I have been looking for this camera for a while with the VR lens. Argos also have this price but can't deliver and none in stock within a 50mile radius.
I am told this is the best entry level DSLR out there and clearly in demand. Hope this helps some of you out!

Highly recommended camera, as has been said they have been cheaper. As far as the lens is concerned, if you have any intention of getting another lens that will get significant use then don't worry about VR. I don't even mount the kit lens anymore since I got the 35mm f1.8. The only other lenses that get action are an old and lovely pre-AI 200mm f3.5 and a 500mm mirror lens.
Good price at the moment but no stock, was this price at Argos 2 weeks.

If you don't want it urgently it might be worth setting up an alert on Camelcamelcamel as these have dropped to around £270 quite a few times. Also, the D3400 is out now which might push the price down a bit. I've got this camera, really like it. The only thing I don't like about mine is the colour (red version) but I only paid £250 (-£5tcb) so could live with the that and put the saving towards a 55-200 lens.
VR is image stabilisation (Vibration Reduction)
Edit: Voted hot as this seems to be the cheapest UK priced VRII lens about.

Capable DSLR at this price could make bridge cameras a thing of the past.

Wow, I bought this from JL yesterday after contemplating on buying it for £309 with yesterday's code. It was definitely £319 almost everywhere. If you don't need it urgently, keep an eye out for it, the price drops below £300 from time to time.

Got mine from very last year. Paid around £220 after account credit and quidco. Check out mpb.com. You can pick up decent second hand kit from there.
There are two models of Nikon D3300 - one with a VR lens and one without. The £309 D3300 at Currys doesn't have the VR. The one that does is about £40 dearer - OOS at John Lewis, but available elsewhere £349>
