Reading the negative reports on Halfords with interest and I think mileage must vary from place to place as I only have postitive comments to make.
Dropped car at Halfords Stirling this morning and booking in took 2 mins.
Tyres were fitted in just over and hour and both the tyre fitter and man at the front desk were helpful and informative.
Balancing was included in the price making the four Falkens an absolute bargain...thanks again OP.
Never used Halfords before for any car related work but I will most certainly go back for tyres!!

OMG - i just found out why they call them 'Hell Fords' !
Car booked in for 1.30pm for 2 tyres (arrived on time)
Told there will be a slight delay due to another vehicle being worked on but the tyres were there.
Went for a walk down the shops & returned 1.5hrs later car still hadnt moved.
Complained about delay - After another 30mins car was moved around the back & wheels removed.
10 minutes later staff noticed tyres had gone & been taken by delivery driver in error.
Delivery company refused to return tyres.
No refund issued due to online purchase.
Return home over 3 hours later - complete waste of my time.

Just bought four:-))
Thanks to OP for the good spot.
As for Falkens....had them on my BMW 3 series twice already and were way better on grip, wet driving and wear than the current Goodyears that I have on.

I've been using Falkens for a few cars, I found my new ones tramline a little but think it's because I got the XL version which have re-enforced sidewall and run eco tyre pressures 40psi. Our local tyre guy said they perform like last gen premium tyres and I can't fault them for grip or wear rate.

looks good. Been waiting for a tyre offer. I like Michelin but their prices have gone up so will be getting these as I can't justify the 20 quid diff
erence per tyre.

These are very popular in the BMW Z3 enthusiast community. A budget performance tyre.

These were great on my A8 but the NEXEN n'fera SU1 that I bought to replace them are even better (both in sets of 4). I bought both based on reviews and EU tyre label ratings.

I disagree - I bought these because they are a mid-range tyre and were well reviewed. Check out forums and review sites. They are noisy and suffer from tramlining on my car, but they are responsive and grippy - found them especially good in recent wet and cold.

Good idea of taking pictures. Everyone has a camera phone these days and taking pictures is even going to take 2 minutes. Nothing compared to the hours of argument you are going to get if damage is done.

I got two of these for £20 each, they'd falken off the back of a lorry. No? OK, tough crowd.
Some good reviews and also when compared to premium tyres.

I have the Ziex 914 in 205/55/16 - they were amazing for about the first 500 miles, now they are wallowy and awful for tramlining. Can't wait to replace but they seem to have an annoyingly long lasting tread. Good price tho.

Hmmm this shouldn't happen to budget tyres these days, let alone mid tier tyres like Falken. Have you had your tracking done?

I had a similar experience with the ZIEX914 that were fitted to 2 of my cars, the previous line of ZIEX912 which the ZIEX914 replaced were better (The 912 were made in Japan, the 914 made in Thailand), having now replaced the ZIEX914 (and I replaced them at 3mm left on the front and 4.5mm left on the rears) with some Michelin Crossclimates all the noise and tramlining has disappeared and it's smoothed out the ride massively. I also seemed to get a large number of punctures with the ZIEX914 and had one tyre completely fail with a split in the side wall but that may have been caused by some debris on the road.
However this is a reasonable price for these tyres in this size as you're paying a budget price for a low end mid range tyre, they certainly are a much better option than cheap Chinese budget tyres.

Had 2 tyres fitted by a Halfords autocentre and damaged both alloys which had to be replaced

Been copying my dad for years now and often people think I'm nuts, I photograph all around the car before she goes in. It's paid off, had my car went in for aircon to be fixed and a mark and 6" hole in the paintwork appeared, I of course met resistance before having to show the "evidence" they caused the damage. Got my bumper resprayed.
My dad took his car to Mercedes to have his tyres changed and had two alloys damaged by balance weights being removed with a mallet and screw driver, it looked bad. They paid to have all his alloys reconditioned but he got fobbed off until he got infront of a manager with the pictures to hand.
