit them with the battery removed and they probably didn't cost much more than a fiver anyway.

The wafer locks look marginally tougher (fewer people own a wafer pick) but I'd take a couple of shims with me before I bought one of these.
The pin tumblers look like 4 pin. Even if there were security pins in there, that makes it trivial to rake. On the plus side it does mean you can lose all 5 keys and still get easy access.
A cheap lock is usually indicative of a bad lock. Bad locks are a false economy.
